I was very excited to visit this restaurant with my family while on vacation; however, the…read moreexperience we had was very poor and disappointing. The person taking our order was very rude and not welcoming at all. After we had ordered all of our food, we were asked if we would like to leave a tip, which we did. We later found out that gratuity had already been added beforehand "for a big group," even though there were only six of us. Because we were unaware that gratuity had already been included, we ended up leaving two tips totaling $48. This was very frustrating, but we decided to move on and enjoy our meal. Unfortunately, it then took almost 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and when it did, the order was incorrect. When we tried to explain to the staff that the food was wrong, they were not helpful and were initially unwilling to fix the issue. They brought the same incorrect food back, and we had to explain multiple times that the burger was not the one my sister had ordered. Eventually, they told us it was "only missing one ingredient." At that point, my sister was exhausted and anxious from having to explain the issue so many times, so she ultimately just ate the incorrect food. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially because we were on vacation and had been looking forward to visiting. The poor customer service, unexpected gratuity, long wait, and incorrect food made the experience even more frustrating

We also decided to order an appetizer, giant pretzel. The pretzel was our quickly and tasted like it just came out of the oven. The cheese dip also had good flavor. The was a great start to the meal. Too bad this would be the highlight! I ordered the fish of the day. The waiter said it was bluefin? Never heard of a bluefin except for a tuna and this was not tuna!! The fish had a chewy meaty consistency and not much flavor. I didn't finish it. I had onion rings as my side. Rings not bad. My wife ordered a chicken sandwich with FF. She said it was good. The atmosphere was nice but nothing special and no view of the ocean. I would think twice about going here

A5 Wagyu Smash Burgers? Sign me up everyday of the week!…read more We were staying in the West Side of the island, and saw this place pop up on Yelp and knew I had to give it a try. I went all in and went with the 3x3 which in hindsight was way more than I needed. The meat is rich which means a single or 2x2 is all you need. The crisp on the smash was perfection and the bun was pillowy soft. The sauce complimented everything well. My only regret was not asking if they had Serrano peppers before I ordered bc that would've added a whole other level to an already amazing burger. $30 well spent. If you just look at the menu, you might have sticker shock, but they are using A5 meat for the burgers which is why its higher priced. Compare it to most food in the area, everything is overpriced bc it's touristy, at least at Swagyu you get a quality tasting meal. Worth every dime in my opinion. They have locations in San Diego as well, and all I could think of is how much money I'd spend if they had a spot up in the Bay. Smash burgers done right is so hard to find, if they had one in the Bay I'd be a regular here for sure.

I had the grilled Ono, and it was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked, tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. It was one of those meals you're still thinking about afterward. My husband had the Chef's Tasting Menu and loved everything. He started with the seafood potstickers and Caesar salad, followed by the macadamia nut-crusted mahi mahi. The mahi mahi was gorgeous and cooked perfectly, and the macadamia crust made it something special. What we really appreciate about Hula Grill is that it delivers the whole Maui experience: wonderful fresh seafood, beautiful presentation, a relaxed atmosphere, and food that is genuinely memorable. Coming back a second time on the same vacation says a lot when there are so many restaurants to choose from on Maui. Hula Grill has definitely earned a place on our "must return" list. An absolutely fantastic meal and a wonderful way to spend one of our last evenings in Maui. Highly recommend, especially the fresh fish!
