This place is amazing. Not only was the food excellent but their staff was wonderful as well. My wife and I came with our 3 month old daughter at the time. Even though there was a bit of a wait they made sure to get us a table that accommodated her car seat as well. We ended up ordering the chicken on toast and the eggs Benedict which seemed to be a popular choice from previous reviews. The chicken on toast was amazing, nicely fried and juicy and I don't remember what else was added onto this dish but it all came together nicely. My wife had the eggs Benedict and I don't really remember much about it since I was too focused on my dish. So yeah, she says it was tasty as well. Overall a great place for brunch or breakfast and definitely a place we will go to again if we are ever in Winnipeg. read more

This place is just excellent for foodies and Yelp snobs. For me it's mostly because of the flavor combos in the breakfast cocktails and the dishes. I had a boozy cocktail called "The Dude" which had kahlua (I think?) espresso, tonka bean milk, and some other liquor. It's small but very potent. I think the least exciting item on the menu might be the berry porridge. My partner had the fried chicken on waffle and I had a (very fresh) smoked char on breaded potato sticks. The mouthfeel of the latter was super interesting; the potato seemed to absorb and complement the squishiness of the smoked char--I'm not even a fish fan but I had to try something different. All the waitstaff look polished and "indie", like they're wearing clothes from Aritzia or urban outfitters. read more

We met friends here for a weekday brunch before flying home from Winnipeg, based on the reviews and how packed it was at 11:30 mid-week I'd agree with the suggestion to come on off hours or plan to wait. Do it either way because this was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Asparagus and beautiful smoked trout and endless perfect coffee were heaven for me and folks around me indulged in the chicken and waffles, the most lovely porridge, the chorizo tostada, all bright with fresh local veg. The room is half sunken below the street, still full of light but feels a bit like a secret, and it's super lovingly designed. The staff are excellent, friendly and funny and on time but not in a rush, which I bet is tricky to maintain when you're crowded like that. All in all a perfect little insight to the thoughtful and delicious things happening just below the surface in Winnipeg. read more

It's small and not your run of the mill bacon and eggs. There's no included sides, or combos if that's your thing. I went with the most recognizable item; Dill Eggs Benedict, with a side of maple bacon and a side of roasted red potatoes and tomatoe / ricotta toast. 3 people= $65 While this may sound like a poor review; I want to paint a visual of what to expect. While traveling through CANADA on tour with Carly Rae Jepsen I had a couple days off in Winnipeg. Yelp is a total lifesaver when traveling. I found out about Clementine this way. It was about noon and I was looking for a brunch spot. Clementine had excellent reviews so I headed over. I was very glad I did. The restaurant itself is down stairs. It's located off princess Street and if you weren't specifically looking for it you'd never find it. This alone makes it feel very much like an exclusive spot that only a few locals would know about. I ordered the Smoked Tuna Caesar Salad, Kale, Spinach, Parmesan, Bread Crumbs. And 'Le Burger Week' - Chicken Parm Dip. A Cornflake Crusted Chicken, Basil Aioli, Parmesan, Aged Cheddar, Gruyere, Pomodoro Sauce, House Made Milk Bun. With one dollar per burger sold donated to the United Way. Let me say the taste was unlike anything I've ever had before. Completely impressed. Get the word out, this is the place to go. read more

I was in Winnipeg for the long weekend and read generally positive reviews so decided to to try Clementine. We went there for brunch. It was hamburger week so decided to try their special burger. I have been to plenty of restaurants. I am a born and raised New Yorker and I can say that the burger I had there was the best burger I have ever had. The texture was fantastic. The balance of the salt and sweet and spicy was just perfect. My girlfriend had the cucumber special which was also amazing. The food and service was so good we literally went back the next day. Clementine is such a special place. The space is cozy and comfortable and I want to live there. The food is creative comfort and I want to eat it for every meal. The staff are fun, non-intrusive and hardworking. The speed is quick, efficient and yet, not rushed. You have to come here for breakfast or lunch. I'm so sad that I can't come to this spot all the time. My boyfriend and I tried it out while visiting Winnipeg for the first time, and it was definitely my favorite restaurant out of all that we tried. You open the door and go down some stairs into this comfortable basement space with an open kitchen and cafe that you can order from while you wait. The exposed brick walls and ceiling pipes may not be everyone's thing, but I thought it looked great and the amount of light in there was just right; not too dark nor bright. The coffee was good, the food was great. I dare say that the Braised Bacon Benedict here put anything we have in Minneapolis to shame. It was so well presented and that hollandaise sauce was incredible, so think and flavorful, and speaking of think and flavorful, that bacon was to die for. I'm not normally one for Eggs Benedict (it was my boyfriend who ordered it), but I would order it from Clementine often. I ordered the Chorizo Verde Tostada and that was amazing also! Just the right amount of spiciness, all the flavors blended together very well and was just the right amount of food for me. Our server was on point and polite, we had everything we needed and our coffees continued to be refilled. Honestly, there wasn't anything not to like about this restaurant. If you would like to be seated on the weekends with zero wait time, you need to arrive no later than 9:30am as this place is packed all the time! I finally had the opportunity to check it out a few weeks ago! Clementine is located in the basement so you have to go down a flight of stairs to make it in. I don't recall seeing any alternative ways of getting in so just keep that in mind especially for those with mobility impairments. The first thing I noticed when I arrived was that the place was filled with Millennials. The menu itself is limited and only has a few selections. Each of the items on the menu is filled with a combination of unique ingredients. It is quite different from your typical breakfast/brunch places, which I appreciate very much! You honestly need to get out your comfort zone to give anything a try because you might find 1 or 2 ingredients that you may not enjoy on each of the items. I had the Smoked Arctic Char. It was served with crispy potato cake, créme fraîche, horseradish and cured dill cucumbers. I enjoyed the presentation. However, the portion size was tiny for what it was worth and the food was alright.
