UPDATE: Updating our experience to 3.5 from a 1 since the owner was very responsive and took our feedback, once they became aware. The owner cannot be everywhere at once, so we really appreciate their responsiveness and taking feedback. Based on that, we feel we can give feedback, and would consider going back to Coffee Hound for another type of drink. Thanks to Coffee Hound for the refund and educating the employee. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Took my wife here, specifically for a Matcha, and it was TERRIBLE. We went Sunday, June 14th after noon. There was a gentleman and a young lady that wore a hoodie with a hat. She seemed unhappy the second we walked in. She made a severely diluted, watery Matcha. When my wife pointed it out, the barista insisted it was because of the brand of Almond Milk. (Yet, my wife gets Matchas with Almond Milk everyday - and they are NOT watery!) She didn't offer to remake it, didn't offer to make it thicker. Nothing. We ended up getting another Matcha from another coffee shop and DUMPED (wasted our money on) Coffee Hounds almost $10 Matcha (including tip). My wife tried to drink the watery matcha but I just couldn't take it. We stopped at another coffee shop, and got her a Matcha from somewhere that knows what a Matcha is and how to make it. Maybe next time Coffee Hound will teach their employees better customer service and how to make quality Matchas for their prices! Or getter "better" Almond Milk. read more

Im going against my own rule here. Any time a coffee shop puts only 2 shots of espresso in a 16 oz Americano, it gets an automatic max 3 stars. Especially here, where the 50 cents extra cost between 12 and 16 ounce Americano is basically for a half cup of extra water. But after ordering 2 extra shots, my drink was delicious. The other drinks we ordered - chai and blackberry mocha were very good as well. Four stars. read more

Whether you have a dog or you just want to read a book, bookmark this cafe and make it your favorite. The Americano I ordered was perfectly brewed. The service was excellent. It is spacious so the tables and chairs are adequately placed apart. I will definitely go back with my dog the next time I'm in Virginia (especially when it's too hot outside). read more

I'm not a coffee drinker but it was Sunday brunch and every other restaurant had really long wait times so we ended up at Coffee Hound. Hoping coffee would quell our hunger for a while. I ordered a cappuccino with a shot of mocha, and my girlfriend ordered a cappuccino with oat milk and a shot of caramel. To be honest, I couldn't taste the flavor shots in either. The main difference between the two seemed to be in the type of milk used, where the oat milk had a slightly more rustic flavor. I'll be honest, I didn't like my drink but what did I expect ordering coffee as someone who doesn't like it. Very strong flavor, not that sweet. But I think the baristas made the order quickly and accurately. Someone who enjoys coffee would have enjoyed the cappuccino. read more

I loved trying this dog-friendly coffee shop. They replaced Shenandoah Joe's so I was excited to try it out. I got their iced matcha (which I've never had matcha before and they're the only place in Harrisonburg that I could find that makes it) and it was pretty good. I'll have to come back to get my usual mocha to truly see if they're good. Nice seating and has a comfy dark vibe with some nice windows around too. They have local artists work around the shop to buy which is a nice touch. The aesthetic is dark, rustic, and wooden. I can't wait to come back and try some more things from here!! read more

Beautiful little coffee shop that had many coffee options. The staff was friendly and the the shop was really clean. I tried the strawberry latte and lemon poppy seed muffin. The coffee was great and the muffin had a good flavor but, it was served cold and it made it seem really dry. I would suggest asking them to warm up the muffin for a couple seconds. read more

The Iced shaken espresso was so smooth and SO good. Even my roommate who doesn't like iced drinks enjoyed it. I got it with white mocha syrup and it might be my favorite iced espresso drink in Harrisonburg :) Attached the flavor list since I couldn't find it online. They're the 1883 syrups :) love read more

A nice, roomy coffee shop in historic district of downtown Harrisonburg VA. Great coffees and well made coffee drinks from a wide beverage menu. Good, but small, sample of baked goods. Friendly staff including very good baristas. Always good music on that's not too loud or intrusive in style. Recommended. read more
