Update: I took 4 more hours with Eric. I didn't know I needed them until I did them. It definitely helped and Eric was helpful as always.

Eric is a great teacher. He is patient and he will provide constant feedback through out the class in the most calm way possible. He makes you incredibly comfortable while driving and you get better after every class with him. Cruise Control Driving School - Cruise Control made me pass the test with Flying Colors! - Driving Schools Near Me - Compton, California

My daughter took their Online Drivers course back in November of 2025. Till today we have yet to receive the certificate of completion. Which is needed to take the written permit. My husband has tried so many times to work with him and he has completely avoided our attempts to receive a copy of the certificate. I booked three 2-hour lessons with Eric at Cruise Control Driving School. Here is a breakdown of each lesson. My first lesson he showed up 2 hours late. Shortly after getting getting in the car, he complimented my hair. Halfway through he had me stop at 7-Eleven and purchased me a water and himself a drink. At the end of this lesson, he complimented my perfume and told me "I smelled nice". During our second lesson, he arrived 1 and 1/2 hours late, due to him being late my lesson was cut 30 mins short. Shortly after getting in the car, he said "I always smell amazing." Toward the end of the lesson, he finally put me on the gas and break and during that transition, he told me that I had "nice lips" I was overcome with the feeling of discomfort, and he waited until right after I told him I was 20 years old to make that comment. After that lesson, I told my godmother. I was nervous to cancel because I had already paid him in cash after our first lesson. For our third lesson, he arrived 20 mins late. He agreed to give me my extra 30 minutes from the previous lesson. I was very closed off during this lesson so I didn't speak much. He asked if I had done any driving outside of our lessons. He asked what my mom thought of my driving and I told him she said 'I drove too slow and I checked my mirrors too often'. He became slightly angry and offended. I told him she wasn't discrediting his teaching. Throughout the lesson, he kept telling me 'I was listening to, too many people', and I was driving too fast like the other idiots on the road. I was only driving the speed limit for the street. During our lesson, he started having me drive into an area that was farther from our usual radius. He had me turn into a residential neighborhood with steep hills and instructed me to park on the street. I asked why and where we were, he said it was his home. I was uncomfortable, I didn't think it was appropriate for us to have stopped at his house for a bag of chips and water. He asked if I wanted anything to drink, I quickly declined and he asked me once again I said "No". After he got out of the car I called my friend for comfort and told her where I was. We stayed on the phone until he got back in the car. During the last few minutes of my lesson, he had me drive around my house making efforts to avoid it. Finally, I had enough and I made a turn he asked why I turned. I said 'Because our lesson is over" he said "No, we still have time left" I said "No, we don't and I have things to do". He turned to me and said "AND" There was a silent pause and he burst into laughter all by himself and I drove the car home. It felt like he was trying to keep me in the car. Although his instruction was great it's not worth feeling unsafe and uncomfortable, it's hard to drive under those conditions. He needs to understand he is a teacher and I was a student, not some girl for him to pick up. His behavior was inappropriate and predatory. read more

