We moved to NC last Fall into a house that surprisingly included a host of unwanted 'tenants' who thought they owned the place. When my sister arrived with some pizza and cookies to celebrate our new home and help us with the unpacking, I was shocked to see the box of cookies entirely swarming with ants before we even got to have one (and they were such good cookies). Suddenly it was as if our kitchen might be carried away... entire colonies of ants trailed all over the floors, walls, and counters. We followed their lines through the dining room, to the stairs, and all around the entryway wall too. They seemed to be everywhere, yet coming from nowhere. That night, I also began seeing roaches everywhere...having one scurry off my bed the next morning! I declared WAR. That was the LAST roach to ever share my bed! With help from fellow yelp reviews, it was clear to see that Clear Defense needed to be my first phone call. I have not been disappointed. They came right out and addressed my ant and roach problem, targeting areas in the yard where they seemed to be coming from. If you hate bugs, and I HATE bugs, you need these guys. The results were in keeping with what they explained, almost immediate, and have proven effective over time as well. The techs have always been a welcome presence in our home: jovial and personal, yet professional, knowledgable, and efficient. We started out with what really was, all hyperbole aside, an overwhelming pest problem, which included our yard. I appreciate that Clear Defense includes thorough, environmentally sensitive treatments for keeping our yard free of fleas and ticks so I know my dog and our kids can enjoy the yard. Most other pest control companies I have used in the past include coverage around the exterior of the house to keep pests from coming in. But this is the first time I've seen a company treat the entire lawn, shrubs, and beneath trees for fleas and ticks. If you have any other issue with certain pests in your yard, only say the word and they will tend to it, all while explaining to you an encyclopedia-worthy account about that species. Our current tech, Ryan, is fast becoming like a favorite cousin who stops by once in a while and helps us out. I really appreciate this company for their effectiveness, professionalism, and personable treatment. They really want us to enjoy living in our home and avoid any further issues. The cost to maintain a contract is comparable to other companies I have used in other states and they put technology to good use in maintaining communication and an easy to follow payment structure. Really, no one should ever spend even one night sleeping with roaches when these guys are a phone call away. read more

Unfortunately, I have had cause to require pest control services during the pandemic, at 2 different homes: previously in Durham, now in CH/Pittsboro area. Since I hired them in 2020 to present, I've had top notch service 95% percent of the time. At my then Durham-rental, where I had German roaches and a flea infestation due to failed pet flea control, Brandon Oakley on the ground and Pierre via phone were both immensely helpful, each on multiple occasions. Pierre was a tremendous support when I called him distressed about the flea infestation--he walked me through thorough education about fleas, interventions, what to expect, and fantastically, it was included in my existing contract. At this old and poorly maintained rental, I once found a cockroach in my bed, called ClearDefense immediately (while distressed) and they sent someone out IMMEDIATELY--as in within a few hours that SAME day! About 6 months ago, we moved to a country house and learning from our previous experiences, hired clear defense preventively. ROB C has been out at least 2x for us now (including today!) and has been awesome. He's really even-keel and calm, but also very knowledgeable and personable. Previously, he's been out for our quarterly and some ants that won't quit in our owner's bath. He was such a champ last time and really rolled with it--we had a contractor in our bathroom (where the ants were) and he was super willing to work with and around our contractor, as well as head down to the crawl space (major points in my book). This week, in addition to the ants migrating, and a mouse and multiple roach sightings indoors, I called Clear Defense to come out again and sent ROB given his existing knowledge of our property and pest history. He thoroughly addressed indoor and outdoor sources, for all 3 pest problems, educated me throughout his visit per my request, and also, at my request, gave us some pointers for home owner intervention and prevention. He also loves snakes and is really fun to talk to about them, if you're interested or curious. He spent an hour with me--truly incredibly helpful and thorough. What can't I say here? John-Mark was incredible! This company goes above and beyond when it comes to customer service, or should I say customer PEACE OF MIND. I had called yesterday and spoke with John-Mark about a potential mouse problem in the new home ( actually a very old house) we're in the process of moving into, and of course when I called I was rather panicky about the prospects of living along side of unwanted pests. Especially after I had spent the last 48 hours cleaning and bleaching the kitchen alone. He was very reassuring that they would be able to get out to the house with in the next 24 hours and sure enough they did! John-Mark was actually my Technician today as well. He answered every question I had, and was extremely knowledgeable! Not only that, but he was super thorough, and attentive. He even helped my move a few old boxes from beneath the stairs, and then proceeded to vacuum out the little gifts the mice had left behind for me! The product they use is actually plant based, which is amazing, and has no odor or color and dried completely within 30 minutes. After he sprayed the inside of the house, he went around to all of the outside awnings, trees etc and knocked down a ton of spider webs. *I am terrified of