We have been wanting to go rock climbing with the kids for a while and finally did! We did family…read morewaivers ahead of time and my wife had to do hers separate because she couldn't be added to family waiver because only one person over 18 on it. That caused a bit of confusion but we worked it out. But the cost for our family of five wasn't bad at all. We have a 5 yr, 9yr and 11yr old and had a blast! There were about five or six climbs that they all could do attached to the rope so they could belay down. Then there were some free fall climb areas that they also thought was fun. Then when my oldest was done climbing, we played some ping pong and he played the piano that they have there. So we easily spent a couple of hours there and will definitely be back! They also have an enclosed kids area for parties that looked cute. Highly recommend for some safe family fun!

Stringing prices are decent as is the location and selection of shoes and racquets (although…read morelimited). I would make this my regular shop in Austin were it not for one of the staff members. I came in on a weekend with a friend to get a couple of rackets strung and to peruse the shoe selection. Back home in CA, I have my own stringer. Consequently, I also have my own string (luxilon) on a reel as well as some individual packages that I keep in my tennis bag. Coming into the shop I wasn't committed to even necessarily using my own string. Unfortunately, the middle aged white guy in charge of managing the shop didn't care to listen to my queries about what I wanted. He took one look at my reel and insulted me about its condition. I told him that it wasn't well packaged and potentially slightly dirty because I had moved around a lot recently and had packed the reel into my tennis bag hastily. Still, he admonished me severely for allowing what he seemed to regard as unspeakably bad string maintenance. Although I was by no means committed towards using the reel--particularly since the string pricing at the shop seems reasonable--the employee acted as if I was obdurately demanding my own string, even after I said I'd said explicitly that I'd be fine if he used the shop's string (Again, I think there prices are reasonable.) The only conclusion I can reach, therefore, is that the employee was for some reason intent on demeaning me in front of my clearly more recreationally inclined, accompanying friend. I'm a competitive amateur (generally play 5.0 if available) who was trying to better acquaint my more recreational friend with some of the equipment--like racquets and shoes--in an effort to cement a new friendship in Austin. It seemed that the employee sensed this and out of some unfounded personal animus was purposefully trying to diminish my perceived tennis competence. This incensed me for two reasons: 1) I don't claim to be great at stringing racquets or maintaining equipment. In fact, my skills in this arena hardly keep up with my actual abilities as a tennis player. At no point in my interaction with the employee was I anything but deferential regarding his superior knowledge regarding racquet maintenance. This, despite the fact that were the employee and I to play tennis competitively, I would almost undoubtedly whoop his ass. 2) I was planning on spending more time at the store shopping for shoes and/or helping my friend demo racquets; but, the employee's behavior was so disquieting that I did neither of these things. He created such a contentious atmosphere that either I, nor my friend (who also acknowledged the employee's shitty behavior) had any further interest in shopping beyond getting my racquets strung. In other words, the employee's shitty demeanor denied the store potential purchases and compelled me to look elsewhere for equipment when the shop might very well have served my needs. I suppose, though, that were one to go into the shop for stringing or other needs and not be compelled to interact with this particularly grating employee, he/she would actually find it to be a decent, quaint reasonably priced shop.

The trail is a mostly flat winding path through fields and wooded areas with one decent hill towards the end if starting from Govalle Park. At the top of the hill at the end you are rewarded with a few spots of dt Austin from the NE. Be sure to bring plenty of water during the summer as it can get prettty hot out and certain areas are directly in the sun and can be a little draining. Great easy bike path for those that want something paved, no dirt path and a nice leisurely ride.

Maxwell trail is located off of 1826. The trail is approximately 5.25 miles; the Main (West) loop…read moreis approximately 3.25 miles and the Outer (East) Loop is approximately 2.0 miles. I discovered this trail when attending a trail run with East Side Beer runners. To access the trail, turn into the main driveway off FM 1826. Drive to the parking lot and you'll see an opening through a gate that leads to the trail head. There is limited parking available on site. There is a historical house and plaque about Mary Maxwell. Bikes are only allowed to ride clockwise, while hikers and those riding horses must use the trail in a counter clockwise direction. The trail had some technical sections with rocks and tree roots, but there were also some flat parts as well. A good portion of the trail was covered with grass so it was difficult to see rocks and other obstructions. I managed to finish the 5 mile run without injuring myself. The trail is pretty flat but there were a few portions that had some steps or a bit of elevation. Overall a good start trail for a mountain biker or trail runner.
