I hired AWS Solar to install solar panels on my home In May 2026. They completed the job a few…read moreweeks later. They did a very good jod. I am pleased. However, upon completeing the job, the project manager Tim Broughton called me, helped me log on to the Enphase app so that I could monitor the panels. After I confirmed that I was logged in, I was told that I was up and running And they were done. I was happy thinking I was now running on the sun. Wrong. So very wrong. I received my electric bill and astonished to see the electric portion was over $800.00. I called the power company and was told that the $130.00 application fee had not been paid. I notified Mr. Broughton and he immediatley saw that the bill for the application fee was paid and apologized for the error. Now the fun begins. I called the power company and asked when they would be out to install the proper meter for solar panels. I was informed that no application for a meter to be installed was on file and that I had to submit an application for interconnection. Hmm? No one mentioned anything to me about completing and application or that I had to contact the power company. I completed the PTO (Permission to Operate) form and based on the questions being asked and the information I needed to provide leads me to believe the Solar company was responsible for completing this form and sending the required fee. Ok. Lets not look to for someone to blame, lets just get the proper meter installed. I completed the PTO and submitted it. The power company came out a couple of weeks later and installed the a new meter. Onlyit was not a meter for solar panels. They installed the same new meter but it was the same meter as the meter I already had. I asked them why they didn't put on a solar meter and I was told that I needed to submit a PTO for a SOLAR METER, which is different. And by the way, they have a special person that installs solar meters and a special person to install regular meters. This seemed rather stupid to me. I ask the power comapany rep for the contact info for the solar department and he told he didn't know. I won't name the power company. LADwp. The one good thing the DWP rep did upon arriving to his office was to send an email to contact the proper department at the power company. I assumed he would have just gone about his business and let me flounder. I started on the second application which asked for job site photos. This was to me another indication that the solar installer was suppose to complete this form because Joe Citizen would not know what photos they were required. I did observe that periodically, the workers would take photos, but none were ever sent to me. Now I'm in the middle of August 2026 with fingers, legs, arms, eyes and anything else, maybe the dogs and cats, crossed hoping that this time I will get a meter. The bottom line is I would still recommend AWS SOLAR to anyone, but I'd have to caution them to make sure they get you connected and ALL fees are paid. Because I was dealing with the City of LA and being constantly sent to voice mail and waiting for call backs, this experience was horrendous.

The 4th year production shows improvement over the 3rd year as I kept the panels clean. However,…read moreit's still about 4.8% below the minimum guaranteed production (accounting 0.25% maximum annual panel degradation). It's 4 year in a row now the system failed to produce the minimum guaranteed production. AWS Solar chose to compensate for the shortfall again; we'll see what the 5th year production looks like. I suggested replacing some of the panels with the higher power ones to solve the issue, but I guess they want to see more data.

Here is my journey from start to finish--and why I'm extremely happy with the result:…read more Initial Consultation: Ish recommended a design that allowed me to install more solar panels than what other vendors proposed. His approach required a small modification that no other vendor had ever mentioned, and it made a meaningful difference in system capacity. Design Phase: Ish and his team were incredibly flexible in accommodating my specific preferences for how the panels should be grouped and connected to each Tesla Powerwall 3. We held several conference calls with their technician and architect to review and validate the design, and they were consistently willing to collaborate and adjust based on my input. Installation Experience: The installation itself was much quicker than I expected. The longest part of the process was simply waiting for the Tesla Powerwall 3 units which was a Tesla supply delay, not theirs. Rebate Assistance: They also helped me secure a rebate that I wasn't even aware of, which was a great added bonus. Overall: Ish and his crew went above and beyond. I've done extensive research on how to fully maximize the Tesla Powerwall 3, and through my conversations with them, I was able to clearly confirm their technical expertise and confidence in delivering a high-quality installation. I wholeheartedly recommend them.

I called around ... and found SESPE and after giving me the quote, they were ready to go within a few days! I really appreciate the direct accountability and quick resolution. I'm leaving my original review below for transparency, but their prompt response today restored my confidence in their management. I originally had a positive experience with California Solar Electric during my 10.12 kW solar and Powerwall 3 installation last year. Unfortunately, their post-install customer support and business ethics are nonexistent. I referred a friend who completed their installation months ago. I was explicitly promised a $500 referral bonus for this. After months of waiting, I tried following up multiple times privately to give them a chance to make it right, but I am now being completely ignored. It's a shame because I have several neighbors here in Fountain Valley who are currently shopping around for solar and battery storage. I was planning to refer them here, but I cannot recommend a company that fails to honor its own written agreements and ducks communication. Buyer beware: the installation team does good work, but do not trust a word management says about referral incentives or post-sale promises. Still waiting for my $500.

Disappointing Service and Zero Follow-Through…read more On March 12, 2024, we contacted California Solar Electric (CSE) because our solar system failed. A technician named Roy diagnosed the issue as a failed inverter. We paid $4,730.87 for a replacement, which was installed on April 24. Just two months later, the system failed again. On July 1, CSE said the system had simply been unplugged, a questionable diagnosis since there was no reason for someone to do that and our roof can only be accessed by ladder. The system failed again on November 13. Roy came out on January 24, 2025, got it running again, but didn't explain what he did. When the system failed yet again on February 17, I called CSE and spoke with Chris, the only helpful person at CSE, who said a technician would follow up. Since then, I've called five more times, speaking with either Chris or another tech, Josh. Each time I'm told someone will get back to me. No one ever does. After paying nearly $5,000, I would expect reliable service and timely communication. Instead, I've experienced recurring system failures, and no accountability or follow-through from CSE. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for professional and dependable solar servicing.

The sales process (predictably) went smoothly…read more However, the sales rep completely dropped off all communications immediately following contract signing. We had several questions that remained unanswered and no clear rep assigned to our project. We were also told AFTER contract signing and paying a deposit that we would have to spend an additional 40k on getting our roof replaced as their solar tiles would not be able to be installed on our roof. This was never mentioned during the sales process or in the proposal. I tried to follow up several times and ask questions about why no one communicated this to us and never received a response from a single person, except some random lady whom we had never spoken to before who informed us that we wouldn't get our refund back due to their policy. Horrible customer service, not at all upfront about their process, and poor communication to say the least. Would give zero stars if I could.

Throughout the entire process, Neri's communication was outstanding--he kept me fully informed every step of the way, including when unexpected issues arose. The damage turned out to be worse than initially thought, requiring replacement of significantly more rotten plywood and fascia boards. Once again, he sent videos detailing the problems and the additional costs involved, so there were no surprises. I especially appreciated that Neri was right up there on the roof working alongside his crew. They put in long, hard days and got the job done efficiently and with great care. One fantastic suggestion from Neri was to replace my ancient, unsightly turbine vents with modern O'Hagin low-profile, ember-resistant vents.
