Let me start by saying I have cyber stalked this baker on Facebook for well over a year. Her cakes are nothing short of art. I have seen photos of her cakes in all the top magazines. It's the type of product that photographs well and never fails to appeal to the eye. With that being said I find the cake tasty but the texture to be some what dry. We visited this cake artist because we were doing tastings for our wedding. We were still on the fence about the cake after the tasting and ordered a 8 inch cake to take home. To do further tasting, and I'm glad we did it help us understand exactly what we should expect if we picked this cake artist to bake our wedding cake. We went with another baker for our wedding. If you are planning a wedding put this place on your list of possible bakers... she truly is an artist. read more

So this lady is a true artist. Her designs are exquisite, probably the most beautiful I've seen in Austin. BUT her cake texture is heavy. I would describe it as pound cake type batter. While it tastes good overall, I find it heavy and the buttercream was overly rich. It's totally a matter of preference, but I lean towards more fluffy texture, lighter and less rich in fat and sugar. I'm glad we tried her cake by asking her to make us a small birthday cake before committing to a large wedding cake purchase. We need to try more cake makers. read more

Run, don't walk, to Coco Paloma Desserts for your wedding cake! Our cake was seriously stunning, compliments abound on the taste, and Paloma was great to work with. Living in Houston, I wasn't sure if Paloma would or could deliver to us. She made special arrangements to do so and we so appreciated it. She was my #1 choice for our wedding cake after seeing her work in Brides magazine. Her cake was probably my favorite element from our wedding! I was so excited about it and she knocked it out of the park. We had chocolate cake/espresso buttercream, and lavender cake/almond buttercream. Both were outstanding. Her sugar flowers are a work of art. She also made two chocolate chip cookie cake towers for us, which were a huge hit and so fun. People were waiting outside the kitchen to get a piece. Woohoo! As good as it gets! My wife (then fiance) and I attended our friends wedding in August. He had an incredible cake made by Paloma of a cheese wheel with a mouse sitting on top of it. The detail was fantastic and the cake was very cute. We decided then and there that she would make our wedding cake. Fast forward to March..... Our wedding cake was amazing! Paloma made our cake exactly how we wanted it. We had godzilla and mecha godzilla fighting on either side of the cake! The flavor was fantastic, the design was extraordinary and she was a joy to work with! If you have a wedding coming up PLEASE use her! Paloma's the best hands down. P.S. Truly exquisite cakes and desserts! The absolute best in Austin and beyond, there is no substitute for Paloma. Her designs are detailed and perfect and her flavors are the best I have ever tasted! I don't understand the other reviews talking about the cake texture. The cake texture is PERFECT! Paloma uses nothing other than natural sugar and butter in her cakes. I've tried to write this review several times and I just don't know what to say! Paloma is just the most amazing person/cake artist ever. Not only are her cakes delicious (white cake was amazing and the chocolate with a liquor filling... ahhhh), but they are gorgeous and so much more affordable compared to all the other boutique bakeries in town. She uses the freshest, most natural ingredients and it totally comes out in the flavor. I asked Paloma to make an additional cake for my wedding (groom's cake) last minute (less than 2 weeks before, I believe) and she did an awesome job. We did a chocolate fondant cake in the shape of our dog, Maggie. It looks just like her... it was definitely the talk of the wedding reception. It all came together so beautifully thanks to Paloma! Book Paloma before her name blows up all around Austin. It certainly won't be long now! read more