spiders* I was nearly in shock when he said he had killed a large female black widow under the grill that was on the back porch, and sprayed her nest as to be sure that nothing else would hatch. He also took the time to explain the 'flushing process' and what is normal to see after your first spraying, which I am grateful for, or I would have been calling all freaked out! I could go on, and on.. I am so happy that I called this company, I am blown away by their business practices and professionalism, and passion for keeping your home pest free. The value of the services rendered is amazing, so much so that I decided to pay for the Mosquito Management service as well out of my own pocket (the property owner is paying for the pest control). I wanted to wait to post my review until the initial and follow-up services were completed. I'm happy to say that both services went well and the results were outstanding. I initially contacted ClearDefense to service the home I just moved into. My wife and I had discovered several spiders, roaches, and other insects roaming around our house. My intitial research for a pest control company returned highly rated reviews for ClearDefense with special notes for attention to detail and environmental awareness. Ben M. completed our initial treatment. Ben explained what each treatment was, where it would be applied, and what it would target. He thouroughly treated all areas of our home in addition to three feet around the perimeter. He was a champ for taking care of us on some of the warmest days of the year. After the treatment, we spotted a few, young roaches in our home but, they had crawled out die after coming into contact with the treatments Ben made. After a few days, we didn't spot anymore pests roaming our home. 30 days later, Aaron M. came out to complete our follow-up treatment. Again, everything was explained in detail and we did a walk around the home to review what was done. Aaron pointed out that I had left our utility closet locked and inquired as to whether or not it should be treated. It seems like an insignificant detail but I appreciate his vigilance to see the job all the way through instead of dismissing that area and not treating it. I could not be more satisfied with this company and team. Though I don't expect that we'll see any pests in our home, it's reassuring to know that ClearDefense will come out and retreat the home, for free, if they do resurface between quarterly services. read more

I rarely write reviews so you know this must be really good or really bad. Thankfully, this review is going to give Clear Defense Pest Control an awesome review! A friend referred us a few months back but we had already scheduled a service with another company. The other company came out and provided their services and were on their way. About two weeks after that service we noticed the critters (roaches and spiders mainly) coming right back out. Soon the spider webs were taking over, so despite having just paid $$ to the other company, we bucked up and called Clear Defense. We IMMEDIATELY noticed a difference. Little dead bug bodies everywhere within a matter of days. This service was on 04Sep2013 and we are still seeing the after affects of a job well done. Looking back we never noticed any sort of 'remains' after the first company sprayed. If your only looking at the bottom line you may think that they are a bit more than other services. However, if you look across the board at what Clear Defense offers you are getting way more bang for your buck. For example, after the first service they come out a month later to do another service, they clean out spider webs, they do crawl spaces, they LISTEN to what your problems are. If it's possible to be excited about a pest control service than shop no further because you will be satisfied with not only the job on site but the customer service provided before, during and after the service. We were burned with our last pest control company, having to do treatments between services, so I was very apprehensive, but trusted so many 5 star reviews. Also, all of my friends who use them have had nothing but positive things to say about them. We live in a heavily wooded neighborhood, so having a pest service that also treats for mosquitos was very important to us. We also had tons of spiders and recently MICE. Jacob, the technician that came out to help was polite, concise, knowledgeable, and very helpful. He knew what he was doing, and put me at ease, especially about the mosquitoes and the mice. He put bait that dehydrates the mice upstairs and showed me how to check to see if the mice were eating it or not. He also told me that they also put one in the crawl space, and I could check it if I wanted, but that they would be checking it when they came back next month. We were not thrilled about moving from a quarterly payment service to a monthly payment service, but for us, you pay for what you get. Not pulling spiders off of my car, child, or out of my kitchen every day is worth it to me! Being able to enjoy my porch in the summer without being a mosquito's paradise, is worth it to me. Being able to sleep peacefully knowing that if mice come in they won't be here long, is worth it to me. This will not be the cheapest option, but it will be the most cost efficient for the degree of thorough services and quality people they hire. Clear Defense came to our rescue again. We spied a brave mouse in our house (ewww) 5 days before we were about to have 35 people at our house for a birthday party. The thought of having the furry houseguest around for that made my stomach lurch. I called Clear Defense at 3:30 on Monday afternoon and Josh was at our house at 8:15 the next morning. He put down numerous glue traps and snap traps. I would have been pleased with this service. He then took his flashlight and started looking under the appliances where I had spied the mouse. He thought he saw it under our fridge and used a long piece of plastic to try to guide the mouse out onto the glue trap barrier he set up. The mouse did in fact