I really wanted to like Coconut Kenny's, but unfortunately, it just didn't hit the mark for me. I tried the meatball sandwich and they tasted like they had been frozen--not much flavor and the texture was off. Definitely not what I was expecting. I also ordered the cheese balls which came absolutely smothered in cheese. I usually love cheesy bread, but this was too much--even for me. It overpowered everything else and made the whole dish feel heavy and unbalanced. The place itself had a fun, casual vibe, and the staff were friendly, which I appreciated. Searching for something for lunch that would be easy on the tummy and put in an order for pick up at lunchtime. Website was easy to use and figure out how to customize and gives you an estimated time for the order to be ready. You can use the stall and stay in your car for pickup or go in. Inside is always clean and welcoming I love the island vibe. They have daily specials which is a great way to try different things and save a buck, so far its all good. If you love delicious pizza with lots of stuff on it come here ! I find the way to order a tad weird as the front door is always so busy . The salad is an old fashioned salad your mom would make with cold cuts and cheese on it. Nachos are delicious with lots of pork ! I'm guessing the ambience is a beach bar type theme so I can't judge that . Over all a very consistent delicious pizza so I recommend this place . read more

I'd rate my experience with Coconut Kenny's as very average. I hadn't been there since they were new almost two decades ago at the Bellingham location, but I remembered it as being pretty good, so when we were visiting again from out of town, with limited options due to COVID, we chose them. I called to place our order, and the girl was nice enough when she quoted me 15 mins. I let her know that we were already parked there in front and what kind of car we were in. In fact, we were the only car there the entire time. She said she'd bring it right out as soon as it was done. After 30 minutes, I started to wonder if I called the wrong location. I didn't want to be a pest, but since no one else was there, after 10 more minutes, I finally called. The same girl answered and confirmed that I was at the right location. I'm sure I sounded surprised when she said it had BEEN ready. She said she'd bring it out "in a minute", and I was pretty disappointed when I watched her grab the same order from under the front counter than I had watched her place there over 20 minutes prior. I had just assumed that it was someone else's order since she knew we were sitting there waiting, but no, it was indeed ours. So, food was as you could expect - lukewarm. My husband had the pulled pork, which was substantially better than mine in size and taste. I had half a cheesesteak which was described as having horseradish on it. The horseradish is what sold me. However, there was no detectable horseradish on it at all, and what was described as this sliced steak appeared fo actually just be roast beef. Please be aware that a "half" size is not much if you are truly hungry. My husband sandwich was a full size and huge, but the half was literally 1/3 of his, and was mostly bread with very little filling. Perhaps it was an off day, or the side effect of going to a business where teenagers are running the show, but I don't think I'll be heading back. I'd recommend trying the pizzas if you go, or even just waiting until you can actually dine in so they have a better chance of remembering that you are there. Good luck. read more

WOW!!! The Portugee Pizza was amaze-balls! Hanging at Downtime taps and had Coconut Kenny's deliver to our table there. The crust is thick but ever so light with the right amount of chew. Went here today ordered a small pizza, a ceaser salad and 2 beers. The pizza and beer were ok. The ceaser salad was....meh. no garlic. The romaine was yellow.the dressing needed an acid component and the croutons were cheap store bought. They could easily make their own with pizza dough. Way over priced for pizza. Minimal table service and they expect you to bus your own table. Probably won't be back. Our bill with tip was over 40 dollars. Again, way over priced. read more

Hubs took a risk and got a couple small pizzas from Kenny's. Sausage/mushroom and a pepperoni. Kinda legit! Not thin crust like a prefer but thin for a pan pizza. Good amount of cheese and toppings. We ordered a soda and nachos at 2:25 pm on a Friday. Hardly anyone else was there. 10 minutes later I passed the kitchen on my way to wash my hands. I saw a platter of nachos sitting out on the kitchen counter. Another 15 minutes went by. We went to check on our order at that point. The guy at the till goes into the kitchen, grabs that platter and brings it out. Says he put on cilantro. I asked if they were still hot and he said yeah. We took it to the table but it was cold. The pork was cold, the cheese was hardened. Couldn't eat it at all. Clearly it had been sitting there the whole time. We didn't have time to wait for another order so they refunded the money for the nachos and didn't even comp the soda. No bueno. read more

I remember when Coconut Kenny's first opened in Bellingham many, many years ago. Their pizzas were phenomenal - like nothing else out there and I still think the same of them today. Returning to Bellingham, I was surprised and happy to discover that CK's was not only still around and doing well, but thriving with multiple locations. I wasn't sure if going to a different location may mean lesser quality, or maybe that the quality had gone downhill over time, as often happens but everything is still fantastic here. My Mom and I got the Big Kahuna, (the one with everything on it, just like we did when I was in high school) and of course, it was great. Fresh toppings, crispy crust with that ring of sticky, crunchy sauce around the edges that I remember... perfection. The servers were friendly, as well as helpful, and our pizza didn't take too awfully long. Everything at this location was clean and tidy. Next time I'm in Bellingham, Coconut Kenny's will be on the top of my list of places to return! read more

Last Monday was Veteran's Day and since my wife and I are both Vietnam Era Veterans we decided to take advantage of some of the offerings being made to Veterans by restaurants in Whatcom County. We heard that Coconut Kenny's in Ferndale was offering some sandwiches from a select menu to Veterans. We had never been to Kenny's, but our daughter had and she enjoyed it. We decided to give it a go. We were greeted at the counter by Pedro who became our server and was excellent as a server, a ent of the restaurant, and very knowlegeable of the menu. He recommended for me the King Mahalo sandwich which was a great choice. My only regret was that it was too big to eat at one meal, so I get two meals instead! We really enjoyed our visit and we'll definitely be back! read more

First time here and I'm very impressed. I like the kitschy Hawaiian decor and the casual atmosphere, very cool. The menu and service are very casual. There is no table service per se, except for bringing the pizza to your table (think Taco Time and you are on the right track). So we ordered our pizza and ciders at the counter and were given the ciders and a number. We sat down and then realizing that we needed napkins, we went back and got napkins, water and parmesan cheese from the station. The pizza took about 20 minutes to cook and when it was delivered it was super hot and smelled delicious. We got a 12" Big Kahuna, their version of 'the everything pizza'. It was marvelous, tons of cheese and toppings (and at $21 it better be). What I really liked was it had no pizza sauce and the crust was super crunchy from bottom to top.
