Went it on Sunday with five of us. We all ordered burgers. Service was outstanding, food came out hot and very quickly. Super clean, cute and cozy inside. However the food has really gone down hill. The burgers used to be so much bigger and juicier and the onion rings are no longer home made. I really hope they decide to take this review to heart and bring back the old ways.

Mushroom & Swiss Burger

I came here for lunch recently, and liked the different variety of burgers that were offered. The mgr/owner told me that they had been around for a few decades. The interior was on smaller side but good memorabilia. There's outdoor seating also. I ordered a mushroom swiss burger. It was a nice size patty with mushroom and other fixings. The burger was juicy, tasty. I noticed that they had coke zero on the fountain machine, so I went ahead and added an order of fries and coke zero. Their French fries were pretty delicious too. Golden brown and a nice crisp to them. The jalapeño burger was very good also. The jalapeños were strong. I felt tingle along my lips. I plan on visiting them again very soon. Had a good Time.

I came to this restaurant cause I heard from a few people I trust that it was good. It was not. My spouse and I visited this place on October 26, 2025. When we stopped by another couple was coming in for lunch as well. They were greeted and very warm and friendly when they came in. We did not receive the same warm welcome. The 1st couple placed their order and we seated immediately. I told the person taking my order 3 times Sweet potato fries, Sweet potato fries, Sweet potato fries, as my body has digestive issues with regular potatoes. After my order was completed they just vanished, didn't seat us down just basically 'sit wherever' The 1st couple food comes out fast quick and correct. Our food took nearly 30 minutes for a Mushroom Swiss burger, Kobe Burger, and REGULAR FRIES!!! I had already waited 30 minutes i wasn't going to waste more of my time requesting for a remake of my fry orde which I told the person 3 times previously. I came to this place with a coupon, now the restaurant keeps sending me unwanted solicitation, even after the fact that I unsubscribed from their Facebook page. Then I get a Facebook notification this morning of them trying to get me to come back! I wasn't going to leave a review of this place at first but when they went out of their way to continue to harass and advertise to me against my will, I knew that had to change. Oh encase you were wondering why I was bringing up the other couple, it was predominantly to show case hOw much better quality of service they received compared to us which was basically nonexistent. I will never come back to this place even if it was the last place on earth that had food. I rather stave to death than eat here AGAIN. Unless you are the same age demographic that the 1st couple was be prepared to receive absolutely no service whatsoever they were in their 60's plus. Avoid Cliff's Hamburger Grill anyway you can.

I returned here for the first time in about 4 years recently. Cliff's is a popular neighborhood burger joint that has a small outside patio in front along with an attractively decorated Houston themed indoor dining room. There is a very large menu board that offers handhelds, loaded potatoes, some platter meals, side dishes and milkshakes. They don't serve breakfast anymore. I tried the famous fish sandwich ($12.95) and made it a combo meal ($5.95) for a total of $20 and change with tax. I wasn't impressed at all. The fish sandwich was uninspiring in both size and appearance and tasted as being cooked in old oil. Ditto on the fries. Guys, change out your grease! This meal was a 2 at best. I was going to write my review on just that visit but decided to give them one more chance returning about a month later. This time, I went with the hamburger ($11.25) and made it a combo for another $5.95. With tax the cost was just under $20. This meal was much better. The 8 oz. beef patty on the large dressed bun tasted good and satisfying. The fresh cut fries were golden brown and had a lot of potato flavor. It was a good tasting meal (4). There are two reasons I am giving a 3 overall score. The first meal was bad tasting using the old oil. The second reason is the unposted practice of adding 3.5% to all credit card payments. Posted prices on the menu board are already high but then adding 3.5% and not telling you about it is a sin in my opinion. I hate it when restaurants do this. So don't do it. Just charge one price for cash and credit. Even had you told me about the surcharge both times I still wouldn't like it. For that reason, I probably won't return.

Such a a great burger spot. Cliff's is the definition of a traditional burger and you just can't beat it. The handcut fries are amazing as well. It's rare to find homemade fries like these! Not to mention everyone that works here is always so kind and helpful to get anything you need. I highly recommend you try this warm and welcoming neighborhood spot!

Ahh the burger is phenomenal. The meat is thick and hearty. This a fresh filling selection. A really full-sized burger. The onion are superb. They are fried in this outstanding tasting original batter. If you don't want to be full then don't come here. You would have to be superhuman to finish this meal, so be prepared for leftover to go. The service is super friendly and thorough. They assure to get the order correct. Super nice guys. The ambiance reminds of New York mafia lunch time. But with burgers. The sounds are of ESPN (catered to the crowd) well lite and comfortable feel. The photos on the wall are throwbacks which add to the grand feel. This is a must stop!!! You will honestly not regret.

