There are better places than here.Not very good for beginners, I've never rode in my life and I ended up riding quite well with due regard, but still failed a test because I didn't exaggerate snapping my neck like mortal kombat. There were other worst, slow and unsafe riders who passed. Also you will get dehydrated and no time to eat a lunch. Also one of the female instructors had a nasty attitude for anyone making little mistakes for someone never riding in their life. I passed the M1 DMV test myself just fine. Onsite EMTC course training instructor Kevin knew his stuff, communicated effectively, gave positive reinforcement and feedback when making mistakes. This was my first time taking a riders course, and they included all the fundamentals necessary to start riding safety on the street. They include an online classroom to review and test your knowledge on every aspect of riding a motorcycle in every type of environment. The riding portion of the classroom at the Long Beach Water Department was a great course led by trained professionals who are excellent at explaining and helping us practice the funtimentals of the controls and handling of a motorcycle. They gave us plenty of time to learning adjustment to different scenarios of riding a motorcycle with clear communication and feedback. They were kind enough and patient with our learning curve and helping us practice riding a motorcycle until we were confident riding. Getting into motorcycles can be intimidating but I was really fortunate enough to have been recommended the Clutch Motorcycle course. I had never ridden on a motorcycle, and never even held a motorcycle helmet, but the instructors walked us through the how D-rings work and step-by-step how to eventually ride a motorcycle. I was so nervous Day 1 and was counseled out 2 hours into the session and was so thankful they were able to recognize that I needed extra training. At first I signed up for this class to assist me in getting my license, but I came out of it a much better rider and I'm really glad I went through this experience. While I already felt comfortable riding my bike, this helped me get experienced in some safety skills that I will see out in the real world. Being able to practice swerving, quick braking, and leaning while in a safe and controlled environment with incredibly helpful. I don't think I would have practiced these things without taking this class which could end up being extremely dangerous. I recommend people to take this class even if you already have your license. It's worth it. Plus, the instructors were amazing. Jennifer: Being a safe driving instructor myself, I was very very impressed by Jennifer. She has a loud and booming voice to make sure people listen, and also encourage people to do better at the same time. She had a great personality and some jokes here and there which made learning these skills a good time. She has such a pure personality and really puts her heart into her training. Brian: A good attitude and a good smile. Will make the experience a fun time, giving great tips and feedback while also getting serious if it's needed. Just finished my beginner course this morning and ran to give Clutch a glowing review. If you are a beginner, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!! It seems very daunting at first, but they will walk you through every step of the way and make sure you are proficient at each and every skill. The instructors may seem very firm at first, but they are only looking out for you and your safety and will ease up a bit as the course goes on and you become more familiar with the bike. I had Aaron and Liz and they were both exceptional instructors. Liz was very encouraging and made sure to give helpful tips if you were struggling with something specific. Aaron was very direct and would quickly point out which of your skills needed work, which I appreciated as someone with no motorcycle experience. Definitely do not expect to be perfect by the end of this course, you will make a lot of mistakes. But the knowledge and skills they teach you here are priceless. I finally decided to learn how to ride a motorcycle, but have zero experience. A friend of mine recommended this course. The online classroom portion is a bit long and tedious, but it is a necessary portion to learn fundamentals and theory before being able to experience and learn application when on site. I was fortunate enough to be taught by Tony and Jennifer. As previously mentioned I have zero experience, and I wasn't grasping the concepts well. However, thankfully, to Tony and Jennifer and their constant reassurance, tentative pointers, and patience, I was able to learn and catch up to speed with the rest of my classmates. The class is accelerated, so I empathize if it feels overwhelming, but it is a safe space to ask for help. I'm not yet ready for the road, and still need to take my license, but I feel more confident after being given guidance and instilled fundamentals by the instructors, as well as the help of my fellow classmates. Tony and Jennifer also mentioned that every first Saturday of the month, there is a women's project which is comprised of a women's only class to help empower and educate women to further their riding knowledge, however, I recommend to doublecheck by calling their facility to confirm this class and what day it is held. Just finished my 2 day course with clutch and I have nothing but great things to say about them. Started off with an online course that was a little overwhelming as I'm not a good test taker but we were able to learn skills on the range in a weekend. Had the pleasure to work with Carl and Aaron the first day and the second day we worked with Brian and Tesi. In the two days in the range it has made me more confident as a rider as every skill they taught us helped so much because of the feedback and tips they gave me. It was scary too as going into something where you don't know anyone but it was nice that my class was super welcoming as well. My one bit of feedback is that there were slightly too many motorcycles on the course. I signed up for the course because I bought a motorcycle and didn't know how to ride it. I tried to learn from a friend but it was proving to be ineffective due to our busy schedules and I didn't want to keep trial and erroring on my own. I also didn't want to keep damaging my new motorcycle further or getting myself injured from repeatedly falling. I was able to take the online course on my own time so I didn't have time to sit in a classroom and then carve out minimal amount of time to dedicate to just learning how to physically ride. I am glad I chose them because they had a lot of time offerings and I needed weekday afternoons which they were probably the only ones that had this. The class size was small so speed and pace went well and everyone had their questions answered. Both instructors Aaron and Jennifer were very professional and treated everyone the same. Some of us had some skills we needed help on and Jennifer allowed us to do a quick 1 on 1 session to understand it better without slowing down the rest of the class. Overall, it would have been nice to have more practice time on the skills before the final evaluation, especially for someone with no experience at all, but I think that it is just the curriculum and timing constraints and not something they could work around. Overall, the course was challenging for someone with no experience at all but if you came in with at least some understanding of how to operate a motorcycle, you will learn how to better perfect those skills. I also loved that they had nice current model motorcycles to learn on, not some old beat up ones I was expecting. read more
