I will admit, public pools have never appealed to me. I envision screaming children, hairy men with beer bellies, and the only Chairs to use are either broken or in the shade. This wasn't like that at all. You should be or must be a resident of the Town to enter. It's 9$ Sparkling pools, tons of chairs ( no lounges, I was upset) Bathrooms, sauna, showers Indoor pools if you want to be out of the sun No eating by the pool. The pool complex is very well maintained and operated. There are plenty of late teen-early twenty-ish life guards on duty and they are very serious and attentive. They offer an excellent swimming lesson and life guard training program. We like to bring my son and his friends (age 11-12) to use the indoor pool complex in the winter. The pools are heated to the point that the water temperature is comfortable and easy to get used to. The kids always have fun using the diving pool and like to swim in the shallow pool as well as the deep water. We are always able to find seating in an area where we can watch our children. I would not recommend that young boys go into the men's locker room alone. Use the buddy system or go in with them if possible. I always have the boys use the changing cubbies when I have them with me. I do not appreciate the old men walking around the locker room without bathing suits or any other type of clothing on. They generally walk around the locker room in a state of undress with their junk hanging out for all to see and conglomerate in the steam room or sauna which (for some reason) they are very territorial about. The men's locker room and bathroom areas are pretty clean as far as a public facility goes. I always see maintenance mopping the floors. My wife has never complained about the comings and goings in the woman's locker room. The people in the admission booth think they are doing you a favor when you come in to use the facility. I wouldn't mind hearing a thank you when you pay them to enter. They are not very polite. Once you're in you don't see them again but hearing a thank you from them wouldn't hurt. read more

Echo Park is a gem. It's not a private country club or hotel and if you want that kind of experience you should probably go to one instead of Echo Park. For a few bucks you get a diving pool, indoor and outdoor pools, steam rooms and sauna. It's open every day of the week from the early morning to nearly 10pm (normally, pre-covid). The indoor pool is lined with plants and palm trees. Outdoors there's room to sunbathe. There are programs for children and older people as well. You really do get a lot for your money. I can't say much about anyone's attitude, I just pay and I go in. The lifeguards are very good here and manage what can be very rowdy kids and teens in summer. Who in their right minds thinks that running on wet concrete would end well, otherwise? My only gripes are with the older people who come here and take up swim lanes expressly meant for fast swimming, or jump into lanes where people are already doing laps and then decide to just slowly walk. I do wish the lifeguards would be stricter and tell them to go to other parts of the pool, instead. And some of the rules they have posted about "obscene language" or changing clothes in the locker rooms seem weirdly out of time. Despite that, what's better than coming to the pool after a long day at work in the evening with the stars out and crickets chirping or on a hot day? read more

Although I agree it is wonderful that this is open to the local public for swimming; I feel it is horrific that they forbid ANYONE using a life jacket, arm floaties, etc. My child is 5 years old and can NOT swim yet, so he uses a life jacket when we go swimming but this pool REFUSES to allow that. They simply refuse. So what good is the place for small kid? NO GOOD! Parents have to carry the small kids around. Flotation devices HELP kids learn to swim. Like training wheels on a bike. Also, we went swimming yesterday and it was FREEZING! The water AND air in the place was flat out COLD. My kid now has a fever. We were blue when we got out of the water. Water was effing cold. Turn up the heat cheap skates. For real. read more

Well kept pool, locker rooms and saunas. The water is warmer than the Nassau Aquatic Center at Eisenhower Park, which we enjoyed on such a chilly day. Plenty of chairs for seating by the pool. The were 2 lanes designated for fast swimmers, 1 lane for walking/exercise and 1 larger lane for FUN! The main pool went from 3'6 to 4'6 at its deepest point. There is a separate deep pool that is 8'0-12' deep. One lane is designated for FUN and the remainder of the deep pool for diving with 2 well maintained diving boards. The lifeguards are very attentive. It was truly a good time. My husband and I, along with my mother and our son really enjoyed the experience today. read more

