Flew down to Florida for a quick weekend get away to celebrate my father's birthday. The first night in town he asked if I wanted BBQ for dinner, and suggested Hickory Hollow. Just a short drive from his home, it's apparently one of his go to spots. It's a small space, with limited seating, and when we arrived, I got a good laugh at the (2) goats in the a pen in the parking lot bundled up for the cold weather. There was a bit of a wait inside, but as tabled cleared, they re-sat new parties quickly. The menu had a good variety of options, their sides were listed on a seperate "menu", made with removable velcro items, so when they run out, they can remove it form the list. I went with the combo plate, getting baby back ribs with pull pork, and potato salad and mac and cheese as my sides. The food came out quickly, and the the portion sizes were pretty good. In addition to my food, it also came with a few huge corn fritters, which were tasty and super moist. The ribs and pulls pork were very tasty the mac and cheese was ok, but no better than what you'd get from the blue box, but the potato salad was a bit more authentic. Service was friendly, good portions and fair pricing. I'd visit again !

Hands down the best food in town. They have a large menu and plenty of vegetables! The BBQ sauce is homemade and so so good! The Sangria is delicious, too! 10/10 every single time!

I feel bad bc I have a lot of nostalgia for Hickory Hollow and nothing was wrong, but the pulled pork sandwiches were really just fine. So were the collards. It's not bad by any means; we ate all our food, we'll likely go back again. My kid loved the applesauce. The corn fritters are a must-order.

Everything is wonderful about Hickory Hollow barbecue. It's the only place I will go in my town where I live and the people are wonderful.

So sad they dropped the smoked prime rib from their menu. Staff was polite while explaining the new menu.

Hubby got his usual drink, and I got my coconut Mojito, but this time in a fancy tiki glass. Learned that they're only served indoors, as we have only eaten at the bar or outside by the beach. Got our standard ahi tuna poke nachos, Yum, and a dozen chargrilled oysters, Yum Yum! Hubby and I shared Joe fish tacos, grilled, and they were delicious as always The change in tonight's meal with Jenna "parading" ( ok, not exactly true...) through the restaurant with HUGE brownie sundae s--3 if I recall correctly. Now, I am not a big chocolate fan at all, in fact, I avoid chocolate, yuck, and hubby has to watch his sugar, but when she told me about bananas foster bread pudding-- well, you can see where this is headed! We have never had room for dessert before, and tonight was no exception, but I was enticed by Jenna, and then Kayleen , so...OMG! Absolutely delicious! A bit sweet, but we finished the ice cream and the bananas and a little bit more than that, and got the rest to go. So glad that this is literally about a mile and a half down the road from us, so maybe next time. ;) Also, love the cute merch: jewelry, stickers, T-shirts, caps, stuffed animals, lotion, etc., etc.

It's a large place with a lot of outdoor space including a large outdoor bar as well. Since we wanted to enjoy the view, we decided to sit outside on the deck. Since it was early, we were the only ones outside. The music was really loud; so loud we had to shout, so we asked if it could be turned down. The manager agreed and it was turned down. A little. We still had to shout a bit to talk with each other, so we asked again, but they wouldn't turn it down any more. So, not very nice for us, the only customers on the deck. Our waitress was hustling, perhaps she had too many tables assigned to her. I had the Jambalaya, which was OK, not great. It seems like the ingredients were cheap. Don't think we'll be back.

They've recently scaled back the menu, which seems to have helped with consistency. On Father's Day we tried the lemon beignets and skillet hash both were genuinely good. Most recently Ryan had the ribs and I was finally able to get chicken this time, which made for a solid sandwich (I like to switch out the bison burger for a grilled chicken) The service remains the standout as always. It feels like the feedback was taken seriously and things are moving in the right direction. Cautiously optimistic and glad we gave it another chance. One thing I'd love to see is a weekend brunch menu -- it feels like a missed opportunity for this space since there are not a lot of gluten free breakfast places nearby.

Wait staff were very friendly and the decor was fine. We ordered two drinks, a Gin and Tonic and a Rum and Coke. After a while of pondering the menu, our drinks arrived and we ordered the Steak Tips and Blackened Mahi-Mahi, and two wedge salads. The salads arrived a short while later and were large and tasty. Our meals arrived, the steak tips were fine, but my Mahi-mahi was anything but fresh. It had an extremely bad taste. I flagged down our server and indicated that it was not edible. She asked if I would like to order something else, I said yes, I would have the Steak tips. 15 minutes later, our server swung by and indicated that there were several tickets still in front of my meal. 5 minutes later (my wife had finished her meal) the Manager came by, provided my new meal and indicated he was sorry and would comp a dessert. The total for the bill was $140 not including gratuity. Other restaurants provide much better return for our money. It will be a very long time if ever before we attempt another visit.

Orders messed up multiple times None of the plates brought out to table landed at the right person. Draft beer ordered came out in bottles. Soda - a few orders - came out flat. Food was marginal: None of the first batch of fries came out warm. 6 plates. The replacement fries sent out later were fried to desiccation. Smash burgers were good. Philly pork sandwich was on point too. Mussels tasted like ammonia. But we were advised by the.sharp talking manager they were "fresh" (not old as I, a 40 year fisherman suggested). She gleamed when she stated she took them off the bill. (? Ok. Thanks?) And said she'd talk to her supplier. Sorry folks. If you have the food in your custody it's on you if you if you choose to serve food that's spoiled. Not recommended. As locals we try to keep in palmetto. But these guys all seemed more interested in getting us out so they could go home. Changed from an angry * to ** as my lovely wife reminded me the burgers were good. And the $7 beers in bottle - not flat.

The only thing was that all the food was old, there was no bread available and most of the choices were no longer being replenished. But we still paid the same as everyone else. I do not have a problem with the lack of options and the older food at the end of the buffet but i believe if I will not get the same quality as the earlier people and the options they should lower the price for the scraps squad. I don't think this is a place I would recommend