I really love Cliff's hamburgers. They are always served fresh, piping hot and delicious! The topping are always perfect too. Service is great and the restaurant is clean. I'm not a fan of their fresh cut fries. I need to get a different item next time. There's a slight upcharge, but it would be worth it. They have a full menu, inlcuding fried okra, loaded baked potatoes, BBQ sandwiches, chicken fingers, salads and more! They don't mess around. Will be back to try more items.

I never forget a burger. And I just know I've been here back in the early 1990's when I lived on Fountainview. I got the Murphy combo and the grease was just glistening off the fries. I could hear my arteries screaming. At the bottom of the basket I couldn't bring myself to eat the last few bites as the bottom of the basket was glistening. I like crunchy fries more. These were fresh but kinda like 5 guys style. The burger was good. I should've taken more pictures but I ate it too quickly which is a good sign I suppose. But guys you gotta update your prices. Murphy rang up $13.20 and combo $6.16 pretax whereas the menu prices were $12.75 and $5.95 for these ... not cool

I read the Cliff notes

If Cliffs is a bandwagon, you're more likely to find me jumping off Cliffs than jumping on the Cliffs bandwagon. But it's still well worth a try, for sure. I have nothing against this burger shop, and I thought they were pretty nice, pretty tasty, pretty good value. The girl working here was super sweet, attractive, flirtatious as well, but the chicken sandwich was one of the less impressive ones I've had from non-chains, and the burger was nothing to write home about (which is a shame as I was so excited), and I would definitely have to come back here and try some other items in order to give it that 5th star. There are a lot of people that swear by this place, so hopefully I'll figure out why. I was a little bit put off by the republicanism that exudes from some of the elements of Cliffs (as with other Texas spots obviously), they may not have realized what a purple state we live in (50 50 right down the middle), but having said that, if a place is really good then I don't care about the politics at all such as Angie's or Lankford Grocery. It'd score 2 if it was a chain, but since every family owned place is rated on a 3-to-5 scale or thereabouts, it's a right-in-the-middle 4 for me.

For my visit, it was crowded but not to where you couldn't hear your table. Dress is casual, good for friends, solo, or pit stop. Service: 5/5 Our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. Food: 3/5 They offer mimosas and I was tempted to order, but was driving and it was 9AM so forewent that option. There are food options for every tastebud. Mark ordered the fried cheese sticks, they were one of the items that I found worthwhile to return for. I opted for the Waffle feast. It included a waffle, that I added pecans on top to, two strips of bacon, eggs your way and hash browns. To say that I needed to add salt and pepper to the eggs and hash browns because they tasted bland and flavorless was unfortunate. It also was served at room temperature, because it was made from scratch, would think it be warmer to hot. The waffle was savory and had good mix and topped with the pecans made it even better. If you're on this side of town and want a change up from the "other breakfast diners" DOT would be where I stop. Fast, friendly service. Depending the food you get, it gets the job done for some sustenance to hold you over when you're not sure when your next meal is because you'll be in Galveston for 7 hours riding a float in the Mardi Gras parade.

I wanted to start with one biscuit, but the biscuits come in pairs. The waitress said I could order just one anyway, but the order ended up being two. I meant to save the second one for breakfast, but that was not to be. It did not survive long enough to make it out the door. My actual meal was a bacon swiss and mushroom burger, which was excellent. Between the biscuits and the burger, I am forced to acknowledge that it was entirely too much food. Sadly, that did not prevent me from eating all of it anyway. Delicious! The restaurant, which is a diner with very basic decor, is on an approach road to IAH, and is open 24/7. When I arrived in the evening, the place was empty. By the time I left, there were a whole bunch of customers. I noticed in other reviews that people were saying they did not receive checks for their meal and felt they were over-charged at the register. I did not receive a check either, but the amount I was charged at the register seemed accurate -- and I was paying attention because I had read the other reviews first.

We finished lunch with an order of homemade bread pudding and tiramisu, the latter of which in 2012 won a chamber of commerce epicurean competition 1st place ribbon. I wasn't there to judge that competition and have had better, but sincerely appreciated the moistness of the bread pudding. While the majority of diners were older and a more mature crowd, there's a lot to be said for value, and we thought the menu price was better than reasonable and I think a lot of people will discover this as a value destination, something we all appreciate.
