Today is try two since my last experience at Cody's and my first experience must have been the same night Sarah R dined in. I agree with Sarah R with regards to the food however, the service leaves A LOT to be desired. My other half and I tend to dine at the bar as there has typically been no wait but since the entire staff changed the new group have no personality and seem to be bothered to serve... News flash this is the line of work you all have elected and while I can sympathize as a former waiter their lack of attention is simply not acceptable... I miss the days when the girls managed the bar they were always pleasant even when it was swamped. It might be time to find a new place... Sad but may be necessary! read more

I've been wanting to try this place for ages but I was highly disappointed. The place was empty and I had to wait 10 minutes before I was seated. Then I had to wait another 15 minutes before my waitress decided to show up and take our drink orders, then she got our drink orders wrong. The food was terrible. The staff acted like they didn't want to be there. I get that being a waitress sucks and it's the last job most people want to have but damn! At least try to look happy and try to get a good tip! Very friendly and attentive staff. Ordered the French onion soup to start and it was way too salty and slightly burned. Loved the salad at the table and nice you can get free seconds. Hubby had a ribeye which he had to send back because it was just raw when he cut into it. Once returned, it was quite good. His sweet potato was burned and he didn't bother to send back. I had the blackened salmon with Dill sauce. Good size piece of salmon. Would have liked better if the skin on the bottom was gone. Dill sauce was delicious. My side was the steamed veggies and they were gross. Hubby loved the rolls. I avoided because watching carbs but damn they looked good! Overall, can't say I'd go back. If given a choice, hands down, Texas Roadhouse is much, much better. read more

Ate there tonight with guests from out of town. Bad move! St Pats Day 2016 to be fair, but even at 5PM they place seemed severely stressed. Service was slow and poor and appeared short handed. Three steak specials were ordered mid rare and medium but all were grossly undercooked and one went back never to reappear! Corn beef was OK but not great and the "bottomless" salad was a bit wilted and overdressed. This was our first time there and they certainly will not get another chance. read more

This is my first regular meal here. We had thanksgiving dinner here once and it was amazing. This time it was just a dinner out. I had the chicken tenders with sweet potato fries. The chicken tenders themselves were delicious. They came with honey mustard on the side but I was curious about their steak sauce so I put a little in a cup and dropped my chicken tenders in them. Amazingly good. The sweet potato fries were waffle fries and as waffle fries frequently are, they were very dry. I didn't eat many of them at all. They have amazing yeast rolls with cinnamon butter that are to die for. The atmosphere is that of a roadhouse (sans the house band behind chicken wire) and this particular one has an old fashioned truck on a jack right in the center. Funny. Worst experience ever! Called to make reservations and was told that they were not accepting reservations for Valentine's Day. Got there at 5:30 on Valentine's Day and was told it was only going to be a 45 minute wait. The hostesses played favorites and sat people ahead of others. People who came in after us got seated, when asked why we were told that they had reservations!!! What????? 2 hours later we were FINALLY seated (we asked for a booth, but got a table instead). The only reason this place got any stars at all is because the food was delicious although the prime rib (which usually melts in your mouth) was a little chewy, but still good, Our server, Ephram, was very professional and personable, he saved our Valentine's Day! read more

Sorry, but that is your third strike. We use to come here frequently and then noticed the attention and food quality began to flag. We gave it a shot last night. The restaurant was maybe half full at 7pm. We were seated, greet time was ok, we ordered and waited until nearly 8:00 to be served. I ordered chicken fajitas and she had the chicken fried chicken. Hers came out as just a fried slab of. Chicken with no gravy on it or on the side with a glob of mashed potatoes. Both were ice cold. The fajitas were to come with a side of tomatoes, lettuce, pico and sour cream. The sour cream was hot and floating in the water released by the old tomato and the hot cream. Not from the lettuce though because there was none. The flour tortillas were wrapped in paper and when unwrapped, they retained the same shape. The two bites of chicken I had was dry. Obviously, mine sat under a heat lamp so long it dried up and heated the sour cream and the other sat in some place other than a heat source. A manager came out and apologized and comped the meals but that doesn't get me full. Having a restaurant background, I hate to say bad things but they need to take a step back and hit the restart button. Off season or not you still have to be guest focused and be staffed to get food cooked and ran to tables. Good luck! read more

I would give Cody's 0 stars if I could but unfortunately Yelp is trying to stifle my anger. I come to Cody's expecting mediocre service with a side of mediocre but well priced food and yet somehow they still managed to disappoint me. Everyone from the hostess to the runners to the waitstaff have proven to not only be incompetent but also extremely rude. I'd suggest that the manager of this place try to either convince everyone to get their act together or just consider closing his doors. Here's hoping you go out of business. read more

