It was another great visit to the Cloud Bar. The staff here is always so friendly! We got some hard ciders, and watched the sun set over the river. We tried the burgers and they were delicious. We both had the gluten free buns, one was soft and fresh, the other was dense and crumbled away. The server fixed it for us (service here is always good for us, thank you!) and we really enjoyed the whole meal and experience! Great service, great food, great location! read more

Very comfortable place for lunch on a very hot afternoon. The breeze off the river was amazing! Our server was very helpful and we were pleased with the variety of options from the menu. I had fish and chips which normally comes with tots, but I requested fries and they were very happy to exchange them. Three good size pieces of cod came with this and plenty of thin perfectly fried french fries. The tartar sauce was delicious. It also came with a small side of coleslaw, which was rather tasteless. My companion had the chicken bahn mi sandwich and thought it was delicious, even though she did remove most of the generous amount of jalapeño slices. They have a decent kids meal menu. Stopped in for a drink after having dinner in the lounge downstairs. Service was about the same as it was in the restaurant. Server was just doing her job. Not friendly or welcoming at all. She said the most to us when she handed us the bill. The drink were really good. I had the Painkiller. It was so good with the coconut cream on top. My husband ordered a Mai Tai. Boy was it strong. He loved it! I had a sip and the bartender definitely didn't skimp on the alcohol. It was raining so we couldn't sit outside. Love that they have sails out there for shade now. Such a cool addition. I wouldn't have been able to sit out there without some shade. Maybe next time. Overall a good experience. The establishment is clean and has a cool vibe. We just wish the service was more welcoming. When I spent my birthday up in Longview, I met my good friend John in Kalama for a late lunch at McMinnemen's and we opted for the cozy Cloud Bar on the fourth floor with the fantastic view of the Columbia River as our dining location. It was quiet, and comfortable, with a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for catching up after not having seen him for about five years. Now, our waitress was pretty Johnny on the spot with the drink suggestions and menus. It was my birthday so I indulged in an IPA, which I can't remember the name of. While the menu items in The Cloud Bar are limited, I went with the bacon cheeseburger. The kitchen was clearly busy, as it took a while to prepare our food, but it didn't even matter, it left more time for catching up. After a while, our food arrived, and I asked for some A1 for my burger, because that's what I was in the mood for. The burger was easily one of the best I've had in a long while, juicy, well seasoned, and far better than a few of the recent burgers I've had, the fries were crisp and tasty, but nothing special next to that burger. It was the star of the show! After we consumed the food, we went out in the rain and admired the view. There is a saying in Washington that says "If you don't do it in the rain, you're not going to do it", which in my experience is absolutely true. We headed back inside and John told me about the secret rooms, which we went looking for, and found. Then we went and played some shuffleboard, which I was the champion of that night. I've been to this location twice, and it has been a fantastic experience both times. And odds are good that I will visit again next time I'm up that way, since they've never disappointed me. read more

Cloud bar located in McMenamins is cool small pub space on a rainy day and has a lovely patio expanse for a clear day. The Terminator Stout and Hammerhead beers are great! Drink list looks solid! If your here for just drinks, it's 5 star spot up here in the cloud bar! My issue was with overpriced and underwhelming food. Also, extra charge of $1.50 for truffle tots and Cajun tots. Both were such a small portion and overly browned and salty, never had bad tots anywhere before, I wished I had fries after these. It was a busy day, so service was discombobulated but everyone was very friendly so cannot fault as busy day! I'd stop back to chill in the bar, it was a cool lil hidden spot to sip adult beverages in the fun McMennamins Kalama Lodge. Cute place! read more

The Cloud Bar is one of the eating and drinking establishments that is located with the Mcmenamins Kalama Harbor Lodge. It's up on one of the upper floors as you come into the front desk. There is an elevator to the right and there is a sign posted to indicate where the Cloud Bar is located. The Cloud Bar was indeed a great place for us to grab a drink and hang out. There is outside seating that overlooks the Columbia River which is always beautiful and impressive. We had some cider and beer here but upon closer inspection it looked like there were a few mixed drinks that is exclusive to this bar so that definitely warrants a return to try one of these cocktails. Staff was awesome as they usually are at Mcmenamins and fun to have a conversation with. read more

I don't know why I keep thinking McMenamins is the place to go eat. They have menus that sound delicious, but their ability to get it on the table in a timely manner doesn't exist. Let alone, the description of the meal clearly misses the actual meal, in a negative way. We were driving south from Bainbridge yesterday evening and we made the mistake of stopping at McMenamins and the Cloud Bar. The cocktails lack alcohol (won't even comment on their house wine) and a one hour wait for a blasé pizza, which was under cooked and luke warm, certainly wiped out any joy that the view may have brought. On the positive, the servers were very friendly. I pity them for having to make excuses for the poor backend service. Bottom line, keep driving unless you are truly desperate for something called food. Why did I give them 2 stars, servers and views. read more

