Spinach artichoke dip
Susanna C.

We ordered a variety of appetizers. The spinach artichoke dip was my favorite, very creamy. The bacon had a nice flavor. The calamari was just ok, not crunchy and the mushroom croquettes came with a sauce that didn't match the croquettes. Overall though we enjoyed the apps. The location will be closing in a week to move to a new location - so we wanted to visit and bid farewell to this longstanding New Brunswick icon.

It's a fun late night spot for drinks! This is the place to go if you're more of a cocktail person rather than a beer person. The drinks aren't cheap like you would find at a dive bar on Easton Ave but they're well-made, which makes it worth the price. It's a casual vibe and the service is good. They explain the drinks to you and can help accommodate to your needs and preference. For instance, I like sweeter drinks so they helped us choose a sweet drink we might like. They are also able to modify drinks to your liking. Some of the drinks we ordered weren't as sweet and they were able to adjust for us to have it taste sweeter!

Good place to hangout with friends and catchup over drinks. The bar area is always packed and feels happening when compared to the dining area. Service was quick and the staff seemed very polite and helpful. Drinks are very good but is only above average.

Corporate nonsense

5 stars for the service 0 stars to Helix for bowing down to the slogan "to disrupt and transform regional economies" sounds like they want to take out the only place that has any sense of community in the town. First time visitor but I can see a problematic low effort real estate firm ruining what was a good place. Thank you to all the employees who work there. I hope helix loses all the money they can.

Friends invited me out & this is where they chose. It's my 1st time here. It's a "downstairs" venue in the heart of New Brunswick, so parking is metered (until 10pm) or in a parking garage. In either case....good luck. You come in to what is like a small bar, they serve great cocktails. We had a few. You walk further back & there's the restaurant portion. We had a large party, so I only took pictures of my food. EVERYONE loved what they ordered & we all shared, so we know everything was amazing. Definitely a 5-star experience for both food and drink. I had the Pappardelle Bolognese, Truffle Fries, & a few Hub City Presses, lol. Incredible! Definitely will be back. Grades: Pappardelle Bolognese: A+ Truffle Fries: A+ Hub City Press: A++

I'm surprised in my time at Rutgers I never stumbled upon this adorable place. It is so quaint and beautifully decorated. Came here for a Tarot event and it was a blast! Ordered fries and they were good to pick at :-) Drinks were great!!!! Amazing service. I will be back for HH - very limited vegetarian options

I came here for my birthday dinner. We ordered fries, wings, and seafood pasta. For dessert we had a blueberry turnover. This location is beautiful decorated and the staff is very nice. They have seating available outside, at the bar, or seated at a table.

Great local pub with atmosphere and great food! A current favorite this year on date night for my lady and me; really well thought out and executed meals and appetizers, a really dark and sexy bar entrance with these great little booths behind the bar area and a larger dining room on a second level. Appetizers and main courses are always delicious, we never had a single plate put in front of us here that didn't end up completely cleared by us unless we ordered more than we could handle. Stand out meals every time here, easy parking nearby in two parking garages within a block walk and the rare street parking in busy New Brunswick make it an easy choice for a great night out.

We had an amazing experience at Clydz! The drinks, food, and service are always top-notch. It's a perfect date-night and/or chill spot after work or a long day. We visited during happy hour for a late lunch, and it was a treat. I tried the Lavender Rush and order one of my go-to's the Absolut Mess, both of which were perfectly crafted. My fiancé ordered the Chili Cheddar Bacon Burger, customizing it with pickled poblanos and bacon on the side, and I ordered the steak sandwich from the specials menu. We both upgraded the side of chips to fries, for an additional $3. The fries were crispy, perfectly salted, and absolutely delicious. Now, my fiancé is someone who hates eating out and usually prefers home-cooked meals. However, he was genuinely impressed by Clydz! He loved both the burger and the fries, which he said reminded him of his own homemade hand-cut fries (he's very particular about them). As a New Brunswick native, he couldn't believe he'd never been here before, but we will definitely be back!

My previous review stands however I have been back to Clyde's for the first time in many years. Brought back great memories and the cocktails are just as good as last time. The espresso martinis are made with fresh brewed espresso on premises. Top pick these days.

Always a great time at Clydz when I go down to New Brunswick! Their happy hour deals are great- and you really get your moneys worth because they give you the leftover that's in the shaker. Parking is a little tricky so if you can take an uber, but again, great option- especially for a date spot.

A short walk later, I found myself at Destination Dogs, a place I had seen in photographs that suggested capaciousness. In reality, it is smaller.  This is not a complaint, just an observation.  I remember once hearing something about the contents of small packages. At 12:30 the place was full. Packed with humanity and appetite. I was seated quickly, as if someone had anticipated my hunger in advance. From the bar came the sound of construction crews discussing their midday rituals. Apparently this is where they come on Fridays, to repair themselves while they repair the city. It explained everything. Service was swift and attentive, a minor miracle given the crowd. I began with a Scotch egg, an item that seemed to have wandered in from another story entirely. I ordered it for that reason. I had always imagined my first Scotch egg would be eaten in an English pub under low ceilings and older regrets. Instead, here it was. Perfectly crisp, warm, and generous. The universe does not ask for permission. Then came the main event. The menu is an atlas of hot dogs. Domestic. International. Proteins in tube form arranged like possibilities. There is even an invitation to build your own, which I accepted. I attempted to recreate a favorite from Crif Dogs, a thing called the Spicy Redneck. Bacon wrapped dog. Pickled jalapenos. Coleslaw. Simple in theory. Destination Dogs improved upon it in every way that matters. The bacon crisped with purpose. The jalapenos spoke clearly. The coleslaw behaved. The hot dog itself seemed proud to be there. All of this, plus a 16 ounce beer, cost me about twenty five dollars with tip. A small price for order in a chaotic universe. Five stars. Not because perfection exists, but because this comes close enough to make the argument.

