I thought I had reviewed this place before, but maybe I didn't. Maybe I included it in the review for the hotel. When I first started going to this bar, the staff was really warm and welcoming. Over the next few stays, they became much less friendly and inviting and seemed put off to be serving me at all. I find this trend has continued, years later. The bartender acted absolutely bored and put off by serving me. Drinks are fine, nothing too special, especially at 23 bucks a pop, and you're really there for the views anyway, which are great. Direct line of sight to the Empire State Building. I will say I agree with some of the other reviews that said they were turned away by the highlight room down the street at Moxy, that totally tracks, and despite service not being perfect, you're more likely to have a laid back, relaxed time at cloudM. read more

Pretty cool and chill vibes as its mostly hotel guest. Nice if u want to get a drink and chill, not like a pregame party place (also account for winter mode). The outside patio is beautiful but the view will be quickly obstructed by construction. They have a delicious beer ipa that distinctly taste like mango and isn't bitter. Nice lighting/decor, spacious area, casual service - kind of self serve. The drinks and food are okay, not something I'd go to here for. But the service is nice and people casual. Okay my friend and I came here after being turned away at the Highlight Room up the block. So glad we were turned away. Cloud M was welcoming to ALL. It is a very spacious rooftop in a hotel. The inside roof had super high ceiling and windows floor to ceiling. Comfortable couches in here, and a beautiful marble bar with plenty of seating. The outdoor space is also very spacious with lots of different seating arrangements. They have an in house cocktail menu which I chose to get, sex and the city which was a twist on a cosmopolitan- very nice taste not too sweet or tart, perfect for vodka girlies. This is a beautiful bar with beautiful views. However, both times I've been here service left something to be desired. During my most recent visit, I arrived just a few minutes after they opened so I was the only guest. I was told I could sit anywhere, so I went outside on the patio. However, no one told me there were no servers so I politely sat outside for awhile patiently looking around and waiting. Eventually I came back inside and ordered a glass of sparkling wine at the bar. The bartenders spent some time joking around before getting around to it and then poured me a glass and handed me the credit card machine. It was fine but the whole thing was fully transactional. Additionally, my sparkling wine was a little flat and warm. While it was nice to sit outside and enjoy the views, I couldn't quite enjoy the drink and ended up leaving half of it. Their menu has a variety of cocktails, other alcoholic beverages, and only some small bar bites. You order at the bar, pay there, and also grab your drink from there. Service was a bit slow for us. I didn't feel like drinking so I only got a mocktail, and although it was good, I wish they had more mocktail options here. I saw the beautiful sunset with the NYC view. It was stunning and magical and it makes you forget for a second how crazy the outside world is and just live in the moment enjoying your cocktail drink. I ordered a cocktail drink it was pink and cute. I was on a date so I didn't take a picture of my drink but the drink was incredibly tasty under the summer heat. Great rooftop for dates, hanging out with friends, and weekend drinks. Cute rooftop with ambiance music, you do have to check in and let the hotel host know you are visiting the hotel for the rooftop. 10/10 rooftop bar experience with delicious food options in the surrounding area. So you can always have a drink here and eat elsewhere. They do have bar bites available at the rooftop bar but if you are interested in food elsewhere this rooftop bar is conveniently located nearby a ton of great eats. read more

My friends and I were greeted warmly (by staff in the hotel lobby) and escorted to the elevator to go up to the bar. The atmosphere was upscale cozy with a variety of seating options, and the cocktail menu seemed well thought-out. However, I thought they lacked depth in taste and my friend commented on how her drink did not have a salt rim like in the description and contained egg white even though the description didn't list it as an ingredient (luckily, she wasn't allergic). Arrived at 5pm on a Sunday, originally just looking for the Museum of Street Art. Unless you are a guest of the hotel, you need to ask the front desk at the Citizen M for the elevator pass to the 20th floor. We were welcomed by the hostess who asked us to join for a drink and to walk around the space. The friendly staff also told us to "check out the views from the bathroom" which seemed odd at first, but as I walked into the handicapped bathroom I found a floor to ceiling view of downtown Manhattan covered in a rose-tinted hue. Needless to say this place is full of magical surprises if you know what to look for. As we walked around the side of the bar I spotted two pieces by Kusama and an adorable balloon animal by Koons. The star of the room is a leopard statue covered in a mirror mosaic. I don't know the artist, but I loved this view as the sun was setting. The Cloud has ample indoor and outdoor space. We we're comfortable as a party of 4 in the lounge and taking photos of the skyline. The bartender greeted us and accommodated our requests as we giggled as the cocktail names like "Everyday Struggle." At $16-$18 a drink, we expected quality and got it! If we hadn't recently eaten we probably would have stayed for a bite. The food looked delicious passing by. By 6:30 we made our way over to the door was to start our decent down 20 flights and into the Museum of Street Art. This experience truly is a love letter to the Bowery. read more

