Unprofessional, Disorganized, and Completely Unaccountable This company is an absolute disaster. I had a very important DMV appointment, and their office somehow failed to log it altogether -- even though they had no problem taking my payment right away. When I called to confirm the appointment, I was told there was no record of it. Instead of owning up to their mistake, Kenya gave me attitude and offered nothing useful except to "reschedule." The issue was entirely on their end, yet she acted like she was doing me a favor. I asked to speak to Edward, the so-called manager, and of course, he couldn't be bothered to talk to me. He had his secretary handle it instead -- who clearly had no authority and offered a bunch of useless, unacceptable suggestions that didn't help at all. I eventually had to resolve the situation myself -- something they should have handled from the start. Luckily, there happened to be another driver at the DMV at the time, or I would've been completely out of luck. This entire operation is unprofessional from top to bottom. They lack communication, accountability, and basic customer service skills. Kenya was rude, Edward hid behind his staff, and nobody took responsibility for their own mistake. If your appointment actually matters, do NOT trust this business. They will take your money, mess up your schedule, and then blame you for their incompetence. I honestly have no idea how they're still in business. If I could put zero stars I would. read more

Update: What can I say. This place has helped THREE of my children get their licenses. From the written pre test to the dmv permit test to the driving test! You simply can't go wrong with this Driving School. All the instructors are top notch. We also paid to use the car and that includes a 1 hour Pre-test drive. Amazing amazing amazing. I normally don't leave reviews, but I felt it was important to share my experience. I only received 20 driving sessions (I paid for a full 1 hour which I didn't get) because my boyfriend took the initiative to fix a problem that the school itself failed to resolve. The staff at the office admitted the mistake was on their end, yet they acted as if they weren't at fault and made no real effort to help us. They were very quick to take payment, but completely unavailable when it came to correcting their own error. The situation caused me a lot of stress and anxiety, and I even missed work and risk losing my driving test appointment because of their disorganization (Key importance: My boyfriend had spoken with the manager Edward they day prior my appointment to confirm everything was in order and he assured us everything was set for the next day). The only person who was kind, patient, and truly helpful was the instructor my boyfriend took the initiative to fix the problem they created and went to speak the instructor to see if she could help us since everyone in the office absolutely failed to do so. Although I passed my driving test, it was not because of the school (even though they are now trying to take credit for it) I passed thanks to my boyfriend's help and the lessons he gave me when the school failed to do their part. My instructor Esperanza was a doll! She was so kind and helpful, really helped my nerves. She really knows her stuff and the hour practice before my test really came in handy. My only complaint is that I expected to given a Prius or somewhat of a newer car to drive but unfortunately I was given some sort of a clunker :/ this car was very difficult to drive, I had to press HARD on the breaks and constantly have to TURN the wheel, just to make the car turn a bit. Other than that, I would def recommend this service to anyone, the instructors were great! I would just suggest to ask ahead of time what car will be provided. read more

My son purchased a 3 day driving packet with Ruth. I was hesitant about letting my son drive even with his permit but the instructors give you and your kids the confidence they need to drive. Ruth was knowledgeable even with the routes that were going to be used for the actual dmv test. On the second day of driving lessons my son opted to purchase the dmv test with City Driving School. They let my son use the car that was used (during training) to take the test. Today my son took the test and he passed. Thank you Ruth and Eddie. I purchased a Groupon last year for my daughter to complete the online course needed in order to take her driver's permit test. She completed the online course, took the driver's permit test and passed on the 2nd try. I proceeded to pay for the 6hr driving course ($300) which were broken down 3 days / 2 hours. They also offer a flexible payment plan which makes its easier on your pocket. Ruth assisted me from the moment we walked in the door up until scheduling the behind the wheel test appointment at the DMV. Due to the whole pandemic, my daughter had to wait to complete the last class; however, her instructor Marvin and Edgar were extremely professional. They gave her pointers and helped her prepare for the big day! The day is here: 9/10/2020! We arrived at DMV Bell Gardens, checked in, and waited for the DMV employee. Our appointment was at 8am. My daughter was the 1st one. The DMV employee came and off my daughter went!! 15 minutes later went by, she pulls into the parking lot, parks the car, gets pointers on what she needed to improve, exited the car, gave me a thumbs up, and just like that WE HAVE A NEW DRIVER ON THE ROAD!!! Today I passed my drivers test finally! Thanks to the help of City Driving School! I took lessons with Edgar, Marvin, and Edward -- they all helped me overcome my fear of driving and helped me boost my confidence to become a better driver. I especially want to thank Edgar who really tailored his teaching to my driving learning style and was super patient with me. It took me a LOOONGG time to get my license. I was too afraid and didn't like to practice driving with family members because they didn't have the patience to deal with my overwhelming driving anxiety. For a long time I thought I would NEVER get my driver's license. I got caught up in a cycle of YEARS of getting my permit, letting it expire and never taking the driver's test out fear. I went to 3 different driving schools before choosing City Driving. While all the others helped me, City Driving was definitely THE BEST of the bunch. I was able to pass my drivers exam thanks to the 'Driving Test' service they offer. Though the price I paid and the one reflected on the website are not the same, I payed close to $200 whereas on the website it says it cost $165, this service allowed me to have a car I could use during the driving exam and time to practice the potential routes I might be taken on. Also, when I went in person the staff there was very friendly, helpful and were able to assist me in making my appointment with the DMV. The reason I'm leaving 4 stars instead of 5 is because while I was driving during my scheduled session before my driving exam, my instructor was on their phone. At one point while driving they took a phone call to schedule an appointment with another potential client. Though I understand that it was a work related call, I didn't appreciate that I spent almost $200 for my session and the instructor was texting and answered the phone during our scheduled time. read more

