The whole menu was old time comfort food, and the preparation did not disappoint. Five of us went for Saturday breakfast/lunch and everyone left full and happy. Although they weren't real busy, we didn't have to wait for anything, refills were delivered before we ran out, condiments were brought to the table immediately after being requested, and when we finished we weren't left waiting for our check so we could head out. The restaurant was decorated with historical signage from Bedford that was very enjoyable to view, and the cashier was located in a small gift shop. It's in a place called "the terminal" which is like a trucking hub so you may think (as I did) your GPS has led you astray. It's a got a pretty basic simple menu, not a lot of crazy things. This is a good thing as I think they're able to really focus on and dial in on what they do. The inside is decorated with lots of bits of Americana and old timey gas station signs and the like. There are many many aprons hung around the place as decoration as well. Right as you walk in there's a big WALL OF MUGS and you grab a coffee mug off of there to bring to the table if you'll be having coffee. They are all different and a majority of them today were Christmas themed as today is Christmas Eve. They do a good job of keeping your coffee cup topped off. I ordered biscuits and gravy, 2 eggs over easy, and sourdough toast. Everything was very good and the gravy was nicely seasoned which is often lacking at restaurants (IMHO). read more

Wish I could tell you about the food, but we never got served after waiting over 15 minutes for a waitress. There was a waitress that NOTICED us but never even took our drink order or acknowledged us. It was very crowded in there and very loud. The menu is incredibly limited and the prices seem quite high for the area and atmosphere. We were going to get taco salads if we were able to order, as the only other lunch offerings were basically soup and tuna/chicken salad sandwiches. Their breakfast may be good, but I doubt we'll ever find out. I tried breakfast at the Apron Strings for the first time this year, when a friend asked me to take him there. Although the restaurant is somewhat off the beaten path, the food is well worth it. Apron Strings has the usual breakfast fare of eggs, pancakes, bacon and sausage, has browns, biscuits & gravy, etc.. The space inside the restaurant is large and spacious, and the ambiance is that of a down-home diner: warm and welcoming. It sometimes takes the wait staff awhile to get to you, but be patient--the food is worth the wait, and it's a pleasant place to spend some time. The restaurant closes when breakfast has ended, so don't show up and demand food when they are closing up for the day! read more

Great prices and a very pleasant atmosphere. The biscuits and gravy were satisfying with plenty of gravy. I also had delicious cinnamon stuffed French toast. Still hungry I ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich. The bread was fresh and warm. They offer several bread choices some baked on site. She had an omelette. My only complaint is that the eggs were not made with much skill. My scrambled on the sandwich was just plain fried and her omelette wasn't very blended either and had very little cheese. First time here and trying it because of it's rating and others telling me that it was good food. So I went at 10:00 on Saturday and it was pretty packed. A couple offered to share their table with me, but I decided to wait and there were plenty of people leaving so it was not too much of a wait. The cafe is pretty small and they did have outdoor dining as an option. The wait staff is pretty young but they were keeping busy trying to keep up with the crowd. It just seemed a little bit unorganized. I ordered the breakfast skillet with sausage. Overall it was OK - not great, not bad either. Good size portion. The sausage gravy was a little bland for me. The price was extremely affordable. Less than $10 for the meal which you will be hard-pressed to find anywhere these days. And the food came out pretty quick which was good. Would I eat here again? Yeah, probably would give it another try. They are busy for a reason so will likely try them again in the future. read more

Ordered a cheese, ham and sausage omelette, limp bacon, well done hash browns and toast. The waitress brought a ham omelette (I seen no cheese and definitely no sausage), lightly cooked hash browns, well done bacon and 1 piece of toast. (I ordered 2 slices; 1 slice came with the omelette and it was $0.95 for the second slice of bread). I told the waitress of the goof ups and she wouldn't take my plate to fix my food BUT she brought me a cup of cold shredded cheese to put in my omelette (yum). Another waitress stopped by, I again told of the goof ups, she took my plate (plus the other persons plate I was with... her plate was just as messed up) and brought back our food correctly cooked except for the bacon. It was still hard. When asked about it, the lady proceeded to tell us that they fry their bacon all at once in the early mornings and the bacon we got, was the limpest they had left. (This was around 10:30 am). Our drinks ran out and I had to flag down another girl to refill our tea. Where our original waitress went? We never seen her again past the time we ordered. Needless to say, we won't be returning anytime soon. When you pay THAT much for breakfast food (25$ for two people) you expect the food to be freshly cooked and get decent service.
