The chicken had a nice little crunch to it and it tasted amazing, especially once you drizzle the sauce on it. Surf and Turf Plate was also delicious - I ordered it with half bulgogi beef and half coconut shrimp. The bulgogi beef was full of flavor and I loved the crispness of the shrimp. All their combo plates come with rice, macaroni salad and an egg roll. The portion sizes were great and well worth the price.

The lady was courteous, patient, and helpful. Got my order at 12:33. It took 25 minutes, which isn't bad for a decently substantial order made to order. I used to make the drive to order from their original location. Unfortunately, this spot is not like their original location. I'm disappointed. We ordered 3 combo plates, spam musubi, and fries. The fries were soft like they were undercooked. Flavor was lacking. Spam musubis were good and about the only thing I would order again from here. The combo plates were pretty gross. It was SWIMMING in grease. By the time we got home, the rice had soaked up a lot of the grease so the rice was all greasy. Still, there was a pool of oil at the bottom of the plate. I tried to savage as much as possible, but the rice just felt like I was eating grease. See pics for reference.

The plate also comes with a side salad and your choice of dressing so we went with ginger and I actually loved the salad more than the rice. The buttered rice had a lot of spices and herbs but the flavors were still surprisingly subtle. We also added a single Coco Shrimp Taco ($3.50) which is basically a coconut shrimp taco and it was actually more flavorful and tastier than the plate. I wished we had gotten another one.

Not only did the breading on Chicken Katsu provide flavor, it protected the chicken meat from being soggy. While a fork was served with my food, I had to grab a knife from the dispenser. The Chicken Katsu could have been eaten with a fork alone; the cabbage would have been difficult.

Coco Shrimp is a new spot near my home, and since my neighborhood doesn't often get new eateries, this addition was disappointing. The vibe is fun, and the staff are welcoming, but the food falls short. The garlic butter shrimp was drenched in salty butter, making it almost inedible. The coco shrimp tasted like frozen store-bought versions. Portions were overloaded with carbs, with barely enough shrimp unless you spend $22. Eating out of paper boxes for dine-in felt cheap and unappealing. For a neighborhood that rarely sees new places, this was a letdown. It's overpriced, bland, and not worth a second visit. read more

I tried Coco Shrimp for the first time Saturday! We arrived around noon, and even as more people came in, our food came out quickly. We ordered two samplers, so I got to taste all the available shrimp flavors. My favorites were the sweet and spicy shrimp and the garlic butter shrimp. The place had a really cute Hawaiian vibe with its decorations. Overall, it was delicious, reasonably priced, and the staff were quick and friendly. read more