I found Coco Paloma Desserts while looking for an Austin area cake baker for our wedding (we live in Houston). My now husband and I are foodies who love good dessert, so we knew were going to be most discerning about the cake and filling flavors/taste rather than overall appearance (we knew we wanted a naked cake). It just so happens that when we found Paloma, we managed to find a cake baker who not only knows how to make amazing cake, but is a true artist to boot. Paloma was the first cake baker that we did a tasting with. We had paid a little extra to taste a whole bunch of cake because we just couldn't decide on what we wanted and everything sounded so good! We sampled 8 different cake flavors along with 7 fillings and knew from the first bite of Valrhona Chocolate cake that we had found our cake baker! In addition to the wedding cake, we also knew we wanted to do some kind of gluten free cake on the side (my maid of honor is allergic, while my 3 other bridesmaids are sensitive), as well as macarons. Worth noting - I was really impressed with Paloma's macaron knowledge (I'm half French and a bit macaron obsessed), and appreciated how her eyes lit up as we discussed different macaron bakers and recipes. After the tasting (and actually, taking the cake and filling samples home because we still weren't sure sure what to choose as everything was so good), we settled on 3 flavors for our main 4-tier cake - Valrhona Chocolate cake with Nutella buttercream, Red Velvet with Cream Cheese, and Earl Grey cake with Mascarpone Buttercream. Additionally, we ordered 2 macaron flavors, Raspberry and Lemon Lavender. For the gluten free cake - we opted for the gluten free Valrhona Chocolate Cake with Espresso buttercream...and here is where the artistry comes in. We really had no thoughts on this additional cake, but as I was perusing Paloma's Instagram, my jaw dropped when I laid eyes upon an A&M ring cake. My husband is a very devoted Aggie graduate, and happens to really like his ring. For me - it was a gorgeous gold, which was one of our wedding colors, so it ticked that box for me (and it was stunning). I managed to keep the groom's cake as a secret and my husband was so excited when he saw it on our wedding day (as were his Aggie relatives, friends, and well - even our non-Aggie friends and relatives)! The added bonus was that the gluten free cake was so delicious and so moist, no one even knew it was gluten free. It was INCREDIBLE! Last, but not least, I decided about a month before the wedding that I really wanted to have some watercolor inspired sugar cookies as favors for our guests, because the Aggie ring cake wasn't labor intensive enough or anything like that ;). Thankfully, Paloma was game and designed some really beautiful cookies for us. They also were the really soft delicious kind of sugar cookies, which my husband and I both really enjoy. In short, Paloma blew it out of the park with our wedding - 2 gorgeous cakes (one gluten free), beautiful and tasty macarons and watercolor cookies (both with gold touches). Paloma was truly delightful to work with, and we felt like we got so much deliciousness for what we paid. Thank you so much Paloma! We will definitely be coming back for more :). read more

These cakes not only look amazing but they taste even better! I ordered a cake in a cap design for my graduation and added the silhouette of a dancer (dance major) and she made it look better than I could have imagined! The cake itself was moist and not too sweet. My family who are not cake/sweets people ate the whole thing! The ingredients are extremely fresh and make you feel less guilty about enjoying a treat :) I will definitely use Paloma for future events (my Step dad has already requested her for his birthday cake!) The payment process was super easy and secure and she delivered the cake to the restaurant, which made life so much easier for me! I NEVER write reviews but this place deserves it! read more

My wedding is coming up in March, and nothing excites me more about it than Coco Paloma's cakes! I'll admit, I've never been a huge cake fan - pie and tarts were always more substantial, flavorful, and moist. But during my multi-month long quest to find who would make my wedding cake, I have turned into a bit of a cake junkie, all thanks to Coco Paloma. I checked out a lot of cake bakeries before choosing Paloma to do my cakes, but it was probably one of the easiest decisions I had to make, because basically, in pretty much all categories, Paloma reigns supreme over all the other places in Austin. Here's why: 1. Style - Paloma has an architectural background, which makes her cakes dramatic in presentation and beautiful both in extravagance and simplicity. Her cakes don't just look like cakes with really gorgeous decoration. Her cakes look like sculptures you'd see in a museum or mansion! 2. Service - Paloma is a one-woman force of expertise and servitude! She's downright delightful and embodies everything about Austin that I love. She's diverse, low-key, creative, and down-to-earth. She has ethics behind her baking that I am proud to support, and she participates in the community. There's no pretentiousness here, nothing but straight-up amazing cakes. 3. Flavor - Above and beyond the things I listed above, all that could be gone and I would still choose here, as long as she doesn't change a THING about how she bakes! Her cakes are made with the best of ingredients, and it shows. Going in for a tasting you are given a generous helping of any four flavors you choose - is there a flavor you want that you can't find on the menu? Ask! One of the flavors we'll be doing for our cake is Earl Grey - and Paloma rose to the occasion. It was so excellent that she'll be adding it to her regular menu! Yay! I have tried several flavors - almond, coconut lime, green tea, and vanilla with her butter creams, custard, and fondant - and everything is sublime. Oh, if only I could have her cake every day!!! We've decided to go with almond cake with almond custard with fresh strawberries for the bride's cake, as well with the Earl Grey cake with vanilla buttercream and apricot marmalade for the groom's cake. Aagh I don't want to wait until March!! Do yourself a favor and try her cakes - for any occasion, just find a reason and go! You won't regret it. read more

