It doesn't look like much from the outside, and honestly - it feels like a spot that is old - its a very cool spot off of the highway, not too far from SUNY Cobbleskill. Its typical dinner food and the menu is pretty damn extensive. They cooked everything exactly as requested but the hot cocoa is like crack. I don't know what they do to it, I don't know the source of magic they use to make, the sorceress in the back warned me and mini me that it was bomb hot cocoa and it was... good diner food, good vibe, and get the hot cocoa... Went there after Howe caverns tour. Its only 15 minutes away and you have to look for it. It is not the bowling alley but past it. Small but very clean and friendly. Stopped here for something to eat after visiting Howe Caverns and before heading on our 2.5 hours drive back home. Ordered two appetizers (mozzarella sticks...YUM) and the five of us each ordered an entree. Everything was delicious. Although we were stuffed (very nice portions at very reasonable prices), we decided to be brave and go for dessert. The ice cream is amazing. However, do NOT be fooled by the names for the different sizes. I ordered a 'Baby' and, good Lord, it was enough ice cream for at least 2 cones! I should have gone with a 'Newborn'. This as our first time eating here. It came highly recommended. First upon entering we got some serious looks as if we don't belong. Took a little bit to have someone take our order. Wasn't that busy either. When the server took our food order, we never saw her again. Food took forever to get to us. Food was good when we did finally get it. After that no sign of the server. They were all chatting away with customers they knew. Then the waitress complained because she still had our table to deal with. We were holding her up from leaving. That's not our problem. Three of us ate lunch here today and it was awesome. I had a delicious grilled ham and cheese, my husband had a turkey dinner panini and my son loved his CBR burger. We ended with two mouthwatering pieces of pie, banana and chocolate cream. We love eating at local, non-chain eateries when away and this place was great. Extremely happy with my experience here. It came onto our radar bc of what a family member told us of their ice cream servings. For an app we order the tater tots with gravy and cheese- they were delicious! Although they're not called disco fries up here- that's what they are! Or maybe- disco tots in this case . I ordered the Phil's cheesesteak & it was excellent. Husband ordered the ruben and he was very please. I noticed it wasn't the typical PILE of pastrami that you usually get but the flavors were better balanced- he agreed! This is a small town, small diner! Order a burger and fries, or eggs over easy, because that is what this place does well. The chicken and biscuits are good, the seafood platter is just fried frozen fish, and the soups are homemade. The food is simple and good, but don't ask to much of it, you know what I mean? Don't expect to get a four star dining experience. The service is generally good, during the weekend mornings it gets really busy, but that is when all the good waitresses are on. I have been going here for four years, and they have always had the same waitresses. I walked in at 8:30 one evening when the place should have closed at 8, and the owner himself made me and hubby blueberry pancakes. I go back a few times a month, mainly for the cheeseburgers platters. They always cook them perfect, the fries are crispy, the coleslaw is great, and its under $7. So I consider this a staple in Cobleskill dining, which are few and far between. read more

I am a big fan of home style cooking when I'm hours from home. I ate here with my family while we stayed overnight at Howe Caverns. We had dinner here on Saturday and breakfast here on Sunday. For dinner I had a meatball sub followed by a soft serve ice cream sundae. I still dream of that ice cream sundae because that's the kind of sundae you can only get at an establishment that has an ice cream shop attached to it. For breakfast I had an american cheese omelette with tomato and home fries. Mmmm soooo good! The waiters and waitresses are attentive and service is good. My daughter and I went to this diner for lunch. We were disappointed that it took 30 minutes to get a standard lunch order of soup and salad. My daughter's coffee cup sat empty for 25 minutes on the edge of the table and no waitress cam by to refill it or to let us know why the order was taking so long. We eventually flagged a waitress down but got no real answer to why the delay. My daughter's grilled chicken salad had undercooked chicken and the boiled eggs were spoiled. To top it off the red wine dressing was simply red wine vinegar, no oil. Her salad was inedible. I've now had the...ahem...opportunity to visit this diner three times in two visits to Cobleskill. Previously I ordered a broiled fish special with a baked potato. On this most recent visit, I had a hot roast pork sandwich with gravy and another baked potato. I should have remembered that the baked potatoes are small and tough and gotten something else this time. The fish and pork were dry. Cole slaw was passable, as were the fries. Kids' meals are priced too high, almost $5 for grilled cheese? Our waitress seemed frazzled and forgot to bring the broccoli I was supposed to get with my meal. Later the other waitress (manager?) told us that they were understaffed. It was a holiday so that's fine, but the food isn't good enough for me to want to return. I'm sure I will be back though, since there just aren't that many places to eat in Cskill. read more
