First time visit to REI as I had been eyeing a pair of Blundstone boots for a long time and was…read moreunsure about sizing. The store has a nice layout, and you can easily find what you're looking for. I met Leslie, who was super helpful and patient. She recommended I spend a few minutes walking around the fitting area to get a good feel of the boot to determine the best fit. I'm in between sizes depending on shoes, brand and design (6-6.5 US Women) and typically wear lightweight socks with all year-round boots. To my surprise the Blundstone Original Chelsea # 510 in size 3 (AU/UK) = 36 EU fit just right. I wore my new boots to Vancouver, and they were comfortable right out of the box, no need to break them in. I signed up for their membership and can't wait go to back to pick up a few more things--overall solid experience.

Your Urban Basecamp for Outdoor Everything…read more The REI in downtown Austin is the kind of place that somehow makes you want to go camping immediately, even if you walked in just to browse. It's well-stocked, well-organized, and staffed by folks who clearly live and breathe the outdoor life. What makes it great: Excellent layout -- spacious, easy to navigate, and doesn't feel overcrowded, even when it's busy. Gear is thoughtfully displayed, and the store flows well from one department to the next. Helpful staff -- genuinely friendly and super knowledgeable. Whether you're getting fitted for boots, comparing bike racks, or just looking for the best water bottle, they take the time to walk you through your options without upselling. Well-stocked -- From high-end hiking gear to commuter-friendly bike accessories, it's got a little of everything. Great selection of clothing, trail snacks, and even travel gear if you're about to hit the airport. Bike shop in the back is a hidden gem. Solid service, quick turnaround, and honest recommendations. Bonus: Located in a convenient area with easy parking (which is a huge win downtown). Feels like a hub for the local outdoor community -- check the events board or just chat with someone about where to hike, paddle, or ride next. Bottom line: Whether you're prepping for a thru-hike, a weekend at Barton Creek, or just commuting across town, REI Austin is a reliable and inspiring place to stock up. Great gear, even better people.

Visited while on a day trip to Austin! It was a nice store, but was hoping for something unique to…read morethe location as it's the "flagship" store such as a hat or T-shirt that was only available there. Everything there was something I could buy online or at a store back home. Parking was annoying, as it was paid street parking or you could get your parking comp'd at the hotel next door if you made a purchase at the yet store. There was a bar at the front/outside portion of the entrance where some patrons were purchasing beverages and hanging out on the deck. To me it was a little random, since the parking situation sucked and the view wasn't anything special besides the busy street. They had cool displays and a wide selection to shop from. They also had a customization area for yeti water bottles/tumblers. We left empty handed, but they do have large bathrooms for patron use which is a plus. I do love my Yeti products, but this experience was a little disappointing.

They had people in giant coolers doing cold plunges, free coffee outside, ice sculptures, a band playing, oysters, etc! It was awesome. That was my first time browsing the store. I took my fiance recently to check it out and pick up a couple Christmas gifts. You can customize almost anything right on the screen and then wait for it or go back to pick it up. The wait time was 3 hours, so we went back the next day. They have a bar on the patio so I imagine those people having drinks were probably waiting for their orders. Friendly customer service, and clean and organized store.

RB's are an absolute necessity when doing first ascents. I've taken many lead falls on them and never once has an RB pull out of the rock. I have 100% confidence in their RB's. Over the years, Climb Tech has honed the RB's design, making them more user friendly and even more bombproof. Also, Climb Tech is the only company that has responded directly to the needs of route equippers worldwide. Climb Tech is one stop shop if you're looking to bolt a new line. For establishing big walls to overhanging sport routes, Climb Tech's products have proved indispensable. Other Climb Tech products I've tried include permadraws, chain draws, chain anchors, adjustable aiders, etriers, bolt hangers, and quickdraws. All of Climb Tech's products are top notch and of the highest quality. The customer service at Climb Tech is as good as it gets. The employees are rock climbers, so they understand the specific needs of climbers. Finally, Climb Tech is locally owned and operated in Austin, Texas! Buy local!

I have used their permadraws in the south austin gym as well as out at reimers and I can tell that they are made with amazing quality and will last many years to come. I do kind of wish that they would have a store front for their gear so I can feel and see the difference between everything they have to offer. In this modern day of a digital world and internet ordering, it's still nice to be able to walk into a store, see/ feel what you're about to purchase, and walk out with the product in hand.