UNRELIABLE! I was scheduled to meet with Paloma Aug 22,2015 at 1pm. This was confirmed twice via email and once via phone. Cancelled on me that Thursday, Aug 20,2015. I contacted Paloma to make a cake for my mom's birthday celebration. It was a request for a cake in the shape of a cello. She was timely in her responses and very professional. Since I live in Houston, I spoke on the phone with her and emailed her about the cakes, which worked out well. The cello cake was truly amazing! She had painted the cake with such beauty, it looked like real wood. Her attention to the other details on the cello cake was superb as well. There are many components to a cello, and she constructed each detail masterfully. Everyone at the party did a double-take at the cake since they didn't think it was a cake! Her work on this cello cake was stunning and well worth the money. My mom loved it! The guests really enjoyed the cakes as well. Everyone asked where I got the cakes made, and I happily recommended Coco Paloma Desserts. I hope she gets some business from the party-goers! We had a smaller second cake that had a small cello detail on it, which was fantastic as well. She made a miniature 3D cello to top this smaller cake, and this cake was a perfect complement to the larger cello cake. The cake flavors were very tasty! The cello cake was a tiramisu inspired cake, and was very delicious. The one thing I would say is that I wish the cake was soaked with more of the espresso-kahlua mixture because it was really good and I would've loved more of that flavor. The smaller cake was a green tea cake with almond butter cream and a layer of apricot jam, which was fantastic. Both cakes tasted wonderful and looked amazing! Paloma is a true master and artist! read more

Paloma was a joy to work with from beginning to end. We had a great time tasting the different cakes and frostings we selected for our tasting and were even able to bring home extras for a second round! As we tasted the goodies, Paloma talked to us about what we wanted. Going into the tasting, we didn't have a clear idea, but she gently nudged us down the perfect path complete with drawings. We ended up deciding on three cakes to feed ~140 guests: a three-tiered cake almond cake with almond buttercream, a two-tiered chocolate cake with salted caramel buttercream, and a second two-tiered cake with lavendar cake with lemon buttercream. Each cake was to have different types of buttercream texturing with pink cala lily sugar flowers to match the wedding flowers. A few weeks prior to our wedding day, Paloma sent us an email expressing concern about the weather. Our wedding date was April 2, 2016 and the weather in March had been unseasonably warm. Paloma was concerned that the buttercream would melt and end up in a sloppy mess. We had to modify the design to include a thin layer of fondant with fondant ruffles providing texturing. We also added additional flowers in to add blue and yellow accents. We ended up paying a few hundred more for the cakes, but it was well-worth the piece of mind. My husband pointed out that this was a point in Paloma's favor because she gave us an advanced heads up rather than ignoring the problem until it became a last-minute crisis. When i first saw the cakes, I was absolutely stunned! They were perfectly gorgous in every way and they all three tasted AMAZING!! Our guests LOVED them, particularly the almond/almond cake. We have the top tier in our freezer which we are enjoying every Saturday until it's gone. No need to save it a year because Paloma will bake us a new one for our anniversary as part of the package!!! Paloma is an amazing, well-trained, smart artist that you will enjoy working with and will not regret hiring for either the biggest day of your life or any other cake-worthy milestone. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to one of her lovely cakes! read more