I was a little worried about how this place was going to be after seeing a lot of negative and average reviews but I'm glad my friend and I decided to make reservations and give this place a try. Super cute hotel with beautiful artwork and interiors. The views from the rooftop were also amazing. They have both an indoor area where you can get table service and a more chill outdoor rooftop area where you can order from the bar and do self service. Once we arrived we told the person at the front desk at the Citizen's hotel that we had reservations for the rooftop and he checked our reservation and took us up the elevator to the rooftop. Highly recommend making reservations in the weekends because you will be able to just walk-in. Once we got to the rooftop we decided to sit indoors and get table service. My friend and I ordered the shrimp shumai, chicken and cabbage dumplings, and the egg fried rice. The fried rice was really good. The dumplings were a bit underwhelming. For drinks we ordered the Mango mojito and their tiki drink which was delicious. We also later ordered an Aperol spritz which was also great. Overall, enjoyed the classy ambience, chill vibes, views from the rooftop, and the friendly staff. I will definitely be coming back here soon! read more

The word is that this place is often packed so making reservations is highly recommended, but we got lucky and were able to snag a table despite being a walk-in party of 3. The interior is upscale and sleek, and vibe here is very lowkey such that we were able to talk comfortably while we were there. The drinks were great albeit a tad expensive, but that's to be expected. I don't remember the specific names, but I got their dragonfruit cocktail and it was delicious and not too strong. I had a taste of my friends' pea tea and espresso cocktails which were solid as well. The highlight here though is definitely the vantage point you get of the city. The best view is of course in the terrace, but unfortunately they don't have heaters so we mostly stayed indoors. They basically have a 360 degree view though, so the views were great by our seats as well, and even the bathrooms. read more

We were looking for a rooftop bar to check off on our NYC trip to do list.. A lot of the bars we had researched were more expensive and didn't have great views as a result of being in the center of everything where taller surrounding buildings obstruct the views. We happened to be dining nearby and found this place. Getting in was a bit strange because as someone coming off the street, you have to make a reservation for the bar even if they have space--it's all a part of the hotel's system as they have to make sure the actual hotel guests get first dibs. The whole place, including the lobby, is decorated in a rocker-glam-eclectic style--very cool and unique. The views were, as everyone else mentioned, excellent, with 270" outdoor views and the other 90 degrees covered via floor to ceiling windows inside. Their drink list is very creative and, if you take the stairs down to view the street art museum on display in the stairwell, you'll find the inspirations for the concoctions. My friend's dill pickle drink was actually really good, while my espresso drink was just okay. My one big gripe is that their music is a bit loud and it was sometimes hard to have a conversation even from across a small table. Speaking of the art, I do think it is well worth the hike down as long as you have good shoes and no knee problems. Be warned, it is 21 flights down on concrete and you have no option of hopping on an elevator halfway down. At the bottom though there are some chalkboard walls to make your own mark on this world (at least until someone erases it). read more

The drink menu was a bit limited, but the cocktails we ordered were excellent. The drink I ordered contained some sort of tea and changed color when the tea was poured in! It was yummy and just strong enough. As a downside, I do wish there were more food and snack options. There were about 3 options on the menu and none were vegetarian. I came here at night with my friends, and this is by far one of the best rooftops I've been to. I have never ordered any more than one drink at a rooftop before, but here I ordered three cocktails! They were all so delicious!!! The service was great, and the ambiance is gorgeous. I absolutely love the outdoor seating variety, from couches, to bench style tables, to round tables. There is also plenty of comfortable indoor seating. The nyc views are immaculate. The cocktail prices aren't too crazy (you can get a certain cocktails for $15, which isn't bad for nyc). None of the cocktails I had were too bitter, too strong, or too sweet. They were all so refreshing, and my friends and I had a great time! I've been here multiple times when I stayed at the hotel (it's much easier getting up there as a hotel guest), but when I came back another time not as a hotel guest, the front desk gave me a hard time about going upstairs even though my friends had a reservation and table.
