FOOD & BURBANK LOCATION ONLY: I have been a fan of Coffee Commissary​ for years now, and that love evolved to greater heights when they opened their Kenneth Village location. I have watched that location (& this one) grow to serve a ton of people now. So it goes to say, I have been around to see a few menu changes. While I don't believe these 3 stalks of kale, breadcrumbs, & some shaved parmesan is worth $11 for the Kale Caesar Salad (sans chicken)... I still do it because it is convenient and healthy. My issue though is not the price tag-- not if the quality were their number one priority. Unfortunately, it is not (see attached photos). This is not the first time this has happened, and it certainly is not the third, fourth, or even fifth. The last time I was here (two weeks ago), my to-go order was wrong... they had to remake it, cool. As I start eating I realize there's a nice thread of plastic... I remove it and give them the benefit of the doubt because I was not about to drive back YET AGAIN and have them remake it... AGAIN. On Monday I ordered the usual Kale salad, no chicken... and as soon as I start to dig in I can't help but notice the YELLOW & MOLDY kale leaves in my salad. Now, I would not be surprised if this were McDonalds or some fast food spot but this is some trendy ass coffee shop charging me $11 for THREE STALKS OF KALE AND SOME CRUMBS DISGUISED AS CROUTONS. I walked back to the counter and let the guy know this is unacceptable, and it is not the first time. They kindly asked if they could remake it and I agreed. The general shift manager overheard this and automatically gave me a refund without asking... shoutout to him for the customer service. I should note though, the only reason he gave it to me without asking is because he's mediated another one of their mistakes before. I thanked him and said look, I love coming here and I don't mind paying but I just don't believe it is right to feed people this shit. He let me know that he understands and agrees. I asked him who the manager is because they should know about the lack of food quality here. He let me know that the Food Manager hardly visits that location and honestly, it shows. When the cat's away, the mice play. I have never had this issue at the Kenneth Village location and it's happened here enough times for me to be vocal about it. Decent ice coffee and ice chai. Good chocolate chip cookie. Recently went back after almost 6-8 weeks (prior to that I used to go regularly), the cashier machine still has issues. Apple Pay still won't take Mastercard (I don't have issues with other places that take Apple Pay). The smartchip reader doesn't work on the credit card, the magnetic strip doesn't work at the cashier station. I rarely carry cash. Same issue with my back up credit card in my wallet. Please fix your cashier station, you're shooting yourself in the foot when the primary method of taking payment is failing on several fronts. Such rude service! The cashier with the blue hair was beyond distasteful. Why is she is the front of the house? I ordered a pastry and asked for it to be heated. She nastily said that it was already heated. Low and behold, I took a bite and it was cold. I asked for a glass of water and she curtly cut me off and said, "cups are on the side." It's hard to believe Commissary just started roasting last year. They easily go toe to toe with every roaster I've tried in LA. I just grabbed my third or fourth bag of coffee from the Burbank location and I've really loved them all. Each roast has been unique, complex, and just plain old good. I could easily give them 5 stars based on the beans alone. My only issue is the limited vegan options. Commissary's coffee is a go to for my friends and I. They have several locations, which is a plus. Few things about them: 1. Yes, the coffee and food isn't the cheapest, but it is delicious. 2. They have parking out back if you can't get side street parking. 3. They don't serve soy milk. They do have almond though. I would recommend the avocado toast. Had a bit of time to kill while running errands and decided to grab some coffee at Coffee Commissary. I didn't know they served food, but the menu looked great and I definitely want to come back for brunch! Their cookies also looked really good. Got an iced vanilla latte and it tasted great. It was pretty busy for a Saturday around noon; lots of people eating on the outdoor patio. The wait was a bit long, but overall friendly service and great drinks (and the food looked good). I had not been to this place in such a long time. Glad I stopped by recently! Parking for this establishment is alright. There's street parking, but the area closest to the coffee shop will packed. Luckily, I was able to park right next to it. I ran in and ordered a vanilla latte, hazelnut latte with oat milk, and a chocolate chip cookie. Atmosphere was nice. Employees were wearing masks and gloves which I appreciated. The vanilla latte was okay, but the hazelnut latte was soooo good! I definitely recommend it if it is still on the menu. When I went it was a featured item. Maybe it was the oat milk that also added to its wow factor? The cookie... droooool!! So good! One thing I wish they did, heat up the cookie. Thr vehhie burrito was light and tasty. The latte was on point which was not too sugary. The parking hete is very tough and can get crowded quickly if you dont beat the rush. Killer latte. Love these guys. Also, cool new paint job! Small parking lot behind the business but fills up fast. There is nearby street parking and you may get away with parking in some of the Chick-fil-A spots. Do NOT park in the convenience store spots - they will tow you. PA tips- When offices get back to it, this is a great place to get coffee. (Looking at you, Burbank Studio PAs) You will have to go in person, but they are fast. Coffee commissary is a cafe that is full of pretentious workers. I've been back multiple times to try and give it another go to see if I was the problem. There's this one worker who does not need to be the first person you see when ordering. He is very rude and the first question he asks is "what do you want". It seems as if the onboarding process did not teach how to give quality customer service because it makes me not want to tip the workers due to their lack of customer service. I would have given this place a 5 star review because the coffee is good, but the customer service makes me second guess going every time because I'm never in the mood to be belittled at 8 am! read more

