Let me start by saying, I am not a fan of BBQ food. I am having a get together and wanted to try the pulled pork. Since they offered beer and wine (I'm a wine drinker), I decided to go to taste test the pulled pork to see if I wanted to order a few pounds for my gathering. I ordered my pork with a salad and a glass of wine. Even though they advertise wine, I was told they didn't have wine. I said - then you shouldn't advertise that you do. Blank stare. So I said - you should let your manager know. Another blank stare. Do young folks these days have no clue what to do with feedback. The food was OK (remember I'm not a BBQ person). Great food! It kind of reminded me of an upgraded Sonny's BBQ. We came here for lunch with a group of friends after one of my sons played in the nationals here in town. We were hot and exhausted from being in the sun all day. As soon as we walked in, we were able to walk up to the counter and place our orders and they came out pretty fast. While eating, a gentleman came around and asked if we were enjoying everything, in which we told him we did. He started talking to us about this being his second job as he works for a college locally. Very nice gentleman, whose customer service skills were top notch. I ordered the half yard chicken, and they accommodated me by allowing me to get all white meat. The breast was so tender and falling apart. It was not dry at all, and I could not believe how they perfected the texture of it without drying it out. My family went to mission bbq for the first time today for lunch ... from the time we arrived and Marcus the manager and Rita who prepares all of the fresh home made recipes daily both helped us with choosing our meals. We ordered the brisket , Mac & Cheese , collard greens and to say everything was amazing is an understatement. It's one of the best bbq places I've had in a very long time. Rita was so helpful and went above and beyond to make our visit enjoyable Marcus took the time to check on us after we received our food and we can't thank him enough for his hospitality At noon ( everyone) stood for the pledge of allegiance ( I thought that was so awesome) and I must say, if you visit you need to try the brisket ( moist) and don't forget the mac&cheese it's a 10 out of 10 !! I'm not much of a chain restaurant person. Honestly I think they are usually a plague on society. But this small chain barbecue place has win me over. I love their barbecue. All of it. And their sides. And their desserts. And although the dining room is Americana and a bit cheesy, it and the overall patriotic theme is a bit endearing. I especially like that they play the national anthem at noon and everyone stops and stands for the anthem. And they are very good to veterans. I happened to eat here, by chance, on Veteran's Day only to discover that much of my meal was free. I didn't expect that at all, but did think it was a very nice gesture. Overs it is the food that brings me back. (The brisket is wonderful). But the other touches are nice as well. I do look forward to opportunities to eat at Mission BBQ. read more

So the food is fantastic. We had a horrible experience the day after Milton. When searching online after hours and hours of cleanup we were happy to see they were open. We quickly headed there, our mouths watering for a hot meal, or anything really. We had arrived and parking lot full we attempted to go inside the restaurant. The doors were locked and on a piece of paper the note said "closed" ?? We could see customers inside eating and when they saw us, they pointed and laughed. I know it's no fault of the restaurant just rude patrons. My question is this, when staff inside saw groups of people at the door she politely opened the door and said "we're out of food" huh? All food? Everything? C'mon...seems like the management could have made better decisions on how to approach the shortage. How about a little compassion for people who were tired and hungry OR how about making sure your social media page is correct! When you looked on the website, it reflects OPEN. Even as we were standing there. I'm so disappointed in Mission BBQ. Do better for your locals in Bradenton! read more

We have been in town for several weeks visiting our Mom who is at home with hospice and have had lunch several times. There aren't many times that a trip to a restaurant fills your soul as much as it does your stomach but that's exactly what happened for my wife and I. We decided to visit Mission BBQ for the first time and we are so glad we did. From the moment we entered the doors, it was a wonderful experience. I cannot say enough good things about Kalen! He welcomed us with a smile and told us with excitement all about the restaurant. After we sampled a few meats, we ordered sandwiches and sides which were all delicious. The baked beans, sweet potato, pulled pork and brisket were our favorites. During our meal, Kalen and another worker visited our table to bring us a few other sides and even a brownie sample. I went to Mission for