Echo Park Complex is a badly managed (nasty attitude) and badly maintained facility. The men's locker room has more broken lockers than working lockers. Almost every shower is broken. The pool is not sanitary since the no clothes/shoes and required shower before use is not enforced. The steam room is most often not working and it and the sauna is not clean. They claim it is "cleaned" at days end ??? Exercise/Yoga instructors do not seem qualified or knowledgeable. In short, a Third World complex. read more

Be advised, you have to live in the Town of Hempstead and prove it to gain entry. Depending on who is working the desk, they could ask you for more than a driver's license, they can ask for electric bill, proof of homeownership etc. It says on the website that Non-district residents are admitted entry. HOWEVER this means that you still have to live in some zone on Long Island that isn't particularly clear on the website. If you don't or you can't prove it, they will refuse entry. Also it's CASH ONLY. And if you want to apply for a pass? Forget about it, you need 20 different forms of ID, and some ridiculous rule like, you have to apply on the second tuesday of the month, only if it's not raining and only before 2pm and only if the person on reception can be bothered. The staff are unprofessional and not very pleasant. The dude on reception continued to spend ages on the phone despite having a line of people waiting. This is typical. read more

Is Echo Park a perfect pool, no, but I do not expect a town facility to be. I am glad to have an indoor facility for my kids to swim all year round. My kids have been on the Echo dive team and swim team, and the price is very reasonable to be on the teams. The coaches have been consistently great and had a great rapport with the kids. I have always been impressed the the lifeguards, very professional, and very serious about the rules. Some complain the lifeguards are too strict, not letting anyone run on the pool deck, but lifeguards being very serious about the rules is exactly what is needed. I am going to give it five stars, not because it is "as good as it gets", but with so many ridiculous one star votes, the pool's rating needs to go up. read more

I was a lifeguard at Echo Park 35 years ago. It was a well run pool back then. When I visited last weekend, I found some improvements and some faults. The woman at the payment window was HORRIBLE! She harassed the people in front of me to no end. It was embarrassing! The indoor pool was fine. I actually enjoyed the palm trees in pots around the pool. I was most pleasantly surprised by the locker room improvements. And as always, the locker room, sauna, steam and workout rooms were a pleasant surprise. I'm looking forward to returning this weekend! Additionally, I loved that I could sit outside, even though the outdoor pools were not open yet! read more

Not a bad swimming environment in the lanes but place has drawbacks. First, in winter, it's cold because you swim under glass and insulation isn't great. Second, locker rooms are not terribly clean and the sauna is small and not well-maintained. It's OK if there is nothing else but in the public sector, Tully Park at N. Great place! Indoor and outdoor pools. One of the only indoor pools around. Good place for the family. The food selection is not very good.

Love Echo Park. The pool is well maintained. The facility also has a steam room and a sauna room that you so you can use relax. We usually use the indoor poor as well as the outdoor (in season). It is really good that our community have a pool so convenience, that you don't have to travel far for a stay-cation. The also offer summing classes free up to level 4. read more

The indoor pool of the complex was wonderful. The pools were pretty warm. The main pool is pretty shallow which is perfect for the kids. The diving pool ranges from 8 feet to 12 feet which is the perfect amount for also the little lap section which was free to the kids with the lifeguards right there. The kiddie section was very safe. I love this pool and the prices are really good. We were there for almost five hours. Hope to go again very soon. read more

The complex itself is ok but the water is ALWAYS very cold for no reason and you feel it more in the winter.

pool ladder taken down at deep end of echo pool for summer...i can't get out of pool with ladder in front...im to weak...i would offer to buy extra ladder..for deep end...its that important to me...i now have to use the pool chair to get out of pool...its no fun getting old...and there are a lot of us that would love to see that ladder back in the deep end...ive been coming to pool for many years...this is first time i cant get out of pool comfortably...so sorry because i really need the pool at my age which is 80... read more
