My daughter just completed her 6 hours of instructional driver's training with Primo. This was a great experience all around. There was a slight hiccup from the first session but their Ops Manager, Mclean, handled it like an organizational pro and went above and beyond. It was smooth sailing from that point on. Everything from the automated communication, dashboard, and progress report keeps my informed as a parent. I'd use Primo again (1 kid down, 3 to go). My daughter raved about her experience with instructor Dunbar Dradley Jr. His cool and calm demeanor and the way he teaches really made a mark. Thanks Primo! read more

I really wanted to try something new and learn manual and I could not have picked a better place. I scheduled 3 driving lessons on different days and they were all worth it teaching me the best fundamentals. The best part of all they were so patient with me throughout the process. I had two separate teachers, I'm making this review a little late so I can't recall their names. It was a gentleman with long hair and another with short hair. Both very knowledgeable and passionate about driving manual cars. We had great conversations about the history of driving manual cars and laws to know. I now have a GR Corolla, and would not have been able to drive off the lot without driving school here at Primo. read more

My daughter took a series of six classes. The experience was excellent. They have their own cars which they drive to your house. The car has an extra break pedal in the passenger seat to the instructor can intervene if necessary. We were surprised that my daughter didn't have single instructor for all of the lessons, but there were advantages to that, because it's good to get a variety of input. My wife and I were delighted not to have to do the teaching ourselves! read more

Frustrated with customer service. My 17 yo daughter had 6h of behind the wheel training. Following this she has failed 2 DMV tests within minutes for basic errors. Neither of her two instructors informed her or us that she was not prepared or needed more training. I called to see if they had any policy to help us in this situation. The representative at Primo by Coastline said they had no policy to help in this situation. I advised her that I would share this experience on-line (I never leave negative reviews without giving business a chance to remedy a problem) and she said sorry that she and management could do nothing to help. Buyer beware. read more

After always wanting to learn how to drive stick shift, I booked a 2 hour lesson at Primo Driving School. Ely, my instructor, was great. She was very polite, informative and always encouraging me throughout the lesson. The car was clean and looked to be in good condition. The car is painted/wrapped with the driving school name which was nice considering it allowed others on the road to know I'm new at stick shift. Last, the passenger side, where the instructor sits, has a set of pedals in case they have to take over while you're driving. I'd definitely recommend people wanting to learn stick shift to take a lesson with Ely at Primo. read more

I would like to say that everything positive you read about these guys is true. From communication to timeliness, everything was on point. Robert was my instructor for two lessons, and I could not have passed without him. I have prior experience driving, but the extra tips and confidence pushed me over the line, allowing me to pass first time with very minimal mistakes. I would highly recommend these guys if you're looking for a driving school. read more

Robert is the best instructor!!! Very patient, friendly and clear when giving instructions. I passed my driver test on first try in Santa Monica only after taking 3 driving lessons with Robert (and I'm a very new/ anxious driver :))! Highly recommend!! read more

Stick refresher lessons went great. Highly recommend fast and easy service. Andrew Soe was a blast to drive with.

I am on my 5th Driving lesson and preparing for my driving test. The driving sessions are quite knowledgeable and helpful. and all instructors are friendly. I personally recommend Davidson. I hired Primo Driving School to teach my daughter, Emma, how to become a safe and skillful driver. Emma was nervous before her first lesson, but when she got home, she smiled ear to ear. Her instructor, Sean Fitzgerald, instilled so much confidence in her and gave her great advice. She also learned a great deal from Ely Magallon. I noticed her improvement after each lesson and thank Primo Driving School for ensuring that she passed her test and is now a safe and happy licensed driver! read more

Primo was recommended to us by several friends, and this driving school was indeed excellent! Very organized with scheduling, always on time, always confirmed in advance, and provided excellent instructors (my son had Andrew and Michael, both of whom were consistently friendly, calm, and patient). Andrew took my son to the DMV for his test, warmed him up with some practice beforehand, and offered some helpful last-minute tips, all of which gave him even more confidence going in. Andrew also easily negotiated the DMV logistics and made the whole process seamless so my son went in with zero stress. My 16-year-old was thrilled to pass the test on the first try, but as a parent, what I really value is Primo's emphasis on creating safe drivers, and I even learned a thing or two from my son as he was taking his lessons. Thank you, Primo! read more

I passed my driver's test today first try after 6 lessons!! Shoutout to Robert for being the GOAT.

If ever you guys are wanting to ace the test book Primo. I also recommend Byron Chambers for teaching me all the skills and knowledge I needed to know to pass the driving test. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I started off very nervous and unsure about my ability to be a safe and confident driver. After 4 lessons with Sean Fitzgerald and 3 with Ely Magallon I successfully passed my driving test with only one mark! I cannot express how excellent these two instructors are. They taught me every trick in the book to help me become the driver I am today. Thank you Primo for hiring such wonderful employees! read more

Amazing driving school!!!! Had Robert who was incredible! Passed on first try at Santa Monica which no issues!!!! 100% recommend!!!!