the first time today. Holy Cow. I had the pulled pork sandwich and used the Kansas City sauce. That pulled pork is absolutely excellent. A large group of us went to Mission BBQ in Bradenton, Fl. Casual atmosphere with wooden tables. I had a brisket sandwich with coleslaw. It was a HUGE sandwich and delicious! Coleslaw was good, too. Service was fast. We were served quickly, and there were about 20 of us. The manager took the time to introduce himself and requested we let him know if there was anything we needed. Everyone in our group was very pleased with their menu items picked. I even went back and got the bannana pudding, I couldn't resist. It was homemade and excellent. The food was one of the best barbecue I've ever had and I'm shocked considering it's a chain restaurant. I would've taken pictures had we not inhaled everything before thinking to leave this review. The service was 10/10, because of the helpful suggestions of foods and friendly staff made us love it all the more. Everybody had a smile on their face and was happy to be there. They're the main reason I'm leaving a review, which is rare. The scenery was refreshing with the love of our country being present with flags and badges all around, it's awesome to be in a place where our country is obviously loved. I hope the staff gets more recognition for their hard work because it's obvious they love their job and have a good system going. A reflective lunch Patriotic feelings bubbled to the surface even before I walked into Mission BBQ for lunch today, after seeing military vehicles around the building. Inside Mission the décor honors our country and the heroes that make it great and keep it safe. We arrived shortly before noon, and at the top of the hour everyone stood when the Star-Spangled Banner was played. It is an order at the counter restaurant where your name is taken and called when your food is ready. We arrived just before the lunch rush, so ordering was quick and easy. Minutes later there was a line. I often say busy places are good places, and that held true again today. The wait for the food was short, by the time I messed around getting our drinks poured and carried to our table, the food was ready. Another thing I say is there is no such thing as bad barbeque, and that also held true for me. My food was very good, I ordered a 3 Meat Sampler and was very satisfied with the result. Without realizing I had a choice I ended up with the lean brisket. I learned later I could have also ordered their moist brisket. Being lean made it a pretty solid stack of sliced meat, definitely better for me than something more fatty. With one of their six sauces it became plenty moist for me, and plenty good. My second meat choice was pulled pork, another generous sample that had its own good flavor. Each meat is served without any sauce, giving you the option to personalize it with the sauce of our choice, or nothing at all. My third choice was their classic sausage, made exclusively for Mission BBQ and outstanding. Yea, I do like a little fat. Equally excellent with or without mustard. While at the restaurant we got to learn some of the history of the Mission BBQ chain. The business started 10 years to the day of the 9-11 attack on our country, with a mission to honor our heroes as well as providing great BBQ. First time visiting Mission BBQ. Had received really high marks from a friend. I was excited when I first learned they were opening in Bradenton. I ordered the beef brisket and sausage with sides of baked beans and mac-n- cheese. The sides were out of this world amazing. The sausage wasthe well smoked and had great flavor. The beef brisket was a bit of a letdown. It was very fatty and burnt. Not even the amazing choices of BBQ sauces tableside could help the brisket. Server came around to see how everything was tasting. I explained my dissatisfaction with the brisket and she inquired how I ordered it. I was confused as I used English words to order. Lol. She advised that they should've asked me if I wanted lean, moist, or burnt ends. It certainly looked like I had been give burnt ends and she advised that those are only supposed to be give out to people that specifically order them. She returned a short time later with another helping of the lean brisket and asked that I try them. I was so full at this point, but I did at least give it a try. This was the lean brisket. What a huge difference. Not even close to what I had received. She also offered me a free sandwich card in the hopes that I would return. I think I will. I have always loved the vibe of Mission BBQ. The food is always consistent. The place is always clean. The staff is always super friendly. Last week I even got some free fries with the smoked burger I tried because they had extra. Though this time I made a grave mistake by not ordering the pastrami they have for a limited time. I ordered the turkey which is very good but I tried a piece of the pastrami that another in our party ordered and I knew immediately my miscalculation lol.