come out and ran to a closet where he set up a glue trap barrier again. The chase then continued back to the kitchen where the mouse stayed put under the fridge. He then apologized for not being able to catch the mouse. My husband and i were both just impressed that he took an extra 30 minutes trying to catch the mouse while he was there on top of laying all of the traps. My story had a happy ending (for me, not the mouse) when at about 3:30 that afternoon, I found the little furry intruder in one of the traps. I appreciate good service when I see it, and am very pleased with ClearDefense. So far, so good. We are new residents in the Knightdale Station community, and have been approached by several pest control companies. ClearDefense is the only company we seriously considered, based on courtesy shown by the representative (Alex B.) who knocked on our door earlier this month, a similarly positive experience when I called the company for more information, and on the many positive reviews from experienced Yelp reviewers. A one year commitment (initial service plus four quarterly visits) seemed reasonable, and our neighbors were already pleased with the company. Our initial service was today, in the early evening. Philip H., our technician, was on time, pleasant, and attentive to detail. After he finished the interior, he thoroughly treated the full exterior of the home (plus garage), and sprayed the upper portions of our home with a truck mounted pump. He then manually cleared webs from the exterior. After all that, and what had surely been a long hot day, he was still representing his employer in an excellent manner. If this is any indication of how this company relates to its customers (and I have no reason to doubt that so far), can highly recommend them! read more

Had a different pest control service that was fine before ClearDefense came and knocked on my door. But after a few minutes and an offer to beat their current rate, decided maybe it was worth the trouble. I am so glad I switched. This is a pest control service actually advocates for you. Its always custom. They ask me which products I'm comfortable with at each servicing. They are very thorough and we remain pest free without clunky traps that my cats get stuck in. The professionalism of this group is what really sets them apart. From the young man that came to the door and sold me my service to the technicians I see each quarter (or in between). Aaron Metz is my usual technician and he is aces. (Come on...who ever knows the name of their pest control tech?! This company is vastly different.) He is efficient, courteous and extremely knowledgeable. I never get the feeling they are looking to cram in another service and be on their way. Aaron has gone above and beyond a few times like when he noticed I had new mulch laid down. He knocked on the door and asked if he could stay a little longer and treat the new mulch (BTW - its all part of your plan...no additional cost). Strongly recommend this company! read more

After years of putting up with shoddy service from Terminix, we decided to make the switch to ClearDefense. Holy moly, what a difference! We live in the woods and some bugs are to be expected, but when the tech doesn't even give notice they are coming or do the entire back side of a huge house, it shows-- ants, spiders, roaches, weird unidentifiable creepies and even a black widow! Yeeek! Clear Defense doesn't let ANY of that happen. They did such a thorough job on the initial treatment--even spraying eaves and overhangs. They did the garage. They did the screened porch. They did the inside. They didn't miss a thing and what we really don't miss are the bugs! Even after it rains, the ants don't bother coming in our house anymore. Kevin and Brandon have both done a great job of explaining what they were doing, taking their time and doing the job right. The pricing and record of what has been done is clear and well-documented in the customer portal and we really appreciate being able to stop guessing what's around the corner when we walk into a room! Before using Clear Defense Pest Control I used many other companies.They all left me disappointed and I started taking care of the bugs myself but I needed someone professional to go in nooks and crannies. So after my failed effort to keep up with the pests. I had no choice but to pray for a company who will provide the professional and effective service. I called Clear Defense Pest Control . MY experience with them from the first phone call to the day of service been excellent. They kept me updated on their exact time of arrival. When Brian came in the house to spray he was so informative and polite. He told me of the ants that I didn't even know were creating a hill. He took care of the hornets nests which I thought was at one location but there were several. Two salesmen came by last night and got on their hands and knees to show me some problem areas......areas my current pest control company never showed me; sure enough there were a few black widow spiders! I never even knew I had spiders in my conditioned crawl space let alone the most dangerous spider in the US. The salesman were honest, sincere and passionate about their product and company - I signed up immediately and the technician was out the next day! The Tech, John, was early and very professional. He explained everything he was going to do and went right at it. I saw him spray inside the house (only need inside treatment once), and then went all over the outside taking care of webs, spraying around the house and of course in the two areas I had the black widow spiders. They also knocked down a couple of wasp nests along the way. John answered all questions and was very friendly as I questioned him on the pest control he was doing. He spent probably close to an hour with our first visit. I felt like John and Clear Defense took the time to know my issues and then took care of them. I used a different pest company for about 3 years until a Clear Defense associate nocked on my door. I told him we already had a