This is not our first place to go for food in general, but it's definitely at the top of our mind if we are looking for a quick (not so healthy) meal for our son, if we want something sweet, or if we just feel like going for in downtown Estacada. There are always plenty of people in there, and it has the aromas and atmosphere of a great coffee shop. The ambient noise levels are just right -- enough that you can have a conversation with someone with a medium level of privacy. The furniture is a mixed bag -- a bit worn, but there are plenty of tables. It's good for studying or working for an hour or two. The coffee is good. My go-to oat milk lattes always come out consistent. I've also found the staff to be friendly. The only reason I didn't go 5 stars is I am disappointed that they prominently feature the "Hoodview News" paper in the shop -- that is a terrible local publication which spews anti-LGBTQ+, anti-immigrant rhetoric. It frusterates me that Cafe D gives it a platform. It sends all the wrong signals about our community. They could easily replace that with something a bit more palatable to the entire community, such as the Gresham Outlook or Oregonian. With multiple coffee options (Jazzy, Legacy) nearby, I try to prioritize patronizing the places that don't have Hoodview prominently displayed. I do occasionally still go to Cafe D (it's near my office), so I'll try and update this review if they remove that.
