This is a hole in the wall place. My daughter already knew the basics to driving, and they were able to give great pointers, and train her for the behind the wheel exam. The owner was very accommodating with scheduling her behind the wheel lessons right away, since my daughters permit was about to expire. My daughter really her driving instructor. This place was the most Affordable training I found. The owner is an older Hispanic man. He was extremely nice and helpful. He gave great suggestions regarding getting an earlier appointment for behind the wheel test at the DMV. read more

We have older sons that we taught to drive but decided to give our teenager driving classes as a birthday gift. The owner Jose was quick to take the money and said he needed to do the driver's ED, between school and studying the manual it took a couple of months for him to be ready, at this point the driving school had done nothing but sent him to driver's ED which is fine. When my husband called to set up the driving lessons the same person, Jose who was friendly when we paid the classes was super rude and said it took too long but scheduled the classes, first day our son went Jose was unfriendly and rude but the instructor Rosalina was great, she even apologized for her boss's behavior. Second day the instructor was late so Jose took time with our son, he came back home saying he was stressed out, that he had to endure 30 minutes of yelling and this guy belittling him, he did not want to go back anymore, this guy really did a number on him :( On the last session Jose kept insisting that he needed more hours (Yea right!); this guy has not idea how to talk to people and I would say he tries to have people failing so they pay more hours, please stay away from them. It does not matter what kind of business you have, customer service skills are a must, you Jose have no respect for people, neither know how to deal with customers, our son will remember this as a bad experience and if you are wondering, no, we will not go back for more hours, thank you very much but we are done with you. read more

Before working with this school, I had zero driving experience. I was very, very nervous, but my instructor Angelica was really patient with me. She's very strict on rules because she hopes for all her students to be able to pass their driver's test. I really struggled with my turns, so she made sure we spent a lot of time practicing with the wheel. Now that I'm finished with my 6 hours, I feel so comfortable driving. She is able to effectively communicate, even though English isn't her first language. I would recommend working with this school if you have no experience with driving! read more

I paid 360 just to be yelled at by Angelica, little to no patience. She will repeatedly tell you to pay for more hours for beginner drivers, learn how to talk to people!!!! And her husband is rude and unprofessional as well. Don't come to this school, go somewhere better. read more

This driving school is very good at teaching you how to drive. Two of my brothers went to this school prior before me , and are excellent drivers now. If you go to this school I highly recommend choosing Angelica as your driving instructor she makes sure you know what your doing before going to the next step. When I first started driving I was very nervous and scared. Angelica made sure I felt very comfortable and relaxed behind the wheel she is very friendly and will get you driving correctly and smooth in no time!! If you're going to pay this place for driving lessons, make sure you get taught with a great instructor. I was chosen to get Hugh as an instructor, and all I can simply say was that he was awesome at teaching due to his helpful techniques and knowledge. I came to this place with little driving experience and having poor driving skills, to eventually being a confident and skilled driver. I definitely recommend building your driving skills at this place, but make sure you get Hugh or any other instructor that can teach you the best way possible. read more

My daughter signed up for this school on 11/02/11 and her first day was today 11/7/11. First let me say that the one and only male instructor was very rude to my daughter. Throughout her entire time on the road he consistently yelled at my daughter asking her 'do you know how to count to 2' and 'don't you know how to follow directions'. This IS NOT THE BEHAVIOR you have when dealing with an already uneasy teenager. Then when I called the office and spoke with the manager he had the nerve to say 'she needs to listen to the instructor'. I informed him that this I am aware of but his instructors need to have patient with new driver which I stated she was when I signed her up. I will be there frist thing in the morning for a refund. read more

Both my mom and I have had great experiences with Gonzalez driving school. In particularly with the instructor Angelica. She is very detailed and patient. She takes her time explaining the rules and is very knowledgeable. She works great with people who are afraid to drive and have little experience. After the lessons, you leave well prepared for the driving test. I wholeheartedly recommend her! read more

