The entire experience was worth telling others about! Enjoy!!!!! read more

I love a good bbq pulled pork sandwich and this did not disappoint. It was a soft bun with flavorful pork in a tangy bbq sauce. However, I was very disappointed in the Mac and cheese. It was a greasy overcooked mess. The restaurant was as clean as well as the restroom. The servers were pleasant and welcoming. There is ample seating and parking with handicap accessibility. read more

Takeout for a party of 10. Super friendly and efficient service. Large selection of bbq, sides, and excellent corn bread. We got pulled pork, sliced and chopped brisket, pulled chicken, mac & cheese, cole slaw, and cornbread. We made our own beans to keep them vegetarian. Definitely will be back! read more

We ordered Sonny's barbecue through the drive-through and brought it home to eat. I had the beef brisket and mac & cheese, and it was very tasty. My wife and daughter really enjoyed their chicken fingers, beans, and cornbread. Sweet tea was very good too. Everything was good overall, except the french fries they got a little soggy in the container. I want to give a shout out to Emilio who was at the drive through window. He gave us really good service, he was very friendly, pleasant, and accommodating. His positive attitude, definitely stood out and made the experience better. read more

3.5 This is such a hard place to review. Over all, this is a good place for food. Sometimes service is a little slow. Sometimes we don't get everything we have ordered in our take our bags. Sometimes we get charged for items we didn't order. Maybe that is why it is not a go to place for food. Then after a while, we go a few times a month again till we start seeing the discrepancies again. 15.08.2025 read more

Sonny's is my solid go to BBQ! So delicious. Best turkey and bbq sauce in Sarasota and Bradenton. Delicious bbq beans, crisp crinkle cut fries and cornbread. Ample and reasonably priced portions. And the order is always accurate, carefully packaged... a rarity for delivery orders! read more

Sonny's is always good for quick BBQ. It's casual and convenient to get to. The service is always great. We ordered the Turkey "big deal" and the Pick 2 combo. You get a ton of food as well. Tons of TVs to watch the football games. read more

I've been a customer of Sonny's since the 70's. Starke was the first location I went to. This location is very clean and had excellent service. Typical barbecue but enjoyed it nevertheless. read more

Had a great dinner with hubby and our twin Grandsons. Food was and service was wonderful as usual when we come here. Enjoyed the 4 meat combo which is always more than enough for me to eat 3 times off. Grandsons had the BBQ grilled chicken sandwich with chipotle bacon and sauce and the BBQ cheese burger with chipotle bacon and sauce. Dining area was clean and comfortable. Great place for lunch or dinner with good BBQ. read more

Sonny's BBQ - a view of the dining area - Barbeque Near Me - Bradenton, Florida

I just wanted to put out a head-up about this Sonny's. The last week of August an associate and I dined at the Sonny's by the interstate in Bradenton. My associate hadn't eaten all day and was hungry. We placed our orders and when my associate took a bite of their beef brisket mentioned that it tasted funny. They were hungry so they ate a couple of pieces anyway. My associate called me at approx. 3 a.m. early the next morning saying that they had food poisoning. I don't know if they went to the E.R. or not, but if they did then the specific type of food poisoning could probably be determined and reported to the health department. Since my associate hadn't eaten all day, the food poisoning could be traced straight back to this Sonny's. I did some follow-up investigation and determined that this Sonny's has been cited before for health violations, including multiple items (such as cut tomatoes, potato salad, and cooked meats) held at unsafe cold-holding temperatures above 41°F. You might want to use caution regarding dining at this Sonny's. read more

I've been to Sonny's many times. I went last week and the food wasn't as good as it was. The portions were smaller than usual and prices were much higher. The service was slower than usual. read more

Good good, in my opinion it's the best BBQ spot east of the Mississippi. Being from the midwest I know good BBQ and this is the closest. You get a decent amount of food and plenty of sides. My favorite is the St Louis ribs, with the sweet sauce. Garlic toast, baked beans and the sweet potato. My wife quarter chicken, brisket and baked beans. She had the muffin which she says is delicious. The customer service was pretty good and the restaurant looks pretty clean and it didn't take long to receive our food. read more

The inconsistency in the food quality is very hit or miss with takeout. A pulled pork dinner had 3/4 black burndt ends but it was mostly burnt skin. There was very little edible meat. The baked beans were skimpy and the sweet potato was ok. The garlic bread was unremarkable at best. I was so disgusted. When I eat in the restaurant the quality is decent. And when I get takeaway I go inside to order. But I can't see it before I get home. Save yourself some money and skip Sonny! read more

Had dinner here last Friday night. Our server seemed new but was very attentive, I think her name was Christina. I had the Turkey Big Deal and my hubby had the Baby back Ribs. Everything tasted fresh and we both loved the green beans & garlic toast. Thank you Sonny's for an enjoyable meal and hiring great staff!! read more

We always have to stop at a Sonny's whenever we are in Florida. We enjoy the ribs and brisket usually. This time we had sliced pork instead of pulled pork. The pulled pork is usually better as the slices were too thin. A thicker slice would be better. The sides are always good. We had beans, sweet potato, and a side salad. The unlimited sweet tea is also a great choice. read more

Service was GREAT! Food was hot and delicious! The restaurant was clean and comfortable.

