They offer a two-meat plate with rice and your choice of a side. I tried the teriyaki chicken and Katsu chicken . Overall, the food wasn't too bad. The teriyaki chicken was pretty good, although I do wish they would've given me more sauce. I wasn't a big fan of the macaroni salad, but the customer service was really good, which is always a plus. The restaurant also has plenty of seating, so it's a nice option if you're looking for a casual Hawaiian meal. Overall, I'd say it was worth trying, but I'm still on the hunt for my favorite Hawaiian spot!

Very clean place with fun Hawaiian programming on the tv. Restrooms in good shape. Food has lost it. What tasted like spoiled rice came under my loco moco. The meats in BBQ plate were all flash fried, way overcooked and bland. They don't carry several things like lau lau, Portuguese sausage which are Hawaiian staples (I was born there). They still do a great Mac salad; also the spam musubi was good....but TBH I would just go further down the highway to Shaka's for better local style island food.

Been a while since I went here, but really enjoyed the food the last time I visited…read more The Chicken Katsu Plate tasted so good! The chicken had a nice little crunch to it and it tasted amazing, especially once you drizzle the sauce on it. Surf and Turf Plate was also delicious - I ordered it with half bulgogi beef and half coconut shrimp. The bulgogi beef was full of flavor and I loved the crispness of the shrimp. All their combo plates come with rice, macaroni salad and an egg roll. The portion sizes were great and well worth the price.

Everything else we've tried has been pretty high up there too. Service is super quick, and the guy at the front is always attentive and friendly. We come here A LOT, and it never disappoints!

Even though the employee had yet to interact with me, I am prompted for a gratuity. The photos showcasing the menu items were not helpful. For instance, the photo for the Kalua Combo showed a chicken dish and Kalua Pork. When I was prompted for a chicken item, there were no photos. I could not select the chicken shown in the entree. Unlike the online menu which included Teriyaki Chicken, I only recall BBQ Chicken and Chicken Katsu as options. Fortunately, I opted for the Chicken Katsu. For my beverage, I chose a Hawaiian Sun canned drink. My order was served within 9 minutes. The service already did not match the gratuity. When I asked about my drink, I was pointed to the display case by the kiosk. Sadly, beverage delivery was neither one of her responsibilities nor included service. On their menu, "veggies" was included in various entrees. Veggie would have been a better description as the only vegetable was cabbage leaves. The cabbage was placed underneath the chicken and pork. The water from the cabbage caused the bottom portions of the meat to be soggy. Due to being breaded, the chicken was not as affected as the pork. Of the items served, I enjoyed the macaroni salad the most. It had plenty of flavor. The Kalua Pork which were not soaked in cabbage juice had an okay taste. Not only did the breading on Chicken Katsu provide flavor, it protected the chicken meat from being soggy. While a fork was served with my food, I had to grab a knife from the dispenser. The Chicken Katsu could have been eaten with a fork alone; the cabbage would have been difficult.

Pualani's version of coconut shrimp is not your traditional fried coconut shrimp. Their version is giant pieces of fried shrimp, coated in a sweet sauce with a delicate sprinkle of coconut flakes on top. Its was different in a delicious way! Served with two sides; I chose the macaroni salad and white rice. No regrets on those choices. We also ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice with 3 proteins (shrimp, chicken & beef). The pineapple fried rice had juicy chunks of pineapple, generously blended in flavorful fried rice, but the protein was a huge disappointment. The shrimp was overcooked, the chicken was small flat bland bits, and the beef was .. okay. If this was our first impression of Pualani, we wouldn't have gone back. Goes to show you, always try several menu items.

Decent little Hawaiian food spot for a quick fix!…read more Stopped here during a road trip because I've heard so much about this chain. Ordered a 2 meat plate which included the Molokai Chicken, and spicy Kilauea Chicken. For my two sides I chose steamed white rice and Mac salad. I enjoyed both types of chickens and the white rice. The Mac salad was less than desirable imo, but maybe it's because I'm comparing it to the Mac salad I ate growing up in Hawaii. I really liked the pineapple lemonade I ordered! Delicious and refreshing! The thing I really noticed about this place was the lack of personal connection. You order from a kiosk and the staff brings your food to you. The girl was super friendly when she delivered it but I like asking questions about potential dishes and wasn't able to do that today. Oh well. Overall a decent visit.

The waitress was very kind and I thought the owner was very sweet to bring out some samples for us to try. The evening started off okay with decent appetizers like the Karage and Gyoza. But when it came to the entrees, it was not my favorite. I will admit we only ordered cooked sushi, and maybe that's not their forté. But the sushi had a noticeable fishy taste, the green bomb was just a mash of mostly rice topped with avocado, and the Cali Poli had the same flavor profile as the bomb despite it being a different fish and presentation style. I love all food, but I had to toss my leftovers away because both my wife and I felt like the food wasn't settling well. I spent $60 for all the food. I'm giving this a 3 star because the staff was super kind, and maybe my wife and I just ordered the wrong things on the menu, but I will not be returning personally.

The cashier who helped us was really nice and gave off small family business vibes. Ekolu Plate ($18.29) + Teri Steak ($1.99): We got the Da Big Boy plate to share which comes with 3 meat choices, rice, and a side. We went with pulehu chicken, katsu chicken, and teri steak with white rice and mac salad. The katsu chicken was the best, followed by the teri steak, then the pulehu chicken. If I come back I would just get the katsu chicken plate. The teri steak was okay and the pulehu chicken was lacking flavor, though it is probably the move if you are watching what you eat. The mac salad was addicting and did not feel or taste heavy at all. They were also nice enough to let us try all their sauces including teri, katsu sauce, spicy mayo, and yeobo, but none of them really stood out. P.O.G. Juice ($2.99): They charge this as a 22 oz regular fountain drink which is a great deal. P.O.G. stands for passion fruit, orange, and guava and I am not sure if they make it in house but it was really good and one of the best juices I have had in a while.

The flavors are solid, portions are good, and that's the main reason I keep coming back. That said, today's experience was a little disappointing from a service standpoint. While waiting for our food, I noticed someone who appeared to be off-shift (or at least not in uniform) preparing a plate for herself in the kitchen area. She wasn't wearing a hairnet, and from a customer's perspective it looked unusual and raised some questions about food handling standards. The situation became even more awkward when my partner and I sat at an available table, and the same person later told us she had been sitting there because she left her drink on it. What made it confusing was that she had been in the kitchen making herself food, so it didn't really seem like the table was actively occupied. We moved, but the interaction felt a bit unprofessional. The food itself was still good, which is why I'm not leaving a lower rating. I just hope management pays a little more attention to the customer experience and how staff interactions are perceived from the dining room. I'll likely return because I enjoy the food, but today's visit left me a bit disappointed with the service side of things.