We have come to consider this our favorite McMenamins - bar of course! The staff is always wicked cool and friendly. The atmosphere all year long is upbeat, friendly, sometimes a bit loud when the crowd is rowdy... The food options are plant-based friendly. Our pack is omnivore and herbivore so options and the ability to deconstruct menu options when necessary is welcome. It is nice that McMenamins always offers dark beer along with the favorites for right now - IPA. Their Irish Stout is a nice smooth coffee profile from start to finish. The Sunflower IPA has a nice citrus start with that bitter finish that is so beloved by IPA fans. We have found that their Rice bowl is consistently a great plant-based option that you can carnivore up if you like. The tots as alway when fresh and hot are awesome. Super cool ambiance. Very rustic, which lends itself well to its location here on the water in the Pacific Northwest. A lot of great selections on the menu. Made it hard to decide. Finally narrowed down my decision to two options and let the server decide for me. Had a sandwich called the "Hawaii Five-O Pressed Sandwich ". Super complex layering of flavors that put me at a loss for words to describe. Super rich and savory. Soy ginger pulled pork, Canadian Bacon, Smoked provolone, pineapple SAMBAL (?) siracha Mayo. Got to try this. Only knock was the service was a little slow but I am giving them a pass. Was at the bar and bartender was alone and training a new bartender. I will be back. Location is awesome. The view from the patio is stunning!!! Two of the three times I have gone the service was amazing, and most recently everyone seemed flustered and it took fifteen minutes to be greeted, over half an hour just to get waters and sodas to the table, and an hour to get food. Honestly it was worth it to have a beautiful view and end up with super good food. The pretzel and cheese appetizer is absolutely amazing!!!! The cajun tots are also to die for. We decided to try the Cloud Bar at McMenamins for the ambience. My wife wasn't thrilled with the choices on the menu so asked if she could order from the main menu at McMenamins which is downstairs and shares the same kitchen. My wife checked with the manager at McMenamins and said she could order from that menu in the Cloud Bar. Unfortunately for us, the manger of the Cloud Bar, Danielle, who must have been trained at a Nazi Youth camp summarily decided that process was more important than results and that bureaucracy took priority over customer satisfaction REFUSING too accommodate my wife's request absolutely refusing to take her order from the McMenamins menu. To be fair, our server, Katy, was great and took pity on us. My wife's chicken salad seemed a bit off so she went downstairs and ordered a take out meal from that menu. After finishing our meal at the Cloud Bat, we all adjourned to the McMenamins Bar (where our server, Elizabeth, was great) where my wife ate her meal, we had desert and had more drinks. Great views, decent food. SLOW service. If you're prepared to wait greater than 1hr for your food then no problem. We stopped for lunch on a Friday, wasn't totally packed but service was disproportionately slow. Nobody came to tell us there was a problem in the kitchen or anything so I'm assuming this is the usual wait. We ordered a salad, soft pretzels, and blackened salmon dish. My husband loved his salmon so giving 3stars for that reason. I wouldn't choose to come back unless i just had time I needed to kill. read more

Came here for a beer and a bite to eat. Other than the fact that I had to ask around to even find the cloud bar it was a great experience. The location is amazing both inside the bar and out on the patio. I would really recommend the Kalama burger, and of course the regular selection of beer. The waitstaff was fantastic and even brought us an unsolicited free appetizer because the food was a little slow in getting to us. We have had countless mcmenamin's experiences during our PNW adventures. We know where the bar is set for this establishment, no pun intended. We now live next to the Kalama harbor lodge and we visit it frequently. Every now and then we check out the cloud bar between 8 and 10 pm. Every time has been a great experience and this last evening was so enjoyable we felt like a 5 star review was in order. It was still mcmenamins. It was a rainy, cool day on the Columbia so a Spanish Coffee sounded pretty good and didn't seem like too much to ask. The room was nearly empty and there was one server/bartender. She was hobbling around with a cast doing the best she could. It took her quite a while and when our drinks finally came, the coffee was transparent. It was obvious she didn't know how to make a Spanish Coffee... or even coffee, for that matter. When we told her it wasn't right, she acted confused and didn't understand how it could be wrong... she went on about her leg and recent surgery, but never offered to make it right or take our drinks off the bill. While I'm empathetic with healing from surgery, that's not my problem as a customer. It was very unprofessional. I'm pretty sure that having a cast doesn't affect your ability to make drinks and if it does, you shouldn't be back at work yet. read more

My big family came here yesterday. We were treated like royalty. Everyone went out of their way to make us comfy & warm as we sat outside & alittle brisk. Our waiter Bryce was absolutely amazing. Got blankets for my mama, made sure we had what we wanted & the best attitude of any host I've had. I just loved him especially making my mama, who is 74, snuggly & comfy. Bryce made it a pleasure.