pest company so he asked if we had seen any pests, I said "yes but I can call them to come back", he asked "does that usually resolved the issue", I embarrassingly said "not usually", and his last comment got me "then why do you keep using them?" Good point! We were moving into a new home and I thought it would be a good time to also change pest companies. The difference with service, results, and overall satisfaction is profound. We have had 3 services so far with 2 different techs who were both very knowledgeable. They remove all cob webs (yes even the 3rd story eaves!), treat inside and out, and even handle mice! Today Aaron Metz was our tech, he took extra time to help with our new mice problem and provide some education on the issues and solutions. Aaron also was meticulous about removing every single cobweb - I didn't see one tiny web anywhere after he was finished. I called ClearDefense to help with some pest issues we were experiencing in our new house on Tuesday and by Friday our problems were solved. The service technician, Nathan McEwen, did an outstanding job. He was very friendly, courteous, & knowledgeable. He took his time explaining to me everything he was going to do in my house and why each procedure was to be done. He explained the different products that were to be used and why he used those products. He answered all of my questions. While he performed the treatments he took his time and he was extremely thorough. We have used other pest control companies over the years, and most of them very casually spray around the baseboards treating far less than 1/2 of the exposed baseboards. Nathan completely treated every exposed portion of all baseboards inside the house on all interior & exterior walls even reaching behind furniture to be as thorough as possible. His applications outside the house were equally thorough. He obviously takes pride in doing a good job. I ran a small business for 35 years before I retired, and Nathan has the type of work ethic and interpersonal skills that would make any employer want him as an employee. I will request for Nathan to be the technician when my next application is due. read more

My house is sitting on a colony of about 100 billion ants. No matter how clean I kept the kitchen (bleached the counters and floors daily, sealed up all food in bags, etc) they would come in by the hundreds each day. I foam-sealed the exterior of the house, caulked all the gaps I could find inside, and tried a lot of other options (borax, diatomaceous earth, different types of ant poison, etc etc) and it didn't make a difference, still had ants coming in constantly. I called Clear Defense and talked to a guy (not sure if he was a tech or sales rep) who did a great job explaining exactly how their treatment process works, took time to answer all my questions in detail, with no pressure at all. A week after the first service we had ZERO ants in the house. It went from a daily battle to something I don't even think about now. Money well-spent. Any time I've had a question or concern, they've been easy to get in touch with, and every tech that I've talked to has been attentive, professional, and shown a high level of knowledge in the chemicals and techniques that they use. Great service. On time. Got the job done quickly and got on to the next one. These are my first impressions of Clear Defense Pest Control and in particular Quinton Carter, my pest control technician. Obviously he's done this a lot because there was very little wasted effort. Quinton got to work and knew exactly what to do. I really liked that he was polite but knew there was a job to do and got down to business without a lot of talk. I was impressed that he worked around my messy house and never seemed to be care about the mess. The service was a huge success. I moved in two months ago and the previous owner never had a service. I've seen a few crickets and big roaches in on occasion and wanted them gone! Quinton came around 4:00 and by 10pm I noticed a dead roach in the hall. By the next afternoon when I got home there were 7 of the bastards laying around dead. I didn't know I had a problem until I had a treatment. We have used many pest controls services, but Clear Defense is by far the best we have ever used! I have recommended these people to everyone I know! Usually we would have to have the bug man come out and spray the inside of the house multiple times, and then almost like clockwork, the bugs would come crawling right back in the second the month was up. NOT with these guys! I'm telling you, I don't see a single bug in my house! And haven't needed them to spray the inside of my house in years. They keep the bugs off the outside of my house so well that the bugs never have a chance to enter. I enjoy their mosquito service as well! But by far the best part of this company is the customer service and their amazing technicians. I have never worked with such kind technicians. Every single one is so kind and attentive to our needs. We recently had Branden Oakley at the house for the mosquito service. He was so kind and asked us what we need or if we have had any issue areas. Philip at ClearDefense Pest Control showed up today to do a routine maintenance service for pests. He exhibited very good customer service and communication skills, by notifying me in advance of his visit, so we could make arrangements for pets, and then notified us when he arrived at our property. On his visit, he cleared all windows of webs, treated for pest prevention and then asked if we needed any additional, indoor, garage or basement treatments. He patiently answered my questions about common pests and their habits and let us know to give them a call if we had any other questions or concerns. The communication and willingness to reach out to me to ask me how ClearDefense Pest Control and he could assist us is a great skill set tool that makes the customer, in this case me, feel like I am getting value for my home visits. By the way, we also don't have any issues with spiders and mosquitoes like we did in the past.
