The cold day called for a hot pick-me-up, but the mobile order I placed was set out in a cubby to be chilled by the cold outside air. I didn't receive a notification that the order was ready, so it sat there for who knows how long. I'm not a regular here so I didn't know that's where to find my order. To add to the bummer, the vanilla donut I ordered was subbed for a raspberry glazed chocolate donut. Oh my word. Let me start by stating an opinion of mine: most flavored lattes are just fine. They are often too sweet for me, too synthetic, and the flavors often don't (to me) play well with the natural notes of coffee. It usually feels like it's masking it. Now for a fact: cloud city's black sesame latte is a flavored latte that compliments coffee, adds to its richness and is so so absolutely decadent. It's flavorful and creamy and I could probably drink one every day. The texture is fun, and you get such a big hit of sesame. Thanks for creating a flavored coffee drink just suited to my taste! Pleasant, popular, welcoming local coffee shop and deli with sharp, attentive service and pretty good drinks and food. Traveling through town our group of six stopped by on a busy Sunday morning and had bagels with cream cheese, breakfast sandwiches (egg, cheddar, choice of sausage or bacon), coffee, a mocha, smoothies. Despite the crowd the items in our order were ready fairly quickly, and everyone was satisfied with their food. We were quickly back on the road and appreciated the staff's care with our order. Let me speak for the coffee - GET THE BLACK SESAME LATTE. The experience when using the Joe mobile ordering app was a little hit and miss. The coffees were ready far later than the app promised. The app said they were out of Oat milk and made me choose almond, but when I got to the shop to get my latte they said they no longer served almond milk and only had oat.... One of the drinks I ordered comes with Oat milk but the app still gave me the option to change the milk to Oat for an additional $1....It was kind of a mess. But perhaps that's just because the app just went through an update? In any case, the black sesame latte was fabulous. Not too sweet. Interesting flavor. Both drinks could have came out warmer, so I might make the leap to ordering them extra hot next time...they were kind of lukewarm at best. But TASTY. Cute little neighborhood cafe, they have lots of interesting drink options and cafe fare- I met up with a friend on a Saturday to get coffee and walk at the nearby Maple Leaf Park. I got a Golden Milk latte and a piece of their lemon poppyseed coffeecake. The drink was good and they gave me a generous slice of coffeecake, but it was super dry lol I think it had been in the case for a long time. It's entirely outdoor seating so dress for the weather- they have a semi enclosed area where you can wait for your order to come out, but mind the strips of plastic they have in the entrance as a wind break because they're heavier than they look and almost slapped our coffees out our hands lol read more

In the showcase there were a variety of pastry/ baked goods and the menu carried a variety of sandwiches (which smelled amazing, but I didn't try). I quickly ordered their maple leaf latte (iced) as there wasn't anyone in line in front of me. I stepped outside to the sidewalk and noticed 3-4 people waiting as well. I just have to say Amazing! Bliss inducing coconut bread! Stopped in off I5 very early this morning after quick check for good coffee as we drove south (we don't do Starbucks, etc.) Your café was warm and inviting, staff friendly and made quick work of our order, 2 coffees, a breakfast sandwich and coconut bread of which I'm left wanting more of. It was delicate, moist, not to sweet and filled with chewy coconut and crunchy walnuts. Probably a good thing I live 2+ hours away. The busyness, noise level, and lack of easy parking are the only bummers about this place. First they messed up our order and then she said I will remake it. They then put us in as a regular order and we had to wait for all the other people ahead of us before we got our order. Customer service is important. We waited double the time for a mistake they made. Also when I asked if she knew when our order was coming the girl at the front acted slightly annoyed. They will need to step up the customer service if they don't want people to go to the new bakery right up the street. Their breakfast sandwich was great as usual, but I tried their new caramel apple bread and it simply was not good. So dry, and no caramel or apple flavors. I remembered a better Cloud City from years ago, but times do change. Or perhaps it was an off day. Stopped in for an afternoon coffee and snack. Their Specials board was full of intriguing sounding beverages, and I went with the Black Sesame Latte (back by popular demand!) and a piece of sundried tomato parmesan quiche. My husband ordered a matcha mocha-type drink and a cookie. He devoured his cookie and the rest of my quiche which I found very bland. Personally, I prefer a flakier quiche crust (and more flavor!). I would not order the quiche again. The matcha was much sweeter than expected, but I really liked the flavor of the black sesame latte. Both beverages were very chalky. Not sure if this is normal? It seemed like maybe they hadn't been mixed properly. Did not find chewing coffee to be very enjoyable, and I discarded my last sip as a choking hazard. Service was friendly. Lots of tables both inside and out (covered!). They also offer a lunch menu