Smoqehouse was our choice for an early dinner. It is a small place along Gulf Dr, yet easy to spot with its bull and its black and white look. They have a few picnic tables out front and more seating inside. We got a parking spot no problem and went inside. It is an order at the counter place with a dark wood feel. This is not your typical BBQ place, their website describes their restaurant as fast casual + BBQ fusion. Many traditional BBQ items such as ribs and baked beans are not on the menu, yet they offer other items like a Cuban sandwich. I went BBQish and ordered their Double Brisket Burger, and Canadian with a large order of Poutine. I recommend checking out the menu before you go the first time just to make sure you see something you want. My brisket burger was very tender and easy to eat. I liked it even though the caramelized onion added a burnt taste. It was a lot of food. The flavor of the poutine was subtle, and was a lot of fries. High marks on their Cuban sandwich from my dinner companion. I liked the place, liked the people, liked the other customers who we chatted with. We are local but seldom make it out to the beach so nice vacation vibes rubbed off on us as well. We left full and happy. read more

Gentleman taking order to go was terrific, engaged in conversation with me while very politely taking the order. Had the brisket burger and loaded chips. Brisket burger was good, a bit greasy, but flavor was ok. The loaded chips were definitely different. Chips were a barbecue flavor, smothered in blue cheese dressing and large chunks of blue cheese. We were driving around the island exploring and came across this adorable BBQ joint. I told Bob that we had to come back and try it for sure to see if it could rival my fav BBQ spot in St. George Island. Sure enough we went back today and what are the odds it's fantastic my SGI spot definitely has some competition! I had a pulled pork sandwich with slaw and I had Bob get a Cuban sandwich (because he likes them and also because my eyes are always bigger than my stomach and I needed a bite or half lol.). We ended up splitting both sandwiches and both were 10/10 no notes! The bbq was delicious the pulled pork sandwich was messy just like it should be to get the ultimate enjoyment factor. The Cuban sandwich was so so good like I may have to go get another one before I leave town. My kiddo got the kids pulled pork sandwich on a slider bun with fries, a cutie and a drink which was the perfect portion for her she loved it!! The parking is horrendous but it's well worth it I sat with the car idling while Bob ran in luckily I was able to get a parking spot upfront. We sat inside and enjoyed the nice cool/chill environment. When you walk in they have the menu written in chalk on the side. The staff were professional and fast with our food. My order was the brisket burger and loaded chips. This burger was delicious! For an additional $3 you can make it a double. The loaded chips were amazing too - these chips came with bleu cheese crumbles and garlic thyme aioli. Fan-freaking-tastic. Stopped in after a day at the beach and the amazing smell hits you when you walk in. Had the Korean beef and everything about it was great. Messy but worth it. Staff was absolutely helpful and gave some suggestions. My ONLY issue is I wanted to try like 4 different things on the menu lol. The building is very small and you might miss it driving by. They do have tables outside but it was too hot in the amazing Florida sun. I will make it a POINT to come back here when I come back to Siesta Key. The food here is delicious!!! We have came here a couple of times and have never been disappointed. My favorite thing is the Poutine. I think to take it to the next level they should take their cheese curds and toss em in some flor and seasonings and throw them in the fryer. It would be epic. The whole place is clean and you can tell they really care about cleanliness and upkeep. The service is here is different. You really only talk to someone while you order and that's it. It's an excellent lunch or great casual dining spot. I highly recommend it. Parking is very limited (about 7 spots), if drivers park close. We got there at noon, just as peak lunchtime started on a Tuesday (mid-Jan) and took the last available spot, lucky us. I highly recommend you place your order in advance online to-go for parking purpose. If you order later than 12:30PM, bring another person to pickup the food while you hover in the area with the vehicle. If you're living nearby(lucky Y-O-U), walking or biking is your best option, transportation wise. Most sandwiches are $12 now and that's a very decent price for the location. Getting excellent food too is a plus. My Cuban sandwich was perfect (get 2 sides and spit the Cuban sandwich would work also) and the beer polished it off. The Brussel Sprouts (not shown in photo) were crunchy, crispy and burnt in all the right places. Don't split the Sprouts with anyone! You'll regret that like I did. read more

Oh the yumminess!!! My family down from NC even gave this place great reviews. We were told it was pricey, but disagree. Maybe if you eat more than we did, it might seem that way. The items are a la cart. So when you order a sandwich, it is just a sandwich. Fries are extra. With my child being picky, he ate his sandwich (should have asked for sauce on the side because he is not a sauce kind of person) and fries, while I ate his orange with my sandwich. Fries are extra if you want an order with your sandwich. Not a bad deal for us, though. The place is small, though. The five of us were fine with the two other families there. I was a bit skeptical of a bbq place on the island, but a nice option if you don't want seafood. It is a great space and decent outdoor seating as well. They specialize in bbq sandwiches. Was it the best bbq sandwich I have had, no, but it was a good portion for the price. I got the fried Brussel Sprouts and Korean Beef Sandwich. The brussels were good, nothing special but were crispy and not over fried. The sandwich was filling and had a good flavor. I typically don't shy away from dousing my bbq with sauce, but this sandwich could have benefited (in my opinion) from less sauce. It has a tasty, tangy sweet flavor but it was rich and intense. I couldn't taste the meat fully due to all the sauce they loaded on. I would go back and try some of their other sandwiches and the service was nice and quick. read more

This place is awesome. It is not what you would expect out of a typical barbecue place, but that's what I love about it. I had the Korean Beef and my wife had the Islander. She had the chips with her meal and I had to try the poutine (made with brisket gravy!!) The flavors were incredible and it all worked together so well.
