The place looks like we were walking into someone's living room with a huge bookcase in the back with books and an all black background Meet The Beatles album cover without the letters with what looked like a white photo negative copy juxtaposed to its left. Nice comfortable motif. Long high tables in the middle shaped like an "L" with regular tables for four along the rear periphery. The service is excellent. Brisket and Ribs, Fish and Chips, The Wedge Salad and Charred Octopus were excellent. The hot lobster roll is alright. I realized that we were here before because of the comfortable ambiance which is unforgettable. My friend enjoys his Martini every time. I have tried neither their signature drinks nor a theme dinner night, nor a live music event. Seems like there are many reasons to come to this place. We visited tonight to celebrate my birthday. The appetizers of Barada and the salad were fantastic. For the main course, my partner had a filet mignon steak sandwich, while I had the yardbird. Both dishes were generously portioned and cooked perfectly. The Yardbird came with a side of hot honey, which I enjoyed on the side, and it really enhanced the chicken, which was moist and crispy. Review = 4.5/5 First time here last night for my wife's birthday dinner for the Harry Potter themed dinner as we're huge HP fans and loved that this fell the day before her actual birthday. Making a reservation was incredibly easy, available through opentable (how I made rez) but you can also call. I indicated through the reservation that my wife has a fish allergy and made sure to call the restaurant to make sure that the menu could be changed to accommodate her. We arrived a few minutes early for the "last seating", but were seated promptly. The vibes in the restaurant were immaculate, and it was decorated incredibly. We were given regular menus, but when our waiter came to introduce himself, we informed him that we were there for the themed dinner. We were not given any of the Prologue (which were jelly beans) but as a later reservation, it wasn't a make or break for us. The only reason for 4/5 stars was that although I informed the staff prior to arriving that my wife has a fish allergy, they still brought out the 2nd course to her as is. I will note though, they were VERY good about making the change on the fly, and was given "eggplant meatballs" which were delicious. The rest of the evening went off without any hiccups, and we enjoyed our evening. Food was very good, as were all the drink pairings. I don't go there as often because when the volume of conversation goes up at all the tables they turn up the volume on the music and quiet often we are unable to hear the people at the table during the conversation. This is a restaurant that is worth a visit for an enjoyable meal. The Halibut was perfectly prepared and a generous cut. Roast chicken had a crispy skin and served on top of mashed potatoes and asparagus. Started with a Caesar Salad which may be one of the best I've ever had. It was a bit different from traditional Caesars but yet still a Caesar! The level of service helped maintain the 5 stars I gave this restaurant and experience. Full bar. Valet parking. Loved the food at decor at my friend's trivia night dinner. The food was fabulous. I ate the Monica moist maker the following day and it was better than the first night! I'll absolutely try one of their other events and even a regular night. Unfortunately the night seemed short staffed and took them forever to bring out the courses. We were there nearly 3 1/2 hours. Sadly the trivia night wasn't interactive or live as no one hosted it, this was a huge let down. Hopefully the service And host aren't the norm and next time will be better. read more

We had a delightful time at the SITC themed dinner on 6/6/23..Much anticipated & it did not disappoint. Quite a schlep from Westbury down to Atlantic Beach, 2 lanes closed on Lido Blvd west soon after exiting the Meadowbrook which added a few minutes at 6 pm, so all in all about a 43 min drive. We really did not know what to expect step by step. While there are a few enthusiastic reviews of the theme nights, they were vague. We arrived to an adorable, uncluttered room with lots if wood. Above the bar are 3 inset screens, each with a different episode playing. Just clips, and it was fun to guess and make references to each. The menu can begin at any time slot available for theme.. so you just arrive and your courses begin. The whole place does not get the same course together. I won't detail each dish because they were specific to the theme, but each was prepared with care and delicious..not one complaint. Each course has a coordinating drink, from a beer to a Cab to an unusual clear prosecco berry margarita to the signature Cosmo. We omitted the Cab as it was more than enough and the Cab would have thrown off the balance of cocktails & flavors for me. I did see an enticing Cosmo in a coupe glass on their IG site earlier in the day & was mildly disappointed to have a 1/2 short stem martini glass instead..but it was fine as I had to drive home. The dinners run 65-75/pp and IMO are well worth it. The staff really hustled & could not have been nicer. I would go on the earlier side because after 7pm it was filled & bustling. Mention of being extremely loud is accurate.. not at first when the room was 1/2 filled, but absolutely after it every seat was occupied. There is definitely a way to add some soft additions to the ceiling to absorb some of that sound. Most everyone was well over 40+ and as we age, it's just not pleasant to sit and yell. I am looking forward to another theme that is exciting for us to return..I recommend going with a group, the 4 seat tables were nice and the long, large tables looked like a lot of fun. ****Service and Manager (RIck / Ricky) THE WORST*** SAT AT BAR What a disappointing experience tonight at Beginnings (Atlantic Beach). What should have been an enjoyable Friday night was nothing even close. Sat at the bar and ordered cocktails and some appetizers. (Bill $170-) (Sushi: Beginnings Roll and Lobster Roll) followed by Duck Bao Buns and Duck Deviled Eggs). First bite into deviled egg - removed a sharp object - then another. Mentioned to bartender I think there were bones in the duck on deviled eggs. He said "oh, really.. you didn't like them?". Then walked away. Asked to mention to the manager. Bartender came back and said manager stated "I doubt it." And, proceeded to say .. if we wish to look for the bones then they would take it off the bill. (not the intent). More so the disregard for voicing what should have been alarming .. yet, the response from management was the complete opposite. In summary - the manager, Rick or Ricky, never came over .. until I requested. I was more taken aback that a customer states that there were bones in the duck deviled eggs and there is no concern from management other than a dismissive approach. He approached and ..to me... Questions my integrity and my findings and experience.. and only to say .. he said "I didn't think so as this never has happpened before" .. Really?? Unreal. Offered a gift card .. to which I said..please pass along to someone who would return. I initially dined her during COVID over the Bridge from Breezy - and loved it. Not any more!! read more