Working with Paloma is like working with an artist. I explained what I was looking for and she sketched the concept right in front of me, adding in extra details that I didn't even think of. I chose white cake with tiramisu filling, that was to die for! All my guests were raving about it. I had gone to other tastings that tasted like processed sugar. Paloma's tasted much more natural and all made from scratch. I surely thought the cost sound be much more, but to my surprise it was the same rate as Sweet Treats, and others. plus- on our one year anniversary she will make a top tier fresh so we didn't have to save any. read more

We're so happy that Paloma was able to make our wedding cake. October is such a busy time for weddings in Austin, we were able to book her for our date in January. Paloma made our wedding cake and groom's cake. Both were delicious and gorgeous. She will make you the cake of your dreams or if you're uncertain of what you want she will be able to help you come up with an idea or vision. The only slight fumble was that the flowers on our wedding cake were supposed to be burgundy but somehow they were purple. I did a double take when I saw it, but the only people that knew what the color should have been were my husband and I. read more

After reading the great reviews on Yelp, we decided to choose Coco Paloma for our wedding cake. I gave Paloma a picture of what I wanted and told her what flowers we were using and she created the perfect masterpiece, it was EXACTLY what we wanted. I can't wait for our 1 year anniversary to taste it again. read more

Delicious cake - and beautiful !!! Best I've ever had !!! So smooth and decadent. I would highly recommend. Pricey but it's worth it.

I scheduled a wedding cake consultation with this place because it's very close to where I live and I actually planned to book with them from the start. However, I completely changed my mind once I left my appointment because the owner was so rude and I really didn't like the attitude she had towards me. When I asked questions, she talked to me as if I was stupid and got offended because I asked her if the cake could be baked a little more moist. Her yellow cake that I tried tasted like corn bread which is what 3 other people thought as well when I brought it home for them to try. She seemed like a type of person who can't take criticism and I felt like I wasted my $25 cake tasting fee. read more

Paloma made my wedding cake in Oct 08. We had a very positive experience with her, in all aspects (taste, artistry, customer service, and delivery). First off, and most importantly, her cakes are delicious. She uses all natural ingredients and the difference truly is noticeable -- a rich, moist, flavorful cake (many bakers, including some popular local wedding vendors, use shortening and other additives, which leave behind that heavy, greasy taste -- her cakes do not). Paloma's buttercream is *amazing* but the fondant actually tastes good too (which, if you've tasted lots of wedding cakes, is often flavorless and chewy). Paloma can also work around dietary restrictions -- for example, if you need a kosher cake (we did not, but it's a great option). She has a wide variety of cake flavors and buttercream fillings, as well as specialty combinations, and you can mix & match with different tiers (we got two flavors, almond cake with dulce de leche filling, and white cake with lemon buttercream and fresh rasberries). Our cake was so delicious that we did not bother getting any additional desserts for the reception. Working with her through the design process was easy -- I showed her a few pictures of cake shapes and techniques that were appealing to me, she combined them in a new way and within my budget. You can be honest with her about your budget, and she will try to meet your tastes within your price range. She allowed me to have two tastings -- one initial one, and another when my parents were in town, which I thought was very considerate. She also did a great job working with (ie. handling) my mother who wanted a hand in the design, which helped ease my stress so I appreciated that. And delivery to my venue could not have been easy (an hour's drive, on the lake, bumpy dirt road for the last mile) but my cake was perfect, no issues whatsoever. The end result was elegant and beautiful -- in particular, I loved how she exactly recreated our monogram on the top tier of our cake, and her spectacular sugar flowers. Artistically, her work is top-notch. (And you don't have to get fondant for that look -- she has a buttercream technique that almost looks as smooth as fondant.) Oh, one last thing -- Paloma includes an "anniversary cake" for two a year after your wedding. So you don't have to save your top tier and eat yucky year-old frozen cake! It's such a nice bonus. We just had our anniversary cake last month, and it was generously sized and really yummy. So bottom line -- if you want a cake that is elegant, unique, artful and tastes good too, and a calm and hassle-free process with your vendor, then I really recommend working with Paloma. I would definitely use her again in the future for other parties or special occasions. read more

from start to finish, Paloma was so fun and easy to work with. She did my cake for my May wedding and the initial cake tasting sold me immediately. After doing tastings at Simon Lee, etc., Paloma made it so personal and special. From there we got multiple sketches and were able to choose our favorite. We couldn't pass up adding her artistic sugar flowers. The price for premium flavors and fillings was comparable to Simon Lee's baseline flavors. I thought it was absolutely delicious, especially the chocolate. We did yellow cake with nutella butter cream and chocolate with peanut butter ganache. The feedback from guests was that it was delicious, but some did say the yellow cake was a tad bit dry. The icing is my favorite part so i didn't even think twice about it and thought it was absolutely delicious!! read more

