I just got my old pool pump replaced by Clear Expectations. I got three quotes quickly from Clear Expectations, one for replacing just the motor of the old pump, one for replacing the whole pump with a mid level pump, the last one for replacing the the whole pump with a high end pump, which enabled me to make an informed decision. Scheduling the repair service was smooth and easy even considering the rainy days that had complicated the scheduling. The tech arrived on time, was very courteous and professional. The existing PVC pipe somehow expanded just slightly enough through years of usage that it couldn't fit with the new pump's pipe. The tech had to cut out the whole section between the filter and the pump and replaced it with new PVC pipe to make it work. I am very satisfied with the works done and the pleasant service I received from Kendra and the tech. Now I am all ready for the summer pool fun time. read more

Matt is great. Troy is great. Customer focused. My project required insurance approval - not an easy task! Lengthy process. Long wait calls. Too many questions to answer. Matt did not give up to obtain the final approval. Troy did a good job with the repairs. I will use them again. read more

They are very professional, and our pool has been super clean and good looking. While my husband was out on the road during the hot summer of 2015, I really needed a help cleaning and maintaining the pool. I am so glad that Yelp had reviews on pool maintenance. It was easy decision to call Clear Expectations after reading some good reviews. There always be some negative ones whether they are legitimate or not. The first phone conversation already gave me a good feel about the business, and the rep who came over completely impressed me with knowledge and professionalism. I received a quote email right away, signed the contract, the maintenance started, and all is well. We've just had lights replaced in the pool by Clear Expectations since Sun Pool & Spa Supply failed to complete the warranty work. (It's a long story to be written on the latter's review...) I've received estimate for the lights the next day, and they were very good at answering all my questions. The installer came right after signing the contract, and the installation was done very quickly. The lights are working beautifully, and we ave very happy. I will try to upload some pics later! read more

My pool had stopped working for a couple of weeks. I called Clear Expectations and Matt - the owner - came out personally to see what was causing the stoppage. I had electrical and plumbing issues on my older pool/spa/waterfall, and have had 2 other pool repair companies out that could not even diagnose the problem....let alone solve them.. After googling and calling several others, I was having trouble finding a company that would come out for an electrical issue. Many didnt have office staff or return messages, and of the ones that did say they did pool repairs on their websites, they actually wouldnt unless they were doing a full remodel. I finally looked on Jandy's website to find an authorized repair company and Clear Expectations was the only one that answered their phone. They were professional, listened to the issues, and set an appointment with me for between 7am-8am. Based on experience with others I have had, I expected a no-show or a call putting off the appointment. Instead, Matt showed up at 7:20am as promised. He was extremely professional, personable, and knowledgeable. Witihn the hour he was there, he not only diagnosed the problems but he ALSO fixed a few of them right on the spot. He then stayed longer and answered multiple questions that didnt even benefit him. They didnt even charge me for the hour! I dont ever do Yelp reviews, but my experience with this company and with Matt in particular was so great, that I wanted to share this info and give them an excellent review. read more

Matt and his team at Clear Expectations clearly went above and beyond expectations on the resurfacing work they completed on my pool. They completed the work punctually and left me with a truly spectacular pool that is a marvel to look at let alone swim in. Matt was extremely attentive to all details along the way and the entire process was excellent. I can honestly say they were a pleasure to work with. I would also recommend seriously thinking about mini pebble over alternative surfaces. I would not hesitate to use Clear Expectations for any similar pool work in the future and to recommend them to anyone contemplating a new pool surfacing job. In retrospect I think the price paid was extremely well spent. In addition, they perform excellent weekly pool servicing-my pool is in excellent hands and I never have to worry about it. read more

We have found these guys reliable, reasonable, honest, & extremely helpful. It can get stressful managing the upkeep and maintenance of our pool, and these guys always do a great job with whatever issues seem to pop up at the worst of times. Responsive, knowledgeable, hard working, excellent service. Matt tested components of our aging system, diagnosed our pump and filter problem, and cleaned our neglected circulation over the holidays. Two other pool services didn't respond to our inquiries. Pricing was lower than expected for five star quality. read more

Kevin came and diagnosed within 5 minutes the air leaks in the pump system that the previous company wouldn't remedy in 8 months. He had it fixed within the week. Clear Expectations - Thanks Clear Expectations for a clear, well-running pool. Taken 6 days after their weekly visit and it still looks good! - Pool Cleaners Near Me - San Diego, California

Clear expectations has been Servicing my pool for a few years now and I have been extremely pleased. They are professional, well priced and honest about any work that needs to be done. Recently I needed my pool resurfaced and asked Matt about the job, I was able to review the project with matt on 4 separate occasions in person at my house before we even decided to go with his company. He walked me through each step and explained the entire process. After receiving other bids and dealing with other contractors, going with Clear Expectations was an easy choice. Most important of all the pool turned out perfect. Customer service, delivering on their word and the final result was all top notch. read more

