i would avoid as a new driver! if you get unlucky and get the really new instructor, he freaks out at whatever you do! he beefs with other cars (window down cursing, middle fingers, honking), and berated me for being distracted while he was acting all crazy. i left each class crying and super discouraged. i thought about not leaving a review because he just started out, but that behavior and environment is not only a danger to everyone in the car but other pedestrians and cars. unfortunately i wasted two lessons to give him a chance. my last lesson was with jorge (upon my request) and went good. he is very patient and kind. read more

Learning how to drive in your mid 30s can be daunting. I regretted not learning sooner and I knew I would need all the practice I could get. Royals Driving School is a great driving school. I had Jorge as my instructor and he was amazing. I already had an idea of how to drive and my permit going in so Jorge took me for one lesson to work on the smaller things that I needed help with and then he took me to the dmv and I passed my first try with him. He was also very funny and respectful as well, you can tell he loves his job and is relaxed but takes it seriously as well. When I would make a mistake he wouldn't make me feel bad about it, he would simply tell me what I did wrong, how I'm supposed to do it and to be more careful with that. My son took 10 hours of driving lessons total in a span of about 2 weeks ( with a break in between due to vacation) plus the driving test. He passed on his first attempt! Jonathan was his instructor. Leo was responsive to all communication. Their rates are highly competitive and reasonable. Gave me options for scheduling and they were prompt with all appointments. He found Joseph to be patient and helpful, offering numerous tips for driving on city streets and freeway traffic conditions, rather than just practicing in a parking lot like some driving schools do. Luis was a fantastic driving instructor! I have lived in LA for 10 years, never drove once until I sat down in Luis's car. I was terrified to start driving! Luis made me feel at ease. Absolutely TERRIBLE! Esther was out instructor. She was late every single time, she did not respond for over 1 month to schedule our 3rd session, then responded with "who are you"---- to the SAME thread used the entire time. I called the schools SEVERAL times, no response, no answer. She made my daughter feel small and insignificant the way she acknowledged her mistakes, Wich is not ok, when you are teaching someone to drive on the road, you help them and make them feel empowered! Ive driven with my daughter plenty, she's not terrible, a little scary, as we all feel, but Esther was TERRIBLE, for communicating and helping. While it's the cheapest, save your money, it's that way for a reason. read more