This bustling restaurant offers an extensive menu in a variety of food type offerings plus plenty of seats- both inside and outside (in front and in the side). There is good energy in this establishment as hungry customers file in. We enjoyed a variety of salads and duck buns for appetizers. Got a $228 tab and food wasn't worth $228. Had the pork chop which was bland. Their signature thing to do is put a dark glaze sauce on most of their entrees. First time I went they put the sauce on a steak and last night they put on the pork chop I ordered. Maybe if they focused on seasoning the pork chop instead of saucing everything up it might have tasted better. If I'm going to pay what I did, the food better blow me away. read more

For a change of pace we ventured to Far Rockaway for dinner to celebrate my Sister in law's birthday. We are so happy we chose Beginnings. The decor and ambiance are unlike anywhere we have been, it's rustic, eclectic and vintage yet fresh. There is a calm chic vibe. Our server Megan was fantastic! She was warm, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, she made great menu recommendations. Now the food. OMG! First, portion sizes are large so you may want to only get one appetizer or share the appetizer because you will need all your stomach space for your main course and the decision will be tough with so many great choices. I had the Deviled eggs for my starter and the Linguini Bolognese, both were fantastic. My husband and sister in law had the Finger Licking Ribs, my husband also had the BBQ brisket on the side with the Mac and cheese. Took me a while to finally type out this review but I have been doing nothing but raving about this dinner for weeks. Ive had friends tell me to try a Beginnings theme night dinner for a bit now and when I saw they were doing one based on Hulus "The Bear" I had to go. The restaurant is so intimate amongst stacks of books all lit by Edison bulbs and candle light. The staff was so kind and super into the theming. They even had the show playing on the tvs behind the bar. Every single "chapter" of the meal was amazing! My favorite was the short rib and risotto. There was so much food we took bags home to enjoy as leftovers. I cannot wait to come back. Thank you guys so much for such a fun dining experience. read more

I had such a great brunch here today for my Besties bachelorette!! Not only was the food impeccable, but so was the service. We started off with some corn bread (try the butter honey with It!), pigs in a blanket, shisito peppers, ricotta whip with bread. All of this was delicious!! Since we visited when it was a nice day out and it was during the pandemic, we opted to sit outside. Only complaint was that they had some machine running and it was very loud. I believe it was mentioned that the indoors was reserved for a private event. We were the only people out there besides for one other party. Due to that fact I can't comment about the venue in the inside. The food was good and so was the service. I loved the plating for my chicken and waffles but the powdered sugar literally for everywhere and was blowing off my plate. The cocktails are very pretty and strong. They have a valet service but there is also some street parking. A lot of the street close by are resident only parking. TIP: make sure you have cash! Depending on where you are driving from there is a toll bridge that does NOT work with EZPASS for some reason. The toll is only $2 but it was an inconvenience for some people in my party. read more

The appetizer ribs were cold inside and out!!! The flavor was rubbed all over the outside but the inner parts were all plain pork flavored as if never injected or marinade . Linguini and meatballs tasteless and they said their best seller . To kids I guess. But no flavor and son had To add salt and pepper all over. Meatballs weren't soft and juicy just hard. Asked for lemons for the water never got them. Wings weren't bad that's the only bright side. I WOULD NEVER come back. So much more good places in Long Beach. read more

