The restaurant is all about honoring veterans, and pictures/patches on the walls are all donated from local veterans (or their families). Any first responder or veteran gets a discount or treat! The NC Style pulled pork sandwich is a pulled pork sandwich with Cole slaw on top. This is my go-to, especially because the sweetness of the Cole slaw blends perfectly with the pulled pork and bbq sauce (that I put on it). Plus, it seems like a great deal because you're essentially getting a "side" with the sandwich. The brisket comes moist (more fatty) or lean (less fatty) depending on what you prefer. Either one is super juicy and delicious. No matter what time of year, the cobbler is amazing. They change cobbler flavors but ALL of them are delightful. read more

This was unexpectedly some of the most delicious BBQ I've had in awhile! The brisket can be ordered lean or more fatty and I was happy with my fatty selection. I skipped the bun for gluten free purposes so just ate a big ol' pile of meat and it had incredible flavors! So tender too. They have several sauces to choose from at their tables. But people who need to eat gluten free like myself, beware! Be sure to go online and check out their gluten free menu in advance! I did not do this and ended up consuming one of their sauces with gluten, the Texas Twang one. And unfortunately suffered the consequences in the days following. I wish the person taking our order would have mentioned they have that GF menu available...she had made it sound like gluten free was so easy and not a biggie at their restaurant. Talk about amazing service here! The dark haired girl working around the tables greeting everyone was so delightful and friendly. She did not have a name tag. She always checked on everyone to make sure their meals were great. She asked us if we had been to Mission before and we stated no. She proceeded to breakdown the bbq sauces. She then came back with 6 samples of their sides and let us know that she appreciated us picking Mission and hope we enjoyed everything's My hubby ordered the pulled chicken sandwich and I sampled it and the sides and they were great. We really loved the potato salad and the Mac and cheese the most and it was just such a surprise to get such a generous sample of all of their sides. Fast food with that slow cooking, love taste from a southern joint!!! This place was absolutely amazing! it was clean we were taken care of right away. Our food was ready in five minutes or less and it tasted incredibly good. The prices are great we had for sides, collard greens. They were perfect baked mac & cheese. They were perfect cornbread. It was delicious baked beans. It was delicious and caramel apple cobbler. I had two meats smoked brisket and pulled pork. Josh had smoked chicken wings. it was like 12 fat delicious wings for like 12 to 14 bucks. Everything just taste amazing Josh had a Coke. Ok more than likely I'm giving this bbq spot 4 stars for their delicious brisket I mean it was moist, tender, and very flavorful. My wife just stopped by the mission BBQ on University Dr at 330pm on a Tuesday. We parked open3d the doors and stepped in to the wonderful smell of BBQ... and the yelling of 2 employees from a counter across the restaurant of "WE'RE CLOSED!!" I tried to ask why, when the sign out from clearly says open 11am-9pm, but before I could, they screamed out We're Closed, yet again. If you have to close early because of problem, 1) lock your doors, 2) post a sign on said doors to let people know, 3) if you haven't done 1 and 2, be courteous enough to have someone walk over and saysomething like "I'm so sorry, but we are closed during normal operating hours because (insert reason here). So, now we were not be recommending them to anyone and advising family, friends and followers to avoid the chain at all costs. read more

I hate to even leave this review, because I've had many great experiences at this location. That being said we had a really gross experience tonight. I was hosting a Veterans Day dinner, and ordered a platter. Salad had a living slug in it. Person ran to the trash can to puke. Which forced another person to puke. Then no more than 30 seconds later. A long brown hair was pulled from another veteran's mouth while eating the green beans... forcing another person to almost puke. Apparently there is some food sensitivity amongst this group. As mentioned I've never had such an experience here. And to this places credit, they refunded the order instantly over the phone. Newish location The décor at each Mission BBQ honors the heroes that make up the branches of the military and First Responders. It is a good reminder. As soon as we walked in someone at a register waved to show us where to go. This is an order at the counter place where they call your name when your food is ready. We arrived unprepared and spent a few minutes looking over the overhead menu. They offer all the usual meats and most of the sides you would expect at a BBQ place, and turkey. I selected their Pulled Pork with a side of Baked Beans. While we waited for our food, which only took a few minutes, I got to look at the clean organized area behind the counter where the trays of food are assembled. The entire restaurant looks like it recently opened, even though it has been 5 months. A well kept place. With our food, we headed to a table. A roll of paper towels and a sixpack of BBQ sauces waited for us. We spent the rest of our time eating our food, sampling the various sauces, each with its own distinctive flavor. When we walked in we were suddenly greeted and was amazed by all the artwork and history on the walls definitely took us a minute to soak it all in. My father and I are from New Jersey, and we were visiting Florida for business. We stopped in this location thinking it would be great for lunch. We were wrong, it was amazing!! Beyond the food, which was top of the line bbq (that brisket made my day), what made this restaurant special was their commitment to their cause, and especially the staff. Jamie and Leanne took the time to spend with us to explain the menu, tell us how much we would enjoy it from their personal experience, advised us what to eat based on our preferences, and spend time to get to know us as we all shared our stories. You could see how much they cared about where they worked, and also us as their customers. My dad and I agreed to make a stop in there every time we end up in Florida, not only for the food, but also to hopefully bump into them again to say hi and enjoy their kindness again. Great chain BBQ in Florida - reminds me a bit of a Rudy's in Texas. Has great service from Paloma who overheard us at the table talking about wishing to try the other sides and brought over samples of each of them. The have 6 different BBQ sauces - the Florida Gator Bite was an interesting surprise. Prices were average for BBQ - it takes time to smoke the meats so it cost a little more than other cuisines. The restaurant was pretty clean when we went and had plenty of seating. Unacceptable for fast food. They say they make everything fresh here, but my ribs were ready within two minutes, so my guess was they were just sitting around somewhere.