I really recommend City driving school. I had two instructors and they were both really patient. Although I was get anxious because I would make the same mistake they were patient enough to keep guiding me with the correct steps. I felt comfortable after a while which is what I think really helped because I tend to get nervous. I also want to add that since they have control of the car also it made me feel safe in case if I missed doing anything while driving. I had just graduated college and I was in pursuit of my next big challenge: obtaining a driver's license. I had no driving experience, so passing the driver's license test seemed daunting. I checked out several driving schools in my area and I decided to give City Driving School a try. Off the bat, the staff were extremely helpful. They booked me an appointment to pick me up at my place in South LA, even though their offices are in Bell. Edward was a great teacher and constantly pointed out things I should look out for (changing lanes, checking my blind spots, parking, etc.). He focused the course on what I should expect during the driving test so I had a higher chance of passing. So it should be no surprise that after 3-4 lessons, I passed the test on the first try! I did not expect to obtain my license so quickly, so I'm extremely grateful to City Driving School. These lessons have honestly been one of the best investments I've ever made. Terrible customer service. I had an issue with my child's driving lesson and I called on Thursday to get clarification why I paid for two hours of driving lessons but only received 1 hour plus they had another student driver in the car. I was told a Clara would call me back, this was on a Thursday and today is Monday so I guess they are so busy they can't bother to return my call but not busy enough to charge full price for half classes. Update: my child completed his driving lessons and I would not recommend this driving school from my experience. It has been over a week since I called the school due to the issue of the first driving lesson I still have not received a return call. 1st lesson: Instructor arrived on time but had a second student driver in the car. Instructor took the other student back to her house before starting my child's driving lesson and it was during the time I had paid for my child. Instructor dropped off my child a few minutes early. So I paid for two hours of driving instruction but only received one hour. 2nd lesson: Instructor arrived 8 minutes late and dropped off 6 minutes early. No other issues. 3rd/final lesson: Received a phone call 11 minutes after the lesson should have started saying instructor was stuck at the dmv but would be there to pick up my child in 20 minutes. The instructor arrived an hour late. They did make up the hour of driving instructions but it is unprofessional to arrive to a scheduled lesson so late. My child was dropped off 8 minutes early. My child did like the instructor though and said he provided good driving tips. read more

I had an amazing experience with City Driving School. Edward was my instructor and he was great. I am a new driver, from a different country, and was quite honestly scared at driving at first. However, Edward understood where I was coming from and was extremely patient. He is an excellent communicator, explaining every detail (at my own pace) and helped me overcome the fear/ nervousness I had at the beginning of our lessons. Even though I didn't pass on my first test, Edward continued to support me by working on my opportunities and focused on the skills I needed to improve. My confidence and stress improved because of his approach to teaching and in the end, I passed my test. But it didn't stop there. Edward checked in on me after a month from passing my test, just to see how my driving progress was going. I'm 21 years old about to be 22 in November and I told myself I would never drive years ago, but I came to a reality check once I started a job MILES away from home. I have to take Uber daily, which is $20 a day. Almost $100 a week. I used Yelp to find a driving school immediately after I got my permit and found City Driving School, it was well worth my money. $300+ for 8 hours. Things I learned: Which lanes to turn in, STOPPING at a stop sign, turning more smoothly, yielding, and much more. Some stuff I already knew from previous training with my sister like accelerating and not pressing the breaks too hard. As well as common sense too... Wether you're turning 18 or 81, they WILL teach you right from wrong. I totally recommend. (Also, my driving test is on October 25th, so I'm still practicing on driving with family members until then and this review will be updated.) read more

The staff made me feel very uncomfortable and when I wanted to sign out they wouldn't let me so I had to put up with their extremely horrible attitude. They DO NOT care about making you feel welcomed they just care about the money. I didn't want to show up due to this but I had to if not I would be charged. I've been putting off getting my license for about 6 years now, so I finally decided that it was time to dedicate myself to getting it. I looked up driving schools in the area and City Driving School had really good reviews and what's included in their classes caught my attention right away. I contacted the school and they were very responsive and also were able to provide a payment plan option. I signed up for the package that has 6 classes and they scheduled me right away. My instructor Esperanza made me feel so calm and also helped me feel confident in my driving. I'm so thankful to her for all the times she made me practice entering and exiting from the DMV to make sure I learned how to do it correctly. She was very patient and always corrected my mistakes in a very nice and professional way. I enjoyed taking my classes with her. Thank you Esperanza for helping me get my license! Hi everyone here, I worked with Edward for my driving lessons and he is a very cool instructor. Sometimes I had to ask him to be strict to point out my mistakes. Well, his cool nature worked out well with me, because normally I get discouraged if someone is just pointing my mistakes in a stricter tone and that makes my driving worst further. (which used to happen with me when I was trying to learn with my husband lol:-)) Edward was exactly opposite. He told me positives in my driving and approach which encouraged me to improve my skills. The only thing I did not like is the Car was changed in the middle of my lessons and that made me little nervous, however I was happy the way Edward guided me on the points examiner looks for and he also made sure I am having enough practice on both the test routes. My mom is in her mid 50s and this was her first time driving. I purchased the 4-lessons pack and she took them in January and February. Due to the pandemic, her DMV exam was postponed.