Well people save your money and go somewhere else. I called two other driving schools in Compton before settling with this one. I was told on the phone that 6hrs was $200 and that if I needed to rent a car for the dmv test it would be $90. Mr Jose Gonzalez said if I got 6hrs of lessons I'd get the rental for $60. That's a little more than most but they were able to start my lessons ASAP. My instructor, Angelica, showed upon time. However she spoke very little English! Horrible instructor. While teaching me to park she always had me park more than a foot away from the curb. She was nice enough but the language was a problem. So I figured my next lesson would be with someone who spoke better English. Wrong! She showed up and after tells me I'm not ready for the DMV test and need another six hours of lessons. I said no thanks. I get ready for the last lessons and she says the same thing. I politely declined. When she drops me off she tells me she'll be here an hour before my dmv appointment. So the day of my dmv test gets here. She's supposed to be here at 12pm. She didn't arrive until about 15minutes before my DMV test. Needless to say I failed and afterwards she tells me, "I told you so, you need more lessons." When I informed her that I would be getting more lessons from someone else she got offended and was pissed because she was late picking up another student. So she drove me home Scariest ride I've ever been on. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Save your money!!!!! Go to another driving school. I got the 6 hours for $200 my instructor was an older lady. She was not friendly at all she would be yelling and getting frustrated. The last day of class she made me park for first time she got mad I didn't do it correctly she made rude comments and made me so mad I wanted to go home. After that she made very racist comments about Latinos that they were lazy she is latina herself! When I told my father he was very angry and wanted a refund. I'm a first time driver and I was searching for driving schools when I walked past this on Santa Fe. I decided to stop in just to see what the price range was. I spoke to Mr. Gonzalez himself. He told me that 6 hours of lessons would cost me $225 and if I needed a car for the day of the driving test, it would be $90. I decided to book my classes here just because I was tired of searching for driving schools and honestly, this was the cheapest price I got. I arrive the following day for my classes and my instructor was a Latina lady named Angelica. She has a thick accent when she speaks English, but nonetheless everything she said when I met her and as she was teaching me how to drive, was understandable. She made me practice my parking against the curb a couple of times because I was parking too close to the curb and she told me that the correct way to park was 18 inches off of the curb and she told me to remember that come the day of the exam. I also had trouble making right turns--apparently I was making them too wide and she made me switch seats in order to show me how to make a proper right turn. I thought that was pretty cool given that I've never driven a car--I liked that she was able to show me how to make proper turns. At the end of the 6 hours Angelica told me that I needed more lessons because I still needed to brush up. I decided to take two more hours of lessons and that only cost me about $80 bucks. The day of the test came around and I passed! I was super excited and extremely thankful to the instructor for being patient with me and for going that extra mile to help me. I would most definitely recommend this school and the instructor. I'm sure all the other instructors they have there are just a great as her. read more

My experience, both with the school & results, was great! First off, I already had experience with driving so I only rented the vehicle. What I liked about this Driving School was the fact that although I was just renting the car, they still gave me an instructor to review with the car before my driving test appointment. In addition, when I arrived the receptionist & instructors (along with my instructor) were very nice & optimistic-- since they kept saying "good luck, good luck". Lastly, the price was $80 which was reasonable & adequate for they were accessible/flexible & had a great environment (relational-wise). Now, what I liked about my instructor was that before we started our review she presented herself (Angelica) & asked me where was I at as a driver. She instructed me with firmness but fairness & more than anything with the intention to teach me & correct me in my minor errors. In addition, she made sure to not "make it awkward" so-to-say, since she did treat me as a person by having a conversation with me--professionally, of course. In addition, she was very optimistic & encouraging since she kept saying, "we're getting that license today". Lastly, although she was unable to stay with me during my driving test (therefore, also after the driving test) because she had to get another student, she didn't leave me alone, she left me in charge with the owner himself. But, what moved me about that was that, she called me afterwards & asked how I did, hence, although she left me, the fact that she called made me feel better about myself & about her as an instructor & person Overall, I do recommend this place & even the instructor Angelica (if you're someone serious & don't take her lesson personal). The reason why I had her was because my sister had her previously, she was happy with it, my Father (who paid) was happy with it & now I'm happy with it. This is one of the WORST driving schools you could ever hire for lessons. ALL the instructors here are shit. They are assholes, and have no patience with new drivers. When I got my permit I made the mistake of contacting this school for lessons. they sent me one of their shitty instructors. She was an older woman, and she was a total bitch. I DID NOT learn with her. As a matter of fact she made me more of a nervous driver. I did not gain any confidence at all. Took me months to actually gain confidence, but I still panic from time to time. This bitch traumatized me. She shouldn't be a driving instructor especially for people who are very nervous. My experience with her was shit. She made me park a little too far from the curb and got pissed when I did it wrong. Um... HELLO BITCH! I'm new to this? She would constantly yell, making me tense up. I dreaded taking lessons with her. Please please PLEASE listen to me when I say this. DO NOT call this school for lessons. Save your money. Don't waste your money just so you can be yelled at and not learn anything. I highly recommend Olympic Driving School. Great instructors. Thanks to them I got my license. They made me a better driver, and corrected everything the stupid old bitch of an instructor from Gonzalez did not teach me correctly. I would rate this 0 stars if I could. read more
