Very spacious and clean pools. About 50-100 tanning lounge chairs to choose from. Very attentive lifeguards. Snack bar is available as well. Very kids/toddler-friendly. The sizeable shallow end has several sprinklers/splash fountains for children to play in, and there are slides on both the kiddie and adult sides. Also a playground in the back (not affiliated with the pool). There are always many life guards on duty every time I've gone. The pool is accessible only to Clarkstown residents and their guests, so if you're not a resident befriend someone who is. You must obtain a Clarkstown resident ID card first at the registration office at 31 Zukor Road in New City. (The pool won't simply accept a driver's license.) Rates can be either daily or seasonal for individuals or family, and are very reasonable compared to similar community pools.

On a recent visit it was nice to see that the previous snake-ridden den of iniquity has long been been replaced with a legitimate pool and that the mythological beasts of years past have been slayed by chlorine and actual cement walls. You can even see right to the bottom. What a concept. This is what Nanuet Lake should have been like all along... no thanks whatsoever to my parents who thought this was some tough love version of Shangri La, albeit minus the all consuming bliss one often finds in paradise. I kid about my parents (almost) and am happy to bestow five easy stars for a childhood reclaimed. I still hate snakes.

The signs say "shower before getting into the pool," yet I was yelled at to shower just for walking to a lounge chair with my towel. If you have to shower the moment you step onto the deck, change the signs to reflect that. ​Dealing with the public is hard, but the staff here are completely miserable and looking for a fight. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere.

It was great, they would have their fill of fun and then we could go home and rest. Now years later my wife and I joined the newly renovated pool with all new lounge chairs, locker and rest rooms and a new kiddie pool with a slide. It is a huge improvement. It was ok before and now it is so much better. We came here quite a bit this year and really enjoyed it. There is no food allowed by the pool area but they have a snack stand with tables and benches where you can either purchase food or bring your own. We had a very nice time this season and will join again next. They also have other amenities at the park such as tennis and a meeting room.

There's also a pool area but I believe it is for Hempstead residents only. There are some baseball fields that are utilized mainly by summer and Little League teams across the street from the pool. There's also a self-pitch batting cage that is open to the public. It's fun if you have someone who can throw straight balls so you can actually hit them. My brother is not one of these people as evidenced by the bruises along my arm, leg, and hip area. I usually only come here to play some pick up basketball but the courts are a bit uneven and when it rains, the water collects easily and leaves puddles all over the place. The only downside about Rath is that it shuts down at sunset, so there is no midnight basketball available for the gym rats. However, I did circumvent this by climbing the fence with a friend and playing some full-court 1-on-1 past 9pm without any night lights. We had to stop every once in a while because there were park keepers and popos driving by but for the most part we were gravy. The other downside that I must mention is that some of the kids in the area are obnoxiously immature and they tend to frequent this park at all times, day or night, so that may hinder the overall fun had depending upon proximity to these little rascals. I don't think there is a solution to that except better parenting but that doesn't seem to be a priority for some in the area.
