My husband and I are coffee-shop "aficionados"; we've explored dozens of quirky, Portland spots. He usually orders tea, while I'm all about the coffee and my sketchbook. But today, I wanted coffee and we were right there. Well, my drip coffee was ten times better than the average brew you get elsewhere, and my husband couldn't believe how robust and flavorful his tea was, way beyond strip-mall expectations. The music was lovely and the atmosphere was so calm, it felt like a visit to a Spa! We will be back...so many glowing reviews rave about the pastry! There's comfortable, shaded outdoor seating and a sweet little balcony overlooking the Columbia channel. There's limited indoor seating, too. The interior is spotless and charming. The staff is friendly and rightfully proud of their cafe. They are open daily, 8 am to 3 pm. It's also dog friendly, at least for the patio. I just had a tea with honey to go--it was delicious. I'll be back for a London Fog and a longer stay, maybe even something to eat and see if I can bump up to five stars. I noticed they also offer bakery items from Portland's wonderful Gem, if you're seeking a gluten free treat. I'll definitely be back for more.