Eric is the best instructor. He is patient, funny and makes you feel comfortable driving behind the wheel. I guarantee that once you take your test you'll pass and feel confident. The prices for lessons worked in my budget. I like the fact that he picks you up, especially if you don't have someone to drop you off. Best Instructor, Definitely reach out, very professional. I am 23 years old and I have been so scared to start driving, but I finally built up the courage and I have my first session today. The session was 2 hours long, it was affordable. The Instructor was amazing. He is calm the entire time, he is constantly giving me advise and guiding me. He can see where I am stuggling in and guides me through it. I get very nervous and overwhelmed but he kept reminding me to breath, relax and talked me through the entire lesson. We went through the main roads, and I learned a lot in those two hours. It wasn't awkward and we got to have a conversation making me feel comfortable. At first it was hard to talk and drive because it was a lot for me but it actually ended up making me calmer and improved my driving. Overall I am glad I found a good Instructor and I already booked my next session for Monday and will be booking him for two hours a week!! Also keep in mind that he has sessions back to back and there is traffic so if he happens to be late just be understanding, I am a dog trainer and go to people's homes so I understand the struggle of getting to places back to back. I am so happy I found this driving school for my son and it's in the neighborhood. We live in Long Beach but Compton is HOME & on January 17th my son went into Compton DMV to take his written test for the 1st time and passed. Soon as we left the Compton DMV we drove straight over to Cruise Control but Eric wasn't in the office he was with a student so I told him that I'd call him back the following day. When I called him the next day he told me about his special that he had for $220 with 6 hours of Behind the Wheel drivers training and it only lasted until the end of the month. We made an appointment for yesterday on January 29th at 4pm and this was to "activate" the driving permit, we made an agreement to do the next 2 hours when my son goes on Spring Break the 1st week of April so he can get the 50 hours from now until then driving back and forth to school daily and Eric can see how well he has progressed. Then the last 2 hours will be in June when school is out because my son turns 16 on July 2nd and we want to have his 1st Behind the wheel test by July 18th which will be the 6 months and 1 day that he has had his permit. My son said he felt comfortable with Eric and when he came home at 6pm Eric told me that he did good and just to let him drive as much as possible since he is a good driver and that everything is been teaching him for the past 6 months was good. That's when I told him the plan is to have him drive back and forth to school everyday until March 30th because he will have those 50 hours and my sons bus pass expired on Sunday the 28th so Monday the 29th was perfect to have him start driving himself back and forth to school because when he got out he had his 1st 2 hour session with Eric and now the permit is VALID!! Thanks so much Eric I have been referring your driving school to EVERYONE I So yesterday was July 18, 2018 and my son DMV appointment was at 9:20am he was the 1st person to do his behind the wheel test since the DMV opened at 9am AND HE PASSED on his 1st try!! Eric was so awesome, I had my son do his last 2 hours the day before on the 17th at 3:30pm that way he'd be finished at 5:30pm and it'd be time to eat, take a shower, wash dishes and go to bed. I didn't want him to be anxious all day having to wait to do his drivers test thinking it was so long in between. I took my 6 hour lessons in June and I just got my license in December thanks to Eric my mom was more comfortable with me driving on allowing me to get more practice and pass my behind the wheel. My experience with Eric was very good he doesn't yell at you if you make a mistake he just makes sure you know what you did wrong. I took lessons with him over summer. Nice guy but was never on time. Also the day I called to set up driving appointments he said we would start on one day at a certain time and I immediately put it in my calendar. When the time came he called me a day before and confirmed our appointment for that day and I told him i thought it was for the following day and he said no I have it in my calendar for today. I of course ended up doing the lesson regardless but it was quite irritating he got his scheduling mixed up when i know for a fact it was supposed to be the next day. He takes his time though, and we had good conversations while i drove. I decided to set up lessons a month or so later and told him I only practiced once since then and he had the nerve to say "only once??" With a bit of an attitude. It annoyed me because not everyone has easy access to practice all the time with other people. I ended up canceling those appointments. Go ahead and try this guy out he's a good teacher I suppose, he was just never on time. read more

BEST DRIVING INSTRUCTOR EVER! I booked 3 days 6 hours 2 per each day classes and I passed on my first try. I tried learning from my mom and believe me when I say thank god I got classes lol Eric is very professional and super patient. He doesn't make you feel like you're doing a bad job and motivates you to have courage and do the best you can do when you're a first time driver. I called cruise control to be taken to my behind the wheel driving exam, I was taught by a friend so did not need classes, but if you dont have anyone to teach you or take you to your driving exam I would definitely recommend cruise control. Eric the driving instructor was very nice and I felt comfortable with him. On our way to the DMV he gave me tips so I could do good on the exam and pointed out any mistakes i was making but without making me feel bad. Well after going through a different driving school and having a horrible experience I came across Cruise Control. What a blessing. My instructor Eric was awesome! I became very comfortable and at ease soon. He sure had his work cut out with me as my previous school taught me a few things that were incorrect. I took 10hrs of lessons and then took my behind the wheel test. Ugh to my dismay I failed the test. I hit the curb when I was parallel parking. That had never happened during all my lessons. Eric was awesome after going over my results he said there were no errors other than that. So I tried again the following week and BAM!!! I passed. Eric was a great teacher and I really appreciate all the patience he had with me. I sometimes felt that I was being too needy because I seemed to always ask if I was doing something right or not. But he didn't mind and always made sure to give the perfect amount of praise and complimenting on doing well. He was a good confidence builder and I would definitely recommend Cruise Control to everyone. Sometimes you aren't able to get lessons immediately but they are worth the wait. On the plus side when I failed my test Eric didn't push me to get more lessons he just said to practice on my own a little more. He wasn't pushy about getting more lessons but did offer that purchasing more lessons was also an option. He was cool! read more
