This place is INSANELY priced. They lie about having homemade ice cream when it's hand scooped from the container and freezer burned!!! They will charge you 8 to 9 dollars for a scoop of it. I don't consider myself a picky person and can pretty much make anything work, but I've never had more awful ice cream. On top of that, their customer service is absolutely awful. The guy taking my order was incredibly rude and impatient. I asked him one or two questions and then after him making me feel guilty or stupid about asking I stopped. I wish I would've asked more because then maybe I would've realized that their ice cream is absolute garbage before wasting $20 on a sundae & a double scoop. No I am not joking. This is no tip also!!!!! They purposely overcharge people and forced them to use cash which is also crazy because they aren't required to have any overhead fees for the credit cards because they don't allow them. When I questioned the front desk, what happened to the food? They didn't know and eventually they found the ticket on the floor. We have driven by here too many times to count and finally stopped. The menu board is a bit funky and not at all easy to read, but I knew I wanted ice cream with candy, whatever they called it. I think it was called a Spooner. I got a Butterfinger one and they even put a little extra Butterfinger on top. Their ice cream is very good so I think that means the fat content is high. The only thing I didn't like was the styrofoam cup. For me it's a sensory thing and I can't stand the scraping on styrofoam. There are a few additional picnic tables in the front, outside of the screened-in area. The signage is a bit overwhelming. Service - Very Good. The person who took our order was friendly and helpful. Our order was prepared and presented in a very reasonable timeframe. Ice Cream - Very Good. I used to own and run an ice cream restaurant, so I am fairly knowledgeable in this area. The ice cream is a high quality product and tastes great. However, I ordered a chocolate & peanut butter milkshake and it was beyond thick. In fact, for all intents and purposes, it was basically soft serve in a milkshake cup. It was impossible to use a straw. I had to use a spoon. I did not realize this, as we took our order to our car and drove off. Otherwise, I would have returned it and requested one that had milk blended in sufficient to drink it with a straw. The ice cream is outstanding and they'll make it however you want it. The food is American fair - fried or flat-grilled. The burger is the real deal, picnic-style burger with fresh veggies piled high. Crinkle cut French fries aren't my favorite - so I go with onion rings and/or fried mushroom. Can't recommend Shake Pit enough. Went here on a whim after driving past it. We knew it would be good based on looks. It's a small burger joint with great food. I really liked the grilled cheese and fries. The onion rings were cooked perfectly and not too greasy. Boyfriend loved the burger. The shakes are delicious. We got chocolate and hot fudge and the bottom of the shake was filled with hot fudge! It's a super casual place with outdoor seating. Each table has an umbrella so you can find some shade. Unfortunately I came here late on a Saturday night which automatically eliminated me from being able to try the milkshake (my stomach wouldn't have been able to take it and I had a long drive back to where I was staying). But I did Manage to get a double bacon cheeseburger w/ some fries. The burger tasted ok, in which I would consider standard.
