As soon as you approach the hotel, it is already a different vibe. Once u enter, you don't feel like you are in NYC! Before I went up to the rooftop, I checked out the poolside area on the 1st floor. It was so lively with full bar and seating. There was a DJ in the back. If you continue walking, you'll bump into the pool in the back. They had cabanas and poolside chairs. With the DJ, it just gave me Miami or Vegas vibes! I proceeded to the rooftop which was another incredible experience! Staff were great and welcoming. Service was quic=k and attentive despite the lunch rush (a couple of corporate events, it appeared). The Garden Margarita was a tasty, "healthy" alternative to a standard margarita; the frozen mojito was a nice drink option too. The grilled chicken sandwich was very tender and juicy, with a delicious slaw on top. The Beach Hot Dog was served with kimchi slaw, but the dog (a Pat LaFrieda dog, no less) was sadly a bit mealy. Perhaps a little more time on the grill was needed. Overall, a decent meal in a beautiful beachy setting a block from Rockaway Beach.

Mary Kate is my waitress and I order sparkling water. But then also ask for a glass of cab! Which is delicious. Given the nuggets were only like $7, I'd say that's a pretty great deal. I also ordered the Tofu Poke Bowl. The tofu in the bowl was the perfect texture (not mushy) and was cooked in a delightfully sweet teriyaki sauce. I would 100% order it again. I couldn't have asked for a better post-beach meal. Two of them were clearly not fresh. I asked the waitress to replace them, and she called the owner over. I explained that I had gotten sick from eating a bad oyster before and was concerned about the freshness. He took the tray away and said, "Then you shouldn't order oysters." That response was rude and unprofessional. At that point, I should have canceled the rest of my order. We also ordered two pasta dishes. The Squid Ink Linguine was just okay--nothing memorable. The Spicy Sausage Gramigna was disappointing because it was supposed to include broccoli rabe, but there wasn't any in the dish. Overall, the poor quality of the oysters and the owner's dismissive attitude made for a very disappointing dining experience.