Amazing iced vanilla latte! Ordered online and my drink was ready when I arrived. They have a cool patio spot behind the building with plenty of chairs and tables. The staff were all really nice too! I know it's not eco friendly but I appreciate the plastic straw instead of the paper ones that get weird! This is usually one of my go-to coffee spots for meetings in Burbank if I want to suggest somewhere with more of a hip vibe. There's also plenty of parking either in the lot or street behind the coffee shop. The drinks are pricier than your regular Starbucks but not outrageously expensive. Pros: Easy parking, cool hipster vibe and really good coffee and food. If you like sweet drinks like flavored lattes and such, I highly suggest the Cubano, it's like a cinnamon flavored latte. I haven't tried a lot of the food but the pork belly breakfast burrito I got here was amazing. Cons: I don't think this place has AC because the inside always feels just slightly too warm to be comfortable. The patio out back is nice and shady, but I usually avoid this place when it's really hot out. It's also usually crowded here and can be tough to find seating. A lot of people like to come here and work alone, which takes up a lot of tables. read more

This review is only for their Mocha Latte. Parking: They have a tiny, private lot in the back. Be careful when reversing to get out cuz it's hella tight in there. There's also street parking too (watch out for signs). Yelp Bestie Tora M., had mentioned this place to me numerous times whenever we hung out in Burbank. The drink kept me well caffeinated and alert while being stuck on the freeway. Furthermore, it kept me warm and cozy since it also happened to rain that day. The Mocha Latte tasted light, creamy, chocolaty and it smelled nicely aromatic. Best of all, I loved that my barista, who had made me my drink wasn't stingy. He filled my cup full and added a cute heart design to it, aww! Service: The female cashier handling my transaction was nice and quick. My barista was great! I didn't catch his name, but he was a nice and sweet Hispanic barista - great service from preparing, to making, and finishing off my Mocha Latte, yay! Ambience & Decor: Woodsy, farmer chic interior. There's a huge giant rooster mural you can't miss, lol! Once you get your food and drink, they give you a placard number, and you set yourself. You then get your own napkins, utensils and water, while staff looks for your number and brings out your food. Overall, I'm definitely returning here to try out their yummy savory dishes next time. If you are a hipster looking to eat pastries that are more than likely purchased from Whole Foods (updated, they are made on site, they just taste like day old's) and coffee that makes Starbucks look cheap, then this place is for you. So I would frequent this place a lot during my days off to get some work done. Definitely diggin' the atmosphere of this coffee shop! I know there's like 2 other chains/locations of this place all over LA so I can't compare this one to them. But I enjoy the fact that this one's not crowded! They do sorta play loud music, but for the most part it's the chill, old-school type. For a good 2-3 hours, they played the Eagles/Don Henley tracks. I also like the hipster vibe since this place does attract a good majority of them. As another yelper said, it has this modern, industrial feel to it! The staff wears newsboy caps, suspenders and vests. It's cute hahah. The wifi is good. Password's "coffee4burbank". I ordered this prosciutto turnover (w/ 2 ingredients inside I forgot) and a chai. The turnover was undeniably delicious! I was afraid it would taste old like other yelpers mentioned. But it was crispy/flaky at like 3pm in the afternoon! Wish I could eat more here, though it was about $4. So was the chai. The CUBANO. It's so good. I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but man is this good. I enjoyed it! Perfect cinnamon and vanilla context! Overall, this is a good location to get stuff done with your computer and to socialize over a cup of joe! The coffee here is really tasty. You can tell that the quality is far superior to most coffee chains. I love their mocha, both iced and hot, not too sweet. I do wish they had larger sized drinks available to offset the price a bit and since I usually need more than a small cup to get me going. Service is nice, drinks made to order well and quickly. The space is cool, plenty of seating. They also have an assortment of sweet and savory treats, but I always just stick to the mocha. Worth checking out! read more

Food was really good! Line was very slow but the actual service of getting your food out was quite fast (around 3:30 ish)! The coffee was also good, but what will bring me back is the food. Talk about a horrible place with equally horrible coffee... it's this god awful commissary. I'll start with the cleanliness... when THEY start with it! The employees don't even look you in the face. Maybe customer service is overrated because they have none. I witnessed an employee scratching his hair and then hand picking pastries for an order. He saw the disgusted look on my face and reached for gloves. He regretted that he broke their employee code of conduct to "never make eye contact with a customer" smh. More disturbing than the sticky counter tops and floor was the N WORD blasting and repeating in their music choice! I HATE that I was in desperate need of coffee that day, but trust me, they will NEVER get my money again and hopefully not yours! Who's the owner? Dear Coffee Commissary, Your microfoam cappuccinos are heavenly and your Free Range LA breakfast biscuits are to die for! If you're in the area, stop in for some pour over coffee (I prefer the Colombia brew) and / or a cappuccino. If you're hungry... I highly suggest trying one of their Free Range LA breakfast biscuits -they are hands down the best biscuit sandwiches I've ever consumed. (Don't skimp out... Add BACON). The only downfall for me are their pastry options... I'm very big on my morning brew and pastry pairing, and they have very few options. I did try the morning bun, but it wasn't something I was crazed about. Bless Commissary for opening up this location for the Valley folks. I can never force myself to drive to Fairfax area and deal with the people and parking situation. This Commissary location is conveniently located in the heart of Burbank, close to all the studios and close to the freeway. I will make the drive from Sherman Oaks just to come here. They offer indoor and outdoor patio seating, so you'll find me here with my Man and pooch. Few parking spots next to it, but more in the backside next to El Torito.
