We had an awesome experience! We were blown away by the Pizza. Super thin, flavorful, great crust and definitely not your "average" pizza. We've been here several times already and have tried many of the menu items (Dean Martin pizza and Beet Salad are my favorites!). All delicious options and each pizza has its own distinctive flavors. The wings are also wonderful. Crispy and cooked just right. The overall vibe is great and the restaurant is open and airy with an eclectic style, brick walls and a great bar! This is our new go-to spot! ...and, I have to mention that the Managers, Staff and Bartenders are super friendly and accommodating :-). Run to coals! Pizza with a unique but delicious crust. Crispy wings and an amazing burger. The big mac burger special was cooked perfectly and delicious. We had to have dessert, and sure enough, that was excellent as well. We will be back, and I'm already looking forward to it. read more

We eat a lot of pizza, different kinds, different styles, cheap, fancy, all of it. This thin grilled pizza may be the best pizza I've ever had. The crust is paper thin, the toppings are fresh, and the grill mark flavor on the crust from the cooking method adds another layer of umami. It's a little different than normal but not in a way to put off anyone. We had the margherita pizza which was epic. Sidenote- the wings were also top 10 in my book. Crispy and full of flavor, but not dry. Would definitely return here if we come back to Norwalk. read more

After hearing about Coals and reading the reviews, my girlfriend and I, both lovers of good pizza, decided to head here for dinner. First we spent several minutes standing at the hostess station waiting for someone to show up. Several employees looked in our direction, but none said anything or made any move to help us. When the hostess did show up I commented that I could see that there was a wait, and we were happy to take either a table or a spot at the bar, whichever was available first. At this point there are two possible answers. Okay, and the bar is a find your own seat deal. Not much else. She said (and I paraphrase) okay. We then stood in the general waiting area. She then got two people who were sitting at the bar to a table and WATCHED as two gentlemen who came in after us and were standing closer took the two bar chairs. Now I cut some slack because she knew them and the bartender also knew them. However, shortly afterwards two women waltzed in and rearranged the bar to move chairs to make themselves two spaces while she again watched on saying nothing. We left at that point and went elsewhere and had a great dinner. Sorry, but when I say that we are happy to sit at the bar and you say okay, and you then let two other groups who came in after us walk up to the bar and seat themselves you have lost a customer. When two customers are standing at the hostess station for five minutes, and not one person says someone will be over shortly, thats poor customer service. The food might be good, at least that is what people say, but the service I experienced left a lot to be desired. It is a lack of respect for the customer. read more

The pizza is great here! It's a different style of pizza not traditional but that's what I like about it. The wings are also decent as well. But if you're a beer person def get the key lime flavored beer, it's my fav and the best really tastes like a key lime pie. Wow! We stopped by for dinner last night. We had the grilled wings and the Marlon pizza. The wings are so flavorful and by far the best wings we've ever had. Was really looking forward to trying this place out but ended up highly disappointed. I live a couple minutes from Coals and ordered a Rustic and Dean Martin for takeout. Picked up when they said it would be ready, brought it home and both pizzas were completely cold. Called the restaurant and they said it was cold because of their thin crust and "it was a part of the experience". I have no interest in experiencing this again, they can keep their cold pizza and poor customer response. I miss Fat Cats that used to be located here. read more

We have been going to coals in both the old port Chester location and the bronxville location. We were so thrilled that the port Chester location relocated to Norwalk since we have family nearby. We were finally able to dine in tonight and the food was just as delicious as it has always been. I had a delicious cilantro margarita, too. The rosemary maple wings are absolutely delicious. They should sell the sauce by the jar. Their Brussel sprouts are the best I have ever had too. Absolutely delicious. The rustic has always been our favorite pizza but we also tried the new one with bacon and hot honey and loved it, too. The service was excellent. We were sad to see it wasn't crowded and hope we were just lucky to catch it on a slower Saturday night. We love the very thin crust and the fresh ingredients. We no longer live near a Coals and constantly wish there was a NJ location near where we lived. Highly recommend!! read more

Tried it for the first time yesterday (Friday) It was a ghost town when we walked in @ 5:30 but it was bustling when we left about 7:00. Had an order of Buffalo Wings and a Margareta pizza. The wings were first rate with a delicious sauce albeit not the traditional Franks Hot Sauce and butter variety. I think these wings were baked not deep fried which for some I guess is a bonus. The pizza was different. The crust was the thickness of a flour tortilla. I'm curious does anyone know if they hand stretch the dough? The topping were good, maybe a hand crushed whole peeled canned tomato (San Marzano?) and the mootz was fine. Personally, I prefer a thicker crust, not that there's anything wrong with this crust. The crowd was mostly young, urban & hip. Maybe the appeal of the thin crust is that if offers less carbs for cheat days from their keto diets? Anyway, we'll be back. read more

Coals is awesome!! Placed a take out order on Tuesday but didn't realize it was their one shuttered day. My husband came home with an inferior neighborhood pizza and we asked their owners about the mistake. They couldn't have been more apologetic or generous... invited us back, their treat, and several nights later we were there and enjoyed a yummy salad and delish truffle pizza. The owner recognized my husband and the misorder from earlier in the week and insisted on sending us off with two ENORMOUS pizzas and a lovely chocolate crepe. Suffice it to say, we've been eating pizza for three nights now...not a problem...and we really appreciate how responsive they were...no biggie but they treated it like it was. As a biz owner, I really understood their insistence on trying to right a wrong and it did the trick, along with the delicious food, great service. We will definitely return with a larger party to enjoy their great cuisine, fast service, and good heartedness. Wholly recommended!! read more

Tried Coals for the first time after seeing FB review. Ordered pizza - Dean Martin and chicken wings classic buffalo style. Took it home for dinner. Surprisingly, pizza box felt just lukewarm- not like usual hot pizza from usual places. Couldnt wait to get home so took a slice - surprise it was almost like 5-6 inches long by 2 in wide. Wow, first bite - it was flavorful at that warm state - thin crust with fresh tomatoes and single slices of pepperoni on top. That was enough for a taste test, lol. However, since it took some time driving back home, I did warm up the pizza on broiler oven. Interestingly enough, I noted an oily taste thereafter and the flavorful taste seemed to have vanished altogether. Could it be that the heat altered the pizza?? Hmmm, i wonder. Also, not so cost-effective for a family of 3or 4; the pizza cost- same prize of medium pizzas in most places in Norwalk, possibly not so cost-efficient for a family considering how thin each rectangular slice was with less toppings. You will need more than 1 box to feed fambam sighhh. Absolute Winner was the chicken wings - AWESOME!! crispy on the edges, buffalo sauce was very mild, no tinge of heat so I added hot sauce on top -) Also, there are no celery sticks, carrot sticks or bleu cheese dip included. Will definitely come back for chicken wings and just perhaps I will try different pizza next time. read more

What a great place! Great space, warmed up with wall paper and decor, and the pizza is so unique and tasty! Super thin with fabulous sauce. The salads were also a real treat. BUT The wings were an amazing surprise and we have even taken them to.go for parties! 3 different types and all are full of flavor with a kick!
