Let's talk about how stellarly awesome this place is!!!!! Amazing location with a beautiful old train depot as a store front! The hammcoks are so comfortable and unlike anything I have ever seen before!!! Plus this crew is so friendly and I can tell they have a passion and pride to stand behind their product! The hammocks range from $99 and up from there and you also have to buy the straps in addition to that. You get a bag that everything fits into and it comes with care instructions on the tag. From what I hear they can be washed as well!!!! I was invited to their first 3rd Thursday happy hour by Tess from Austin EastCiders and let me tell you I didnt want to leave. The event was kid friendly, dog friendly, hammock heaven, free cider and BYOB!!!! Everyone was so welcoming and I will be hanging out here often! I have been to other hammock stores but if you want to be the envy of the neighborhood you should buy your hammock here!! Superior product, buying local and from some awesome people!!! It's a win win for everyone!!! Stop in and see my new friends and I promise you you won't regret it!! Thanks guys this was one of the best happy hours I have been to in a while!!! See y'all soon!!!

The lies I was emailed about sending my gear right out and that they couldn't wait to get me all geared up!

I love Kammok! Great people, and even better Hammocks. Definitely a great place to drop by if you're walking around on the East Side!

So to find a decent surplus store that can help me replace those items is a very cool thing. Quonset Hut is located right off the drag on Fruth and it offers some very cool items, from modern surplus to World War II era surplus and even older. The owner is very friendly and willing to help you find what you need or place any special orders. He isn't that knowledgeable about Navy stuff but hey that's not a big deal, I know what I need. The prices can be a little high but you are paying for the convenience and the service, not something you are going to find buying online. I will warn you though that the place is VERY packed, just crammed full of goodies, so it can be hard to find what you are looking for and those who are mobility impaired might have a tough time getting around. Overall, I really love this place, I appreciate it even being there and I really enjoy the service and sharing stories with the owner. Great store.

The store has a nice layout, and you can easily find what you're looking for. I met Leslie, who was super helpful and patient. She recommended I spend a few minutes walking around the fitting area to get a good feel of the boot to determine the best fit. I'm in between sizes depending on shoes, brand and design (6-6.5 US Women) and typically wear lightweight socks with all year-round boots. To my surprise the Blundstone Original Chelsea # 510 in size 3 (AU/UK) = 36 EU fit just right. I wore my new boots to Vancouver, and they were comfortable right out of the box, no need to break them in. I signed up for their membership and can't wait go to back to pick up a few more things--overall solid experience.

It's well-stocked, well-organized, and staffed by folks who clearly live and breathe the outdoor life. What makes it great: Excellent layout -- spacious, easy to navigate, and doesn't feel overcrowded, even when it's busy. Gear is thoughtfully displayed, and the store flows well from one department to the next. Helpful staff -- genuinely friendly and super knowledgeable. Whether you're getting fitted for boots, comparing bike racks, or just looking for the best water bottle, they take the time to walk you through your options without upselling. Well-stocked -- From high-end hiking gear to commuter-friendly bike accessories, it's got a little of everything. Great selection of clothing, trail snacks, and even travel gear if you're about to hit the airport. Bike shop in the back is a hidden gem. Solid service, quick turnaround, and honest recommendations. Bonus: Located in a convenient area with easy parking (which is a huge win downtown). Feels like a hub for the local outdoor community -- check the events board or just chat with someone about where to hike, paddle, or ride next. Bottom line: Whether you're prepping for a thru-hike, a weekend at Barton Creek, or just commuting across town, REI Austin is a reliable and inspiring place to stock up. Great gear, even better people.
