Great little coffee shop - small town charm Nice area to sit out back Good coffee and snack options

Cat drinking coffee and reading a book. A quote: "that's what I do, I read books, I drink coffee, and I know things"

Really fantastic ambience, very focused on literature and the joy of reading! The service was perfect, efficient and to the point. We ordered 3 bagels and they were delicious.

My friends and I were in the area for the weekend staying at an AirBnB and decided to find somewhere on our way out of town to stop for coffee and something to eat. We found Coffee House 26, and were pleasantly surprised at how amazing this little place was! My best friend and I are both current/past baristas in Portland, and we're not necessarily the snooty kind of coffee drinkers, but we are certainly used to pretty high quality coffee, and WOW, we were amazed by how delicious our drinks were! I got an oatmilk cappuccino and my friend got an almond lavender latte. They are very LGBTQ+ friendly, even selling cute rainbow merch, and the vibes are immaculate. When we came in at about 11am on a Sunday, Amber was the only person working, and there was a large group ahead of us, who had each ordered a drink and a food item, so my group expected to have to wait for a good while. Amber absolutely slayed that rush, all by herself!! And the whole time, she was making conversation with customers and giving the best service. I don't have the opportunity to come out to this area very often, but you better believe that when I do, I'll be making a stop here, and I sure hope I have the pleasure of having Amber make my coffee! You can't go wrong at this place.

Cool little place. Perfect for breakfast. Super nice and fast service. They also sell merch from the place!! Definitely recommend checking this place out!

Cute spot in Mt Hood village with a lot of seating. Got the breakfast sandwich, not bad. Service was a little slow but very friendly.

Great menu. Such a wide selection of mixed coffees, milk alternatives, and flavors. Their drip is also delicious.

This was a truly excellent find during a recent family road trip. The ambience was relaxed and friendly, and the coffee, mochas, and hot chocolate were all top notch. We were sad to have to leave!

My fiance planned a wonderful mountain getaway for us, and lucky for me- we had dinner reservations here. It was so chilly in December, We had a cold mountain day, and we bundled up to go to our dinner reservations and I have to say- I wasn't expecting much when I heard the name "Grill". I was thinking- burgers, fries, your typical post-ski grub. I was wrooong! We strolled into the coziest little restaurant and were greeted by the two lovely people working there. Felt like I very sweet family vibe. They steered us in the directions of the pasta dishes we ordered, and we had the Soup of the Day to start- I believe it was some kind of Tomato bisque and that hit the spot. The Hazelnut pasta was a hit for my fiance, and I loved that he got to try such a classic Oregon flavor in a pasta- how fun. My chanterelle ravioli filled me up so fast, I also loved being able to try chanterelles in this format. Both dishes felt very creative and full of so much Oregon pride! Delicious!

Prices are pretty high but we've found that the quality is consistently good, though this year felt a bit less. I enjoyed a patty melt with sweet potato fries. Kids grilled cheeses also were enjoyed. Hamburger was good, though I liked the patty melt more. The alfredo and cod were just average. For desert, I got the chocolate torte, which was a big letdown (especially since it cost $15!). I may decide to try a new place next year.

Fernie's Coffee & ZigZag 4 Stars…read more Headed up toward Mt. Hood, I swung into Fernie's Coffee & ZigZag on a cold mountain morning, chasing a memory more than a meal. Back in the day when this place went by a different name and the vibe was more Hoppin' they made some of the greatest biscuits and gravy around. Legendary stuff. So naturally, I had to try it again. Good news: it didn't disappoint. I won't swear it's as good as the original incarnation (time has a way of polishing memories), but it's a solid second-best, and that's saying something. The biscuits were hearty, the gravy did its job, and I left full and ready for the road. The coffee? Decent. It'll wake you up, won't change your life, but it'll get you to Timberline without falling asleep at the wheel. That said, the place feels like a ghost of its former self. Sad to see the market closed that part stings a little. The building still holds the echoes of what it used to be, and you can almost feel the history lingering in the corners. Service-wise, there was a moment. The lady at the counter was BS-ing with some guy at the window for a solid five minutes or maybe he was just standing there, staring into the void but either way, I was ready to order. That little pause cost them a star. Still, for the price, the convenience, and the fact that I was in and out with no line while heading up the mountain, it earns four stars. It's good, it's familiar, it's just missing something. If they ever find it again, this place could really shine.

But they are known for their breakfast burritos. I ordered the first choice (I forget the name) which is bacon, sausage, eggs, potatoes, cheese and your choice of sauce - please, please please choose gravy. I say that because they put the exact right amount of country gravy in the burrito so that we could eat it on the road without making a mess and the gravy was delicious. I can't imagine this burrito without gravy actually. It would just be a run-of-the-mill breakfast burrito. The gravy puts it over the top, way over the top as my new favorite. Egg is the primary ingredient and potatoes enhance it. The burrito was perfectly seasoned too. This is a burrito that you would never need to add hot sauce or salsa to every bite like most breakfast burritos. The guy in the truck was very nice even though we were the only customers for a while due to the rain. The price is right too. Recommend!

Baseline Biscuits is a no-frills eatery In Parkdale, which is on the doorstep of Mount Hood,…read moreOregons tallest mountain. I say no frills because it doesn't waste resources being showy, rather it lets the food do the talking. The food has always been decent, and just adventurous enough to not be ho hum while still appealing to a wider audience. That appeal is necessary due to Parkdale being tiny, and a little off the beaten path. The food: I'm going to admit right away that I have not tried the biscuits. I will have to remedy that someday. I had the shrimp and grits on one occasion, and found them to be excellent. I highly recommend them. I've also had the Baseline Burger on two occasions. The first time, they had no mustard, and I had to take matters into my own hands by running up to a grocery store a few doors away. My burgers will have mustard on them. Today, they had some of their own. The burger was 1/2 pound. It came with bacon, pickle, lettuce, and an onion ring, plus their house made sauce. It's a decent burger. Again, just adventurous enough, but not top tier. What floored me was the Mary Mix. I often order a Virgin Mary (a Bloody Mary without the alcohol, or as some call it, a "Why Bother") because I like spiced up tomato juice. This one comes with a little horseradish in it, and it was sublime. It comes in a glass with a salted rim. They mix it up themselves, and I imagine that the full alcohol version is amazing too.

Hood from just down the street are to die for. They have nice outdoor deck seating, as well as indoors if you prefer. They did a good job of dealing with our sprawling party of 4 families, kids ages 2-11 that spread out between 3 tables. It got a little chaotic getting all the plates to the right people, but they handled it with grace and kindness. I thought my biscuits and gravy were quite good. I was very full. The chicken fried steak meal was huge, my husband no where near finished it. My daughter actually ate her food - which she often doesn't do. The coffee was pretty weak - but that is what I was expecting. They have a full cocktail menu too - I didn't partake, but a nice option to have.