This has easily become one of my favorite restaurants on Long Island. I was here twice within a week and each time was just wonderful! My first time here was for Friends trivia on a Tuesday night. It was a great crowd and a good amount of people. The trivia was SUPER hard (and I used to think of myself as a Friends expert) but in a good way. The food and drinks were fantastic! I was drinking the Scarlett letter and it was perfect. My kind of drink. Cherry infused vodka, ginger and lime. So. Perfect. Then the 3 of us shared the poutine, the Mac and cheese and Mexican Street Corn. Everything was sooooo good! The poutine wasn't a traditional poutine but they could have called it ice cream and I still would have devoured it like I did! It was amazing. The street corn was super flavorful and the Mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy and perfect. We had a blast and will definitely be back for trivia again. Today I was there for the Forky pumpkin painting and it was such a great day! My son had a blast. For $20 the kids got to paint a Forky pumpkin, make two of their own Forkys and get a drink, meal and dessert. I had the breakfast tacos and mimosas. Again the food was amazing and the mimosas were PERFECT! I really love this place. It's cozy, the staff has always been over the top attentive and friendly, and they have a great amount of events for both adults and kids. I can't wait to come back again! read more

Decided to make reservations for this place for Mother's Day a few weeks in advance and although they were all booked for indoors, we selected the heated tent. In my mind I thought it would be a cute patio with the same vibe as the indoor part of the restaurant, but no this truly was set up as a random backyard tent. I was so disappointed by this especially because I drove far and paid tolls. It's 2022, these "tents" that were originally set up because of covid should be looking nicer. I just think people are more likely not to return to places if the ambiance is off, especially for an expensive place. I tried to see the positives of sitting in the tent, but there truly was none. The door kept opening every five seconds, so it was definitely chilly than it was heated. The floor was also not leveled well, so every time the waiters walked by, my chair shook. I felt like we were sitting at someone's graduation or birthday being held in a backyard. As if it couldn't get any worse, we were ignored for a good ten minutes and then I finally had to call the waitress over to tell her we had been waiting to order. She was kind and apologized, but already it was not turning out to be a good experience for my mom. The food was certainly good, but it wasn't anything out of this world. I could have had a similar meal in a nice looking restaurant and been way more comfortable. It's also on the pricey side which didn't help that we were feeling uncomfortable and dishing out $200 for three people (one entree each, one shared appetizer, a cocktail and wine). Drinks were strong but didn't taste like it, which made them dangerously delicious. The steak tartare and charred octopus appetizers were to die for! For dinner we had the fried chicken and truffle ravioli. Everything was perfect! The place has a cool vibe and one thing we really loved, were the large tables. Too often you go to a restaurant where the tables are tiny, squished together and you are stuck pretending not to hear the entire conversation of people sitting to the left - not here!! Tables are large, well spaced, and you somehow still have a very intimate dining experience despite the general loudness of the restaurant. To say this restaurant is amazing would be an understatement!! My boyfriend and I decided on date night here after a recommendation from a colleague. Once we arrived I was in awe over the ambiance of this adorable spot! The library feel and dimmed lights really set the mood. The waitstaff were so friendly, provided us favorite recommendations and checked in on us multiple times to ensure our happiness. Now onto the good part, the food! This review is tailored only to the themed dinner experience as I'm sure a normal dining experience would be normal. We attended a wizard themed dinner experience that had 5 courses with drink pairings. Upon seeing a video on tiktok, we thought it seemed like a fun activity! When we called for a reservation, we were informed there was no availability inside for seating for the themed dinner but that outside would also have decor and/or TV/speaker that was relevant to the theme dinner. We arrive and are seated, and we are just sitting outside like we are going to eat a normal dinner. Nothing about it felt like a themed dinner like we'd been assured on the phone. Not to mention the weather is miserable and they are storing lukewarm tap water outside for water refills. Each course of the meal was pretty decent. Nothing was awful but nothing was spectacular. Most of the drinks were good except for an actual Jack and Coke that did not feel on theme at all and was undrinkable unless you're 21 and in college. For a meal, sure this was decent food and drink and well worth the $65 price per head. For a themed dinner, absolutely not. Nothing here felt like an experience because we sat outside and the speakers played Tiktok music over just sticking to the theme and trying to make the outside diners feel included in the experience. If we'd known that there wasnt decor (or rather, the person on the phone had been truthful) we wouldn't have booked the dinner unless we were seated inside (which was beautiful!) Seems like they just wanna get people in their restaurant and spend the money rather than have them enjoy the experience ‍ PS. My dessert cake course was cold right out of the fridge. read more