Listen, I have no real complaints. The food was great. The service was great. The atmosphere was…read moregood. But I am a fan of constructive criticism. I had the Gandolfi. It was delish but it could be improved with more or larger pepperonis. Also the sausage to bun ratio was off. Either make the sausage bigger or the bun smaller. Bottom line, you'll enjoy your food and beer.

I don't blame the waitstaff at all, as they are very kind, welcoming, and quick, in my experience. First, the food. The quality is fine, but I always find it a red flag when Asian restaurants are run by non-Asian people and there are no Asians in the crowd. "Authentic Korean" is just entirely not true, but I digress. The wings were quite good but expensive, and some of the menu items are absurd. Over $30 for a simple salmon was high to the point where I couldn't even try it to see if it was worth it. The drinks they have available are only high-end costs at mid end quality. I find a $26 New Jersey Riesling elsewhere more interesting than their $30-$56 selections. The soju and sake are insanely marked up and ridiculously priced. The food also takes quite a while to come out, even when they aren't busy at all. Plus, there's an automatic 20% gratuity charge. This didn't bother me, except for the fact that it is not only applied to food but to karaoke rooms. I found this very misleading. People do not expect to pay a 20% service charge on a room booking. This raised the $160/2 hrs to $192, and they refused to budge on this misleading application of the tip. Today, a group of my friends went to the karaoke room. Yesterday, Friday, May 8th, my friend called and they told him it was $55/hr. Today, it was $80/hr. The strange part is, when we said we weren't expecting the high cost, a man (I'm presuming the manager, but I'm not sure) claimed that no one would ever say that, even though a waitress said just minutes before that it was probably the new guy and she was sorry. Then, the man doubled down and said that yesterday, the charge would have been $55 but today (Saturday) it's $80. This makes even less sense to me because, upon checking afterward, the menu clearly says $55 Monday-Thursday, meaning that Friday would be the same cost as Saturday. So he clearly was lying to our faces that yesterday would have been the lower cost. I tried to verify this on the website, but it's so poorly built and disorganized that I can't even find the karaoke cost. I find this business model very confusing. I have no reason not to believe that lying on the phone + not including information on the website is so that people only choose to book the rooms when already inebriated. I would highly recommend avoiding this place. Support authentic (half the price!!) Korean restaurants instead.

From the get-go, the staff is very kind, respectful, and quick to take your order. I got the cornbread, which, at similar restaurants, is typically free as a courtesy, but here it was $3. The cornbread was great; I'd give it a (9/10). Shortly after, our food came as I had ordered the fried chicken entree, which came with baked mac and cheese for an extra $2. From the bite of the mac and cheese, it came out really good; I enjoyed the crust and seasoning, and I would definitely order the mac and cheese again (10/10). I would give this restaurant 5 stars if only the chicken had come out better. It had a good crunch, but the taste was honestly pretty bland. I wanted some juice from it, considering it was dark meat, but it was also fairly dry. It wasn't the worst fried chicken I've ever had, but it definitely didn't make the list (5/10). All in all, this place was a good experience. The staff was nice, the wait wasn't long, and the portions of the sides and food are very big. The only improvement is that the chicken needs better flavor and less dryness. 3.75/5; good.

While it would have been nice if our waiter stopped by a bit more so we could get the check sooner, given that this is a college town, it didnt seem like a big deal to us if we had to wait a little longer for things like the check or placing our order - just something to keep in mind.

The appetizers were super expensive and such a ridiculously small amount. We had 4 in our party and got 2 appetizers to share but the portions were too small even for 1 person; the quail appetizer I think was $35! I had the veal chop, which cost $61 I think was just OK. My wife had halibut Special, and she thought just OK as well and high priced, and she finished it all which speaks to the portion size, because almost always she can't finish her entrée so that should tell you something. Point is that when you pay such a high price you at least hope for a meal that is much better than 'just ok'! We got after dinner drinks with desserts we were sharing and the desserts came out, but the drinks did not. We waited at least 20 minutes for the drinks where the waitress said there was a problem with the chocolate martini, which is a very basic drink. Not only did they not comp us anything re: the long wait, the dessert we ordered sticky pudding was dry and the ice cream that came with it was like a tablespoon size portion. We asked for a little more ice cream and to add salt to the wound they charged us $10. I mean come on guys lets get real, bad enough we finished our desserts waiting for the drinks, then you bang us $10 more for more ice cream that should have been served in the first place? The server should have at least mentioned the very long drink delay to the manager who should have done something! Maybe these are the kinds experiences leading to the 3 1/2 stars that they have in Yelp. They got our money but lost our business down the road, so their loss in the long run!
