Too many good looking choices on the menu and settled for a Cajun pasta special that was more than I could eat. Sat at the bar and service was excellent. Prices are reasonable and the place had an upbeat vibe for being a random Tuesday during July when most IU students are home for the summer. Overall - Fabulous dining experience !!

It's Sunday morning in downtown Bloomington. Busy happens. What followed was not "busy." It was astonishingly poor service and even worse problem-solving. My wife and daughters ordered, and then we waited. After AN HOUR, my wife went inside to ask what was happening. She was told, "Sorry, the IU basketball team is here. Let me see what happened." Apparently the arrival of the IU basketball team creates some kind of breakfast singularity in which ordinary customers cease to exist. The employee said they would check. They never came back. Another 45 minutes passed. So after ONE HOUR AND FORTY-FIVE MINUTES, my wife and daughter -- both of whom had been loyal Inkwell customers -- were left feeling like they simply did not matter because more important people had walked through the door. That is what makes this experience so disappointing. Restaurants get busy. Orders get lost. Mistakes happen. But when you discover that a family has been waiting an hour, tell them you will investigate, disappear for another 45 minutes, and then offer essentially no apology, urgency, ownership, or attempt to make things right, that is not a kitchen problem. That is a customer-service problem. Eventually they agreed to refund us. So the single star is awarded because Inkwell did, in fact, return our money after failing to provide breakfast and did not lock the doors to prevent our escape. Cherish it.

This restaurant and everyone in this establishment should be ashamed of themselves. I don't care what type of you're having or power trip your on, NO ONE gets to dictate what I spend MY money on. On my way into the restaurant this morning, there was a gentleman standing outside, minding his own business, not speaking to anyone that didn't speak to him, wasn't causing a scene, nothing. When the waitress came to take our order, I requested a to go drink and a to go biscuits and gravy. She then asks me if it's for the man outside and I confirm. This woman proceeds to storm out the restaurant verbally degrade this gentleman. And if she wasn't on enough of an ego trip, she picks up the phone and calls 911 on this woman. I then watch her walk to the kitchen and make it known to the staff, as they ALL laugh. I will never reward such disgusting and horrible behavior as such. My entire table got up, told her to cancel our drinks, we won't be giving her or an establish who's acts this way any money. The audacity to act as if we had offended her was comical! Regardless of what ANYONE is going through, nothing is worst than having absolutely nothing. No harm was caused by us feeding a man in need. Nutrition is a lifeline and regardless of situations, to bluntly make it known to the entire restaurant as well, this woman should be fired. Have a kind heart, do better!!! You never know when you'll be down on your luck and someone / ANYONE offering to do a harmless and selfless act, no matter where it's happening, should NOT be disrespected. Do better Cloverleaf, that was the most disgraceful and distasteful act a human can do, to someone down on their luck!!! I might add as a suggestion too for your "family owned company" why not add some empathy and benevolent and consider giving the man a job for a start. I'm sure he'd be happy just to clean tables for a start. Be the difference that CAN make a difference in someone's life!!! read more

A fantastic spot for a good old fashion diner breakfast. Coffee and "Meat choice #3". Sometimes I add a french toast to fix a sweet tooth. Simple, fast service, big menu and they keep the coffee topped off. Both locations are great and have always had good, speedy service even when its busy as all get out. The east side location is smaller and less busy generally. Always a good start to the day with this place. read more

Great little family owned restaurant. I love all the options they have on their menu and how friendly everyone always is when we go in. Whenever I go in I usually have my usual meal, but I love when they have the daily specials written on the boards around the restaurant that help me to branch out and try something new. This place is very welcoming. The staff is incredibly nice, friendly, and it makes you feel right at home. When you first get there the wait is not long. You come in and sit down you order your food it's out in seconds hot and very delicious. You will not be disappointed.