To me, the cake is one of the most important parts of a wedding party. No one remembers what food you served. Everyone remembers if the cake was good. So, when I got engaged, I knew I wanted a cake that looked beautiful but also tasted amazing. From the first phone call, Paloma was sweet and accommodating. She asked a lot of questions about our wedding and what we wanted, and took what we had in mind and made it even better. Our cake was beyond amazing, and we couldn't have been happier. read more

Paloma made the most exquisite cake for my daughter's bat mitzvah. The cake-white layered fondant with ferns, flowers and succulents matched our theme perfectly. I got married two weeks ago and have been thinking about that wedding cake every day. Paloma's cake was DELICIOUS and decorated exactly as we requested. It was so good that we ran out of forks and people were eating the cake with spoons/their hands. She offered us plenty of cake and frosting types to try when we came in for cake tasting, some of them pretty exotic, and she made the top tier gluten-free for me. We absolutely loved working with Paloma! She is incredibly talented and goes above and beyond to make sure her customers are pleased. She made both our wedding cake and groom's cake and we truly could not have been happier with both. The hardest part was picking our flavors because we loved so many of them! We considered many bakeries when planning our wedding but were looking for something very specific - an awesome Star Wars groom's cake. We truly think she is the BEST! We looked at about a million options online and the Millennium Falcon cake she made us was so much better than anything we had seen or even imagined. The amount of time and detail she put into it was incredible. It is simple to recognize the passion and attention to detail that Paloma has for her work. Our wedding cakes were not only stunning and immaculate in design, they were (are- still enjoying leftovers from this weekend) delicious!!! We had a lavender cake with vanilla frosting and asked our florist to wrap it in lavender- such a beautiful and romantic look with delicate flavors! Our groom's cake was chocolate with nutella filling (which our guests literally "oohed" over) and in the shape of an amp...awesome!! I can't heap enough kudos and gratitude on Paloma for the fantastic job she recently did with our daughter's wedding cake! She could not have been more accommodating and easy to work with. After a very relaxed and yummy tasting at the Coco Paloma bakery, our bride chose the vanilla bean buttercream for the wedding cake. As the couple both live in London and the groom couldn't be with us that day, Paloma kindly arranged a special groom's cake "take home" tasting for our him when he arrived the week before the wedding. He chose the gingerbread beer cake with espresso buttercream. His cake was decorated with a Union Jack that had a small 3D armadillo running across it, a huge hit with all his English relatives from across The Pond! I am happy to report that Paloma's cakes are every bit as delicious as they are gorgeous! She listened carefully to our daughter's ideas for the cake taking in all the Pinterest photos she sent as well. Then, with her extreme artistry, made the dream come true. One of the challenges was to figure out a way to include a monogram on the side of the cake. It was challenging because the groom has a hyphenated last name. Paloma designed a really lovely blending of the two letters that we all loved so much we ultimately carried it over onto cocktail napkins and other wedding accessories. Paloma extended a final kindness after the wedding when I called to tell her that somehow slices of cake hadn't made it into the get-away car at the end of the evening. The only tastes the couple had gotten of their fabulous cakes were the little bites they fed each other at the cutting. She graciously packaged up some freshly frosted slices in each cake flavor for the happy couple to enjoy when they returned from their honeymoon. They were so touched and appreciative! So look no further. THIS is your wedding cake source! Thank you Paloma! read more

Coco Paloma Cakes did a fantastic job for our wedding. We got both our wedding cake and grooms cake from them and both showed up on time and still looked and tasted great at serving time.
