This spot was underground with an old fashioned and unique bar. The dining area was separate from the entire bar. The menu had lots of appealing and unique options. I believe the menu changes regularly as well. The service was appreciated, and the food came out in a timely matter. The P.E.I. mussels ($15) and Asian pork belly tacos ($15) were ordered as appetizers. The mussels were a special the night I attended. They were in a white wine broth with Italian sausage and grilled ciabatta for dipping. There were about 20 fresh mussels present and they were tasty. The simple broth along with the grill taste on the ciabatta made for an appetizing dish. There did not seem to be much of a sausage presence, however. The tacos consisted of hoisin, ginger pickled cabbage, cucumber, and a srirachas mayo on corn tortillas. There were 3 tacos present and each was double wrapped which was useful due to the amount of filling present. The pork belly was succulent while the rest of the toppings went well with the pork. It was a good start to the meal. For my entrée, I had the arctic char ($26). It came with a mushroom risotto, which was creamy and delicious. The arctic char was cooked to perfection and had a layer of spinach butter on top. The spinach butter combined with the arctic char made for a great meal. Will I go back? Definitely. read more

A group of girlfriends and I made reservations for 6:30 at this spot. When I arrived I had to park a little distance because parking in New Brunswick can be tough. The restaurant had indoor and outdoor seating and it is a small, cute spot. I was greeted by the manager Brian and he was great to us. He came out to help serve and check on us. Tori was our server and she did just ok. For our drinks, we caught happy hour, so I got a glass of red wine and some kind if mimosa which was tasty. The girls really liked their drinks as well. As we drank the chef, Jackie, came out and introduced herself and explained the menu. It is limited but she is new and is building it back up. For entrées I got the beef bolognese pappardelle and asked for a side of bread. The bolognese was ok, I had to add salt to make it a bit more to my liking and the bread was hard. The chef sent complimentary grilled cheese, their version, and while I didn't try it the girls loved it. At the end of the night they were able to separate checks. We arrived early for a happy hour martini at the bar before our dinner. I was disappointed to see that the martini list was much shorter than it was pre-covid. However, they still have my ultimate favorite (the delicious green tea-ni!). We ordered alligator in a blanket, but they subbed the meat with venison sausage as they were out of gator. Oh well, it was soo good! The "cocktail dinner" was truly an experience. Executive chef Jacqueline and mixologist Woodrow paired the food and drinks perfectly! I'm having a hard time choosing my favorite dish between the oysters/tuna sashimi and duck breast with cherry port jus. The drinks were all equally delicious. I absolutely loved this little bar! My boyfriend mentioned he used to come her a lot in college so we decided to drop by. We came just for cocktails and sat at the bar. We ordered three different drinks lychee, Italian ice, and apple pie. First off the drinks are amazing. They actually taste exactly like the title or name of the drink. They are quite strong too, not to mention they leave you the rest of the shaker which is basically two refills of your drink. The bartenders were super kind and great conversations. As a resident of New Brunswick for five years, I had never gone to Clydz nor passed by it. However, my friends and I made an early dinner reservation for 5 pm during the week. Even with the early time, the restaurant was packed, and they thankfully allowed me to sit at the table while my friends were running late. I admit that the food is on the pricier end, but there are a good amount of options and the drink menu is quite extensive. My friends ordered the truffle fries and arctic char, and I got the pappardelle bolognese. My friend let me try her dish and it was delicious. The fish melted in my mouth and the risotto was very creamy. Sadly, I found my pasta to be lacking, especially with the portion size and price point. Great spot for drinks! Their cocktails do not disappoint - try the lychee martini, green tea-ni, and the Don't Drink Too Many of These! I've also had the Lavender Rush and Lady from Lanai which are great as well. Their food used to be phenomenal but it seems like they had to shut their kitchen down for a bit during the pandemic - they've built their menu back up though so I'm looking forward to trying more food options off their menu next time! Great place for happy hour in the heart of New Brunswick! It was fairly empty when my friends and I went for happy hour (4-7pm) so there was no wait time. They currently have indoor and outdoor dining- they may look small on the outside but they are VERY spacious and have a lot of seating on the inside. They have the BEST selection for happy hour cocktails!! I tried the Lychee drink and the Cocaine Lady, which were both delicious yet strong enough/well-made & give you the best value for the price. They truly have something for everyone in terms of drinks and they even give you the whole shaker of the cocktail! Unfortunately, they have less choices for happy hour food (only 4 items), but the dishes are still priced at a relatively reasonable level at $6 per dish. The bar has happy hour 4-7 pm form Monday- Friday with $8 cocktails The drinks ARE amazing they have so many options (like over 30) and they're so great I loved the sours and signature drinks. The ambience is nice, low lit and cozy and they have cutie fish tanks too it's a great date spot but also a spot to chill with crowd of friends. It does get crowded around 5/6 pm but summer hours they're less crowded. I would definitely get a reservation if you want to the dining area. The staff is super friendly and the service was surprisingly very fast. The truffle fries were amazing. The mushroom risotto was good I wish it was slightly seasoned with more salt pepper and there was something I felt was missing but it was overall great risotto. I didn't try the chicken sandwich but it looked amazing. The food was pricey with entrees ranging from $24-$36 but I do think for the quality of the meal it was worth it. If you are the adventurous game meat eater, this is the spot for you to go to town. Clydz is little hidden gem across the street from the court house. Here you will find your wild boar, kangaroo, and alligator. Don't come here with a picky or non-adventurous companion. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and actually would be a great first date spot. The wall art is all alcohol related and it's actually pretty cool. What do I recommend you order? Definitely get the cucumber and feta salad. It's really refreshing and surprising delicious. You can get a sampler with all the exotic meats on a platter. I opted for the monkfish special. Visited on a busy Saturday night. This place does not have a host/hostess so you're just walking in. We showed up around 8:30 and waited around 10ish minutes until my best friend found a table open up and we grabbed it. We came primarily for drinks and light apps. I started with their "most popular" drink (per the waiter), the Holiday Inn and my friend started with the Intelligent gimlet. As for food: we went with the lemon-scented artichoke dip and the fried zucchini and yucca. The drinks were excellent. They're served with a shaker so, after the waiter pours your first serving, you're able to keep the remaining shaker and pour yourself as you continue to drink. The food? Not so great. Well, at least not those particular apps. The lemon flavor of the artichoke was very light and served with two different types of chips which I found very random. Neither the zucchini fries nor the yucca fries were good. They were also served with two types of sauces but it didn't matter because they just weren't good. There were second drinks ordered: I got the Moscow mule and my friend got something that I don't remember. Again, the drinks are and were the best. I can't imagine there being a bad choice on their menu. As a surprise to myself, my bestie let the waiter know it was my birthday so after I came from the restroom and I was met with celebratory sips and a fruit crumble. Very sweet touch! read more

This place has a classy speakeasy vibe right in downtown New Brunswick! One of my favorite bars. It's located inside of an old cellar, which is pretty cool (can be a bit tight for tall people). The interior is really nice - exposed brick, dim lights, a nice bar with a fish tank. There's also a restaurant here that's discreetly tucked away from main bar area. Which is awesome if you're looking for a private date and want to avoid the crowd. I got food here before and it was very "interesting". I recall they had kangaroo steak, python, alligator sausage... I think this place serves New Zealand/Australian cuisine (where else you gonna find kangaroos). I remember getting the alligator sausage, which was actually pretty good. People mostly come here for the drinks. This place has really great drinks, I would say the best in New Brunswick, in terms of originality, quality, and variety. Not those copy and paste drinks that you see at every bar. They have some solid choices. It can be quite pricey, which is why it's good to come during happy hour and double down on your drinks. 4.5/5 super chill place, great setting, the people here tend to be a bit mature/not your typical college kid (although many still make it here).