I like Sonny's, I do, but it's just not 5 stars. Smells amazing, and usually very good, but they are often stingy on the sliced pork serving ... and this location never seems to offer all you can eat option to get more. Service is usually okay plus with cute country gals, but the welcome at the front door is usually awkward and unwelcoming. read more

My husband and I rarely go out to eat. We transport rescue dogs and decided to stop at Sonny's. We were started quickly for a Saturday night. Our server was great but it was so freaking cold in there that my husband was shaking and his teeth were chattering. He was wearing long pants and long sleeves. The table next to us also complained about the cold. When our food came, neither of us could enjoy it, so we packed it up and left. It was just so disappointing because we never go out to eat and when we did, we couldn't eat it. $60 wasted. If you decide to go to this location, wear a parka and gloves and maybe a hat. read more

Terrible food. Took takeout for 4 adults and 2 children. My 4 meat combo was full of grease and fat. White meat chicken was only thing not fatty. Wife got a salad with what was supposed to be chopped brisket , what she got was two blobs of fat and grizzle that should have been thrown out when person cooking the meat trimmed it. Childrens grilled cheese was literally one slice of American cheese on toast. Children chicken fingers was two pieces and ten French fries. Also was missing several sides that should have been with adult meals. Note I have eaten at Sonny's BBQ in Spring Hill several times and quality and volume was so much better. Will not order from the Bradenton one again. read more

Our first order from Sonny's was a great. The chicken and turkey are delicious, juicy and just the right amount of smoke flavor. The cornbread was really good, actually some of the best we've had, moist and full of corn flavor with a hint of sweetness. read more

Most BBQ restaurants have previously cooked meats warmed up and taste leftover. Sonnys taste like it just came off the pit smoker. Premium meats, great sides, and the best service for a one $ price. Roomy, clean, rustic clutch. Finally tried the place and will be back every week! read more

SONNYS RIBS corporate has somehow managed dropped the ball again. Increased prices, ended the salad bar, cut all portion sizes, petite size baby back ribs. Now they have the honor of THE WORST COLESLAW of any bbq restaurant. They changed to a cheaper, very course cut cabbage, which my experience it had an odd aftertaste. Almost a metallic flavor. Server confirmed that many customers were not liking it either. GOOD JOB SONNYS, again......NOT! read more

The food is great however, the service has been disappointing. I've visited this location several times and each time I've experienced issues such as being short changed or finding that part of my order was missing. read more

Great food until I see my 10, 8 and 6 year old pulling out plastic in the pulled pork out of their mouth and meat. A lot of plastic from the meat. Told and showed the manager and got the food replaced. Concerning so please be aware and always check your children's food thoroughly because I overlooked the food thinking we come here all the time it should be fine ‍ read more

Whitney always gives us the best service, always friendly and attentive Food was great.

I had the pulled pork with there sweet sauce on the garlic bread and I put coleslaw on the pork , oh my gosh it was so yummy

Food was great, nice portions! Had one problem their credit card computer would not work. I had placed my order and waited for some time. Myself and another gentleman were waiting. The manager came out and gave us our orders. I had no cash. I thought the manager said come back and pay later. I went back the next day to pay for my food which again was great. I walked in and the cashier recognized me and said our friend came back. I told them I was there to pay for my food from yesterday. The manager said you don't have to pay for that order, I just asked you to come visit us again. So I ordered more food paid for it and enjoyed that Order also. Yes I recommend Sonny's! read more

I love Sonny's. I only get to go when visiting Florida, so it is always a treat. My favorite is either pulled or sliced pork. They also have great chopped brisket. The coleslaw is second to none. I like their garlic toast better then their corn bread. They have fried okra and corn nuggets as appetizers--outstanding! read more

Melissa at Sonny's off SR 64 in Bradenton was very pleasant and attentive on our visit Monday July 7th. Thank you so much!

The food was delicious and served by a nice friendly fast attentive server named Melissa.

The food is amazing and Melissa was wonderful!! We love Sonny's!! Wish we still had the one in Venice!!

Melissa, did an excellent job, greeted us right away and gave great suggestions for dinner!

Meat was so fatty. My husband had the sampler. I had pulled pork. It was so bad that we couldn't eat it at all. Used to be our go to restaurant. No more. read more

Stopped in here for the first time. Pulled chicken sandwiches, baked sweet potato and tots all fantastic. Service from Whitney was excellent! read more

Rude and inept. Ordered 3 bbq dinners through GrubHub and all I got was some garlic bread and ears of corn. Called the restaurant and spoke to a very rude manager who blew me off telling me she personally bagged the order so she doesn't know what to tell me but call the driver. (Which I already did). The receipt on the bag was correct but a box of bread and corn doesn't amount to $60/ 3 bbq dinners. Bad enough I didn't get my food but not even so much as an apology. So the Sonny's manager thinks the driver drove to a different Sonny's between there and my house (which doesn't exist) bought corn and bread to give me and kept my food? And then she admitted the drover only picked up one order (mine). read more
