There was a slight hiccup from the first session but their Ops Manager, Mclean, handled it like an organizational pro and went above and beyond. It was smooth sailing from that point on. My daughter took a series of six classes. The experience was excellent. They have their own cars which they drive to your house. The car has an extra break pedal in the passenger seat to the instructor can intervene if necessary. We were surprised that my daughter didn't have single instructor for all of the lessons, but there were advantages to that, because it's good to get a variety of input. My wife and I were delighted not to have to do the teaching ourselves! read more

Frustrated with customer service. My 17 yo daughter had 6h of behind the wheel training. Following this she has failed 2 DMV tests within minutes for basic errors. Neither of her two instructors informed her or us that she was not prepared or needed more training. I called to see if they had any policy to help us in this situation. The representative at Primo by Coastline said they had no policy to help in this situation. I advised her that I would share this experience on-line (I never leave negative reviews without giving business a chance to remedy a problem) and she said sorry that she and management could do nothing to help. I really wanted to try something new and learn manual and I could not have picked a better place. I scheduled 3 driving lessons on different days and they were all worth it teaching me the best fundamentals. The best part of all they were so patient with me throughout the process. I had two separate teachers, I'm making this review a little late so I can't recall their names. It was a gentleman with long hair and another with short hair. Both very knowledgeable and passionate about driving manual cars. We had great conversations about the history of driving manual cars and laws to know. After always wanting to learn how to drive stick shift, I booked a 2 hour lesson at Primo Driving School. Ely, my instructor, was great. She was very polite, informative and always encouraging me throughout the lesson. The car was clean and looked to be in good condition. The car is painted/wrapped with the driving school name which was nice considering it allowed others on the road to know I'm new at stick shift. Last, the passenger side, where the instructor sits, has a set of pedals in case they have to take over while you're driving. Primo was recommended to us by several friends, and this driving school was indeed excellent! Very organized with scheduling, always on time, always confirmed in advance, and provided excellent instructors (my son had Andrew and Michael, both of whom were consistently friendly, calm, and patient). Andrew took my son to the DMV for his test, warmed him up with some practice beforehand, and offered some helpful last-minute tips, all of which gave him even more confidence going in. Andrew also easily negotiated the DMV logistics and made the whole process seamless so my son went in with zero stress. My 16-year-old was thrilled to pass the test on the first try, but as a parent, what I really value is Primo's emphasis on creating safe drivers, and I even learned a thing or two from my son as he was taking his lessons. Customer service highly lacking. Called to add lessons for my daughter and after I paid, they told me there were no lessons available for 2 months and I wasn't able to book anything beyond that without checking in every day to see when the lessons would open up. Due to the lack of availability, when I finally saw lessons open up on a Saturday, I booked one. Happened to be during a rainstorm but they would not let me reschedule the lesson without incurring the steep $100 cancellation fee. I understand that people need to learn to drive in the rain, but they need to learn how to drive without rain first. The whole process has just felt like money-grubbing to me without much concern for the customers and kids involved. read more

I have been taking lessons with Ely Magallon and she is the BEST!!! I have had my license for 15 years but haven't been driving on the freeways here in LA. I signed up for three lessons with Primo Driving School, and Ely has taught me so much in each lesson! She is extremely aware of everything happening on the road and answers all questions fully and thoroughly. When we are parked, she even takes the time to diagram different scenarios on a whiteboard, which is such a huge help. I thought it would take a while to gain more confidence in driving on the freeways, but because of Ely's guidance and teachings, I feel much more confident and prepared to drive safely and anticipate different scenarios. I prefer to drive on the freeways now, thanks to Ely, and I'm so grateful for all of her guidance. If you are in need of driving lessons, I can't recommend taking lessons from Ely enough! Primo is a GREAT driving school. 110% recommend to anyone that is learning to drive, wanting to take their road test, etc. Every lesson I had with them was extremely informative and helpful. I could choose which instructor I had and was able to get experience with various instructors and cars as well. They teach you everything, from 2 and 3 point turns, residential / commercial street driving, canyon driving, freeway driving, backing up parallel to the curb, parallel parking, etc. My instructors were great! I had Chris, Carlos, Ely, and Eddie. They were all extremely helpful and informative, and always was in a good, fun mood. I passed my road test at the Culver City DMV on the first try, and made ZERO mistakes. My examiner was extremely impressed with me and my driving, and the only thing the examiner commented on is to "keep driving safely because there are a lot of crazy drivers out there". I want to give a huge thank you to Michael Lao for being an amazing, patient, and knowledgeable instructor for stick shift driving. I booked a class to learn stick shift because I will be in Europe for three months and wanted to feel safe knowing that if needed I would be able to drive a manual transmission car there. I really liked the method of getting comfortable using the clutch and building on that to eventually being able to drive around Westwood. Michael is a wonderful instructor and is passionate about driving and teaching stick shift, and was really great about customizing the lesson to my style of learning and driving, and explained concepts really well by connecting them with other skills I already had. What an incredible experience I had with this place! I needed to take the test in California as I moved here from Europe and wanted to be fully prepared to make sure I knew all the rules. I took lessons with Kathy and Andrew and as well as their incredible knowledge and talent to teach, they were beyond patient and professional with me as I was stressed and frustrated at times. The staff on the phone were always incredible as I needed to call and make changes to lessons and rebook the test quite a few times (thanks to my job!!) and they were kind and understanding every single time.
