I just finished the Intermediate Riding Course a couple of hours ago. I started riding 20 years ago, but am returning after 10 years off. My instructors were Carl, Max, Kevin, Joseph and JJ. They were all awesome, knowledgeable, clear and concise. Long days with lots of riding. Be prepared! Bring a cooler with lots of water and snacks. HYDRATE before and during the class; it gets pretty hot while on the range. Stretch. Take an ibuprofen, I am sore! And for those who are plus size/big.. if you're thinking of taking the class and think you might be too big, YOU'RE NOT!! There are helmets and gloves available, but I strongly suggest you bring your own. Especially if you have a bigger head or hands. As there isn't a huge selection for big heads lol. Two weeks ago I didn't even know how to ride a bicycle. I trained on a bicycle until I got it and came to Clutch Motorcycle Training to learn how to drive a motorcycle. The instructor's were amazing. They all helped me instill confidence myself and were reassuring when we did things right. When I made a mistake they helped me correct it and took extra time to make sure I understood the exercise. Learning to control the clutch and throttle takes some time so be patient with yourself. Aaron and Tony were amazing on day 2. I have been putting off getting my M1 license for years. I grew up on dirt bikes, I love riding motorcycles and I really wanted to finally get legal! I took the 1- Day premier course so I didn't have to schedule the riding test with the DMV (just the written) Jeanne was our class instructor- very welcoming, proficient, experienced, and really was encouraging. I am super fresh on a bike, but I've always wanted to learn. My boss suggested I take a CHP class and I found Clutch. I recommend the early morning classes as it geta super hot on the pavement by 10am. I really enjoyed our riding instructors JJ and Ashley. Disclaimer: Covid-19 season. Motorcycles with manual transmission. 1st Class Lecture: Online. Live. This utilizes a live video not a pre-recorded. The instructor is well informed and knowledgeable. The class itself is not boring. My schedule was Wednesday, 6PM. 1st Riding Session: My schedule was Thursday, 7AM. Great thing is traffic is light on the freeway so getting to the facility is easy and fast. For the riding session itself, the instructor is informative and helpful. The riding session is only 5 hours, with breaks. The disadvantage of it? Everything is crammed together for a short period of time. If you have no experience in motorcycles (with manual transmissions) and tend to over think things, then try to have a friend show you how to cruise, at a safe location, from a complete stop before you sign up. It will make your life easier during this beginner course. Even though this is a beginner course, knowing the theory is actually different from applying it. The exercises are quite fun and easy. "Easy" at least for me. 2nd Class Lecture: Online. Live. This utilizes a live video not a pre-recorded. Instructor is pretty knowledgeable not just about the text book knowledge but real world knowledge. This is the evening online, 6PM, after the 1st Riding Session earlier in the morning. 2nd Riding Session: I wasn't able to attend earlier today, 6:45AM due to only having around 3 hours of sleep. For safety reasons, I decided to drop out. It's sad since I was excited to finish the course. I guess my excitement was too much. I will try again next time. Facility Entrance? The entrance of the facility is along Cherry Ave. There is a (small?) gate for vehicles to enter. Motorcycle gears? Helmet: Personally, buy an affordable DOT rated helmet (3/4 helmet with face shield or full-face helmet) as well as leather gloves. I purchased an affordable DOT rated 3/4 helmet with face shield as seen in my profile photo. Leather Gloves: REMEMBER! (Motorcycle) Leather gloves will expand to around 5 percent more from its original size. Footwear: Over the ankle sturdy boots. I like boots and I wear my current boots, 8.3 inches height, whenever I go out so I did not have any problem nor have to purchase it. Long Sleeve Shirt/Jacket: A long sleeved sweater did fine for me; the one without any zipper on the front with thick cloth material. Pants: A denim pants; no holes or one of those "fashion" or "style" with rips on it. I just don't understand why people would even buy denim pants with "rips" on it. But that is for another topic :) read more