with a variety of sandwiches. I've gone to this place for years but they've gotten lazy with orders & getting things wrong. Several times I've ordered/paid for a whole sandwich and was only given half. I've let this go on multiple occasions but this morning was hands down the worst experience and I will not be coming back here. I ordered a breakfast sandwich on a croissant with egg, cheese, & avocado. I was given a croissant that was falling apart in the bag, unmelted cheese slices, and no egg. When I asked for it to be re-made, I was offered a refund but no consolation for having my order messed up or any attempt to re-make it. I would honestly save yourself the time of coming here. At best you're waiting 15 minutes in a to-go line for something that may or may not be the correct order and no attempts from the staff to fix their mistake. read more

It's nestled in neighborhood off of Roosevelt Way in North Seattle. They have their own blend of coffee beans they sell along with breakfast sandwiches, pies, pastries and various quiches. The drinks at Cloud City are solid across the board. In particular, they have one of my favorite chai lattes in the city (aside from Cafe Floret at Sea-Tac, but it looks like I won't be there for a while because of the pandemic). They also have a drink in the autumn called the Chaider--a nice mix of chai and apple cider that is delicious and unique. Right now they are running to go orders out of the side of the cafe with a limited menu, but they do still have their famous coconut bread, which at first seems dry, but actually tastes moist with great and not-too-sweet coconut flavor. The boy and I are SO excited to finally have a good coffee shop within walking distance to us. We had just moved into the area over the weekend and with our lack of organization/unpacking, we literally had nothing to cook with. In our haze of sleepiness and hunger, we walked over to Cloud City in the morning for some food and caffeine. It was busy and packed with people. They have a cute outdoor seating area too. Limited parking in their lot, but with the neighborhoods around, it's not too bad especially within a couple of blocks. They have a lot of food options! And they all looked good. Quiches, Breakfast sandwiches, regular lunch sandwiches, and a ton of baked goods (muffins, donuts, cookies, pie, etc). The cashier wasn't that friendly, but it won't deter us from coming back. We got two breakfast sandwiches (#2: Sausage, cheese, and egg), a toasted everything bagel with cream cheese, a 16 oz coffee, and a small london fog. I was tempted to order a donut/banana bread/about a billion other things as well. The London Fog came out pretty quickly (regular coffee was self service). The food came out a little later. I liked that they wrapped them in aluminium to keep it all warm. We walked back the 6ish blocks to our place to eat. The food was really good. I loved the sausage, it was very flavorful. The sandwich altogether was delicious. The everything bagel was tasty. They load up that thing with cream cheese too! I kept stealing bites of it from my boyfriend, who was doublefisting the bagel as well as a breakfast sandwich. My London Fog was done well! It was piping hot, creamy, and had the perfect hint of sweetness to it. We have already been back to try some of their baked goods as well. The blackberry lime pie was a bit too tart and could have used some more sugar in my opinion (unless tartness is your thing!) and the Mexican chocolate bread pudding which I really enjoyed. I smell like I work in the kitchen all day..... Very busy close to noon time when I visited the first time. Older building and interior, definitely a neighborhood hangout place. I can see that most patrons are local. Food offerings seems good, but I tried regular drip coffee that's stored in thermo dispenser, disappointed that it tasted Watery and acidic, both medium roast and the dark. Not good. Most of all, I can't stand the smoky greasy smell that's clouded the whole place that's taking over my clothes.... I'm gonna smell like I worked in a kitchen all day!!! Used to come to this place all the time, for years and years. Now, it's become a machine; a cold place where they pump out drinks and won't even make eye contact. Good coffee and food but a brutal lack of kindness. I recently brought in a couple of my students who had written letters to Cloud City (students from my class wrote letters to all of the businesses in Maple Leaf as we were learning about our community and how it functions). We walked all the way there and the two students bravely handed their letters over the counter, only to have the staff member take them out of their hands, say 'okay' and then turn around and walk away. I'm addicted to their matcha lattes (not sweet, real matcha, choose-your-own-milk), but I'm told on good authority (my "what's that tea thing?" coffee loving husband) that the coffee is also good. Their breakfast sandwich game is on point (I had egg and cheese with avocado on bagel), plus they have great lunch sammies and rotating quiches. But hold the presses...today I tried one of their in-house vegan cake donuts. Every time I have donuts I regret it. The grease, the feeling of shame at having wasted perfectly good calories on an ill thought-out whim...the reality of most donuts just doesn't live up to (my) expectation. But not here. Just in case this is ambiguous to any reader: THESE ARE REALLY FREAKING GOOD DONUTS. I have never had donuts like these. Perhaps purists would not call them donuts.