I've always liked codys when I visit Bradenton. Tonight was different, service was terrible. The table next to us didn't get all their food and was told that they could get the rest of it (baked potatoes) but it would take 40 minutes. The couple I was with had a tray of water dumped on them with no apologies. We waited a couple of hours for our food. We were told that the kitchen shut down a couple of times. It's amazing how fast this place has gone down hill. The service is so hit or miss. We've ordered the fried chicken breast dinner with no gravy and it still comes out with gravy on it so back it goes and the rest of the family is half way through their meal by the time the corrected dish comes back out. This has happened quite a few times. The front of the restaurant smells like sour mop/old bleach water. The whole peanut shells on the floor thing makes this place seem even more dingy. Went to Cody's tonight was seated at table 31no one came to take our order. After waiting half hour went to the Manager to get a waiter. Placed a order for 4 fajitas dinners waited more than another half hour still no dinners .Waiting more than a hour after seated and still no food is a little long we left At that time the restaurant was not busy. We go to Cody 's often with many of our family & friends and never had this happen. The food was scrumptious, however need to call attention to terrible bar area experience. I decided to dine at the bar and take in some local flavor. The young man and woman working were attentive, but quickly soured. I told the young man he looked familiar, he said "yeah! I'm Seth Green a movie star, then tried to extort $20 for a photo with him". WTF? There were 10 or so televisions, all had sports on, when I asked the young lady(sic) if she could put on the woman's volleyball game of which my granddaughter is part of, she claimed she was unable due to "exclusive football night" , later on some "regulars" came in and one of the TV's were quickly changed to a basketball game....that little stinker. However my food was delicious, steak was succulent, cinnamon butter and rolls are to die for. So sad for the bar employees. If you go here, don't dine in the bar area while these two are working. Our server was new so none of this review has anything to do with the service which was good! We went for the buy one get one fajitas, they were ok, they give you enough lettuce, cheese, and sour cream to make about one fajita. Chicken was good but steak had no flavor. Now the margaritas were possibly the worst I have ever had, they had a weird aftertaste like a lime a Rita or some other malt beverage trying to be a Rita. Margaritas are my favorite adult beverage and rarely will I let one go to waste, these did. Codys needs to step it up or I am heading to Chilis next time... read more

It's a cool place to experience. The staff are friendly and attentive, good drink specials. The food is so so if you like grease, over cooking, and did I mention more grease. The menu is over priced for the food they serve and not many healthy choices. Oh, and did I mention lots of grease. I don't think the oil is changed often which gives me the creeps or kept at a optimum temp. for deep frying. The onion rings were so saturated with grease I had to throw them away. One word: awful. If there were an option to put 0 stars, I would. We called in an hour before we went to the restaurant but they claimed they were not taking reservations, so my family and I decided to just walk in. There we were told it was a 20-30 minute wait for a table, so we sat at the bar as we waited and next thing we knew an hour had gone by. We asked if there were any updates on our table and they had said they had called us back already, though we never received a call nor placed a reservation. Despite the slow service, the food was awful and the restaurant was completely unsanitary. The salad alone was enough for me to feel incredibly sick. As of writing this review, we are still in a pandemic and I find it very important to be as cleanly as possible. When I had looked in the kitchen, only ONE CHEF was wearing a mask, and they were wearing it wrong. Most of the servers were wearing their masks wrong as well. This restaurant had smelt like if a flock of pigeons projectile vomited regurgitated cheese, and then shat on it. It's been two hours and we are still experiencing the aftermath (puking). The steaks are reliably good. The french onion soup is the best in town. Hubby swears they have the best chicken wings as well. The shrimp tastes frozen, avoid the shrimp. Very happy overall with our food experience on every visit. However, the service is not good. The waiters are polite, but simply too busy to give good service. The kitchen appears to have a problem with timing. Our entrees arrived before our appetizer. Our salad arrived with the entrees. The manager was very helpful and comped a dish for the inconvenience, but I would rather have everything arrive in the right order. I'll start with the positives. The serving sizes were huge, and the cheese logs were great! Peanuts were great. However, our service was horrible. They forgot to seat us and crossed our party off the list, leaving us to wait awhile for a table in the first place. We waited over 10 minutes for drinks, and even longer for the alcoholic ones. Terrible service. It took 30 mins to be waited on. The server brought drink and it took another 30 mins to get drinks refilled, and that was because I got the manager. When the food came out it was barely warm. My husband set his ribs on the edge of the table because they were terrible. 15 mins later the server came and asked if he wanted a box. They took off cost of ribs and that's it's. The server blamed the kitchen, but clearly "he's not really a server". If the food is slow tell your customers and at least refill drinks. never again! Absolutely love this place. If you can get past the bread without eating yourself into a coma, you will be pleasantly rewarded with one of there burgers. I have to hold myself back because at the end of the day the burgers are worth it. The service could definitely be better. The staff quality is not in line with the food they are serving.