Primo Driving School is an excellent driving school with a great reputation. They are very organized with scheduling, always on time, and provide friendly, calm, and patient instructors. Primo instructors are experts at helping new and not-so-new drivers become safe, comfortable, and confident drivers. Nervous students quickly become relaxed when coached by their reassuring instructors. My daughter went to Primo then went away to college for a couple of years with no car. Came back and needed a couple of refreshers. Easy-peasy. Now she's confidently on the road. I highly recommend Primo Driving school. read more

My 17 year old son passed his driving test first time with Primo driving school. The instructors are polite, attentive and are really adaptive to what exactly needs to be focused on to prepare you/them for your driving test. I love the fact that I got a graded assessment after each lesson and Mark, Dorothy and their team really do go above and beyond to offer excellent service. I would highly recommend for any new drivers in the LA area! read more

Great experience! The office staff is so patient, friendly and helpful! My daughter has only taken one of the three driving lessons we purchased, but it was great. Very calm, thorough instructor, who eased her nerves. Very impressed that the office staff texted to notify us the instructor was running 5 minutes late due to traffic. After the lesson, a detailed report of what was covered, as well as how well my daughter executed each skill was sent. Very helpful so we know what to practice with her. Their online portal makes booking/rescheduling lessons a breeze, but their in office team is so helpful if you'd rather call. A little more expensive than some of the other companies we researched, but so far their customer service and quality has been worth it. read more

Great school , great instructors and great experience! Very responsible and very well organized school! I was preparing for my driving test with Regis Mcnicholas. He was knowledgeable, patient and professional. He was very helpful, and focused on exactly what we needed, during our practice. I was able to build and improve my driving skill with this instructor. I passed my driving test and I am very happy with my results. Thank you Driving School and my Driving Instructor. Very satisfied! Highly recommending read more

All the instructors were super nice and informative. They were very helpful teachers and provided assurance when driving instead of stressing me out. The feedback system/website was also rlly easy to use and decipher. read more

Customer service highly lacking. Called to add lessons for my daughter and after I paid, they told me there were no lessons available for 2 months and I wasn't able to book anything beyond that without checking in every day to see when the lessons would open up. Due to the lack of availability, when I finally saw lessons open up on a Saturday, I booked one. Happened to be during a rainstorm but they would not let me reschedule the lesson without incurring the steep $100 cancellation fee. I understand that people need to learn to drive in the rain, but they need to learn how to drive without rain first. The whole process has just felt like money-grubbing to me without much concern for the customers and kids involved. read more

I have been taking lessons with Ely Magallon and she is the BEST!!! I have had my license for 15 years but haven't been driving on the freeways here in LA. I signed up for three lessons with Primo Driving School, and Ely has taught me so much in each lesson! She is extremely aware of everything happening on the road and answers all questions fully and thoroughly. When we are parked, she even takes the time to diagram different scenarios on a whiteboard, which is such a huge help. I thought it would take a while to gain more confidence in driving on the freeways, but because of Ely's guidance and teachings, I feel much more confident and prepared to drive safely and anticipate different scenarios. I prefer to drive on the freeways now, thanks to Ely, and I'm so grateful for all of her guidance. If you are in need of driving lessons, I can't recommend taking lessons from Ely enough! Thank you so much, Ely!!!! read more

Primo is a GREAT driving school. 110% recommend to anyone that is learning to drive, wanting to take their road test, etc. Every lesson I had with them was extremely informative and helpful. I could choose which instructor I had and was able to get experience with various instructors and cars as well. They teach you everything, from 2 and 3 point turns, residential / commercial street driving, canyon driving, freeway driving, backing up parallel to the curb, parallel parking, etc. My instructors were great! I had Chris, Carlos, Ely, and Eddie. They were all extremely helpful and informative, and always was in a good, fun mood. I passed my road test at the Culver City DMV on the first try, and made ZERO mistakes. My examiner was extremely impressed with me and my driving, and the only thing the examiner commented on is to "keep driving safely because there are a lot of crazy drivers out there". Was super happy I passed and made no mistakes. read more

I highly recommend Primo Driving School to anyone. My daughter got lessons from multiple instructors and all of them were really nice. I want to give a huge thank you to Michael Lao for being an amazing, patient, and knowledgeable instructor for stick shift driving. I booked a class to learn stick shift because I will be in Europe for three months and wanted to feel safe knowing that if needed I would be able to drive a manual transmission car there. I really liked the method of getting comfortable using the clutch and building on that to eventually being able to drive around Westwood. Michael is a wonderful instructor and is passionate about driving and teaching stick shift, and was really great about customizing the lesson to my style of learning and driving, and explained concepts really well by connecting them with other skills I already had. I highly recommend Primo for other drivers needing or wanting to learn how to drive stick shift and especially Michael. read more