I can't begin to explain how thankful I am to have come across Clear Expectations and their team of experts. I have had such a great experience from the moment I called in to request a quote. Their staff is professional and is always ready to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Their service technicians are always polite and patient enough to take the time to explain things about my pool equipment that I don't understand. I had a terrible experience with the last pool service company I used and these guys took the initiative to get my pool back to normal as quickly as possible and then some! read more

We needed a partial rebuild of our pool and spa. We got several estimates and easily chose Clear Expectations to be our contractor. Clear expectations planned and built a new pool in our backyard. They were professional, on time and were very good to work with. Construction began early in May. We were swimming mid July. My wife and I met with many pool builders. The bids were all fairly consistent. Our final choice came down to the fact that Matt was reasonable and responsive. He was a really good guy to work with. For us, this is very large and expensive project. We knew there would be bumps in the road. We for sure wanted someone who was good to work with and would not nickel and dime everything along the way. Matt continually kept us in the loop and construction progressed fairly quickly. All of the subcontractors that clear expectations uses were polite and respectful. In the end, we have a beautiful pool that got a lot of use this summer. Our family loves it. *update: A few rust spots began to form on our pebble finish. We called Matt and within a few days a crew came over and fixed them. read more

Great company to work with! Ours was not an easy job - bring an old pool up to code and install a new heater. Matt and his team rose to the challenge and did an outstanding job! Clear Expectations has been providing our weekly pool service for several years now so when our 20 year old pool needed a facelift, they were an easy choice. Matt was easy to work with, knowledgeable, and kept us apprised of each step along the way. He stayed within our budget while offering us a range of options. The pebble stone finish along with the stackstone surrounding our spa is beautiful. We are looking forward to a summer spent around our "new" pool!!! read more

We had pool service with Clear Expectations for some time and had communication issues. We discontinued service with ample notice and a week later they sent out our pool technician. Case in point, Clear Expectations does not communicate well with their customers or their technicians. I felt bad because the technician was dispatched to clean our pool on the 4th of July and had no notification the service had been discontinued. The technician was very nice. Communication should be on the top of the list anytime you deal with customers. read more

Clear Expectations does NOT do the service that the owner personally guaranteed me. They seem to consistently send a different tech...whom often is in the learning stage. The pool has algae buildup and repeated emails to owner for a remedy go unanswered. I was promised that an experienced tech would be assigned to my pool and that he would not be rotated out...which seems not true. I am on what II think is my 4th tech to date and my pool has never looked worse. The tech spends just minutes at the site. The company has no problem scheduling services (filter cleaning etc) and billing immediately but does not respond to customer issues. They also charge you for the weeks during thanksgiving and christmas for service that they don't provide..so you end up paying for a two week vacation for the staff. I cannot recommend this pool service to anyone. read more

After 6 phone calls, 20 emails, 5 weeks, and one on site visit (after 4 weeks) to my home for a pool replumbing and replaster I am told by owner Matt that he is temporarily unable to provide replaster quotes due to sub contractor reliability issues. If Clear Expectations can contact me when they are again able to provide quotes I will update this review... Note that despite the time issue and outcome they handled the situation professionally and their receptionist was always responsive. read more

Had to part ways with this company today. They told me my heater was broken and that they'd gladly replace it for an over priced fee. I had a second opinion on it and it fired right up. They also flooded the backyard of a house I am trying to sell by leaving the pool water on. They should rename themselves, "Low Expectations" read more

Would highly recommend going with any another pool service company. The only 'clear expectation' you will have with them is to have a pool filled with algae and a non responsive staff who refuses to return emails and phone calls regarding same. If I could give zero stars, I would. read more

Super impressed with this company. I have been using them for over a year now to service my pool and spa. In that time, the pool has been rock solid. I have not had any flare ups on algae, or chemical levels. It's been consistently clean and comfortable. Everyone employee I have dealt with has been extremely friendly and professional. The Tech who services our pool every week is really good. Shows up every week, same day, same time, without fail and is very thorough - no cutting corners. I've had a few things happen with my equipment and they have quickly fixed. This company really goes above and beyond so I highly recommend. read more

Clear Expectations gets a 5 star review from me for several reasons. When I called to discuss my wants and needs with a pool cleaning service, the staff was so professional and attentive that I instantly felt like this was a company that would treat me as a close client and just not another number. To personally meet the owners and have them assess what was needed to keep my pool top notch was also an added benefit. Since having Clear Expectations, my pool has never looked better (even with all the wind daily we have been getting) and I am constantly being complimented by others for how it looks. There was an issue a couple months back with my filter, and on a Saturday, the owner came to replace it with a smile on his face. Those are the kind of people that i choose to surround myself with and the reason I felt it was needed to write a review. I recommend this company to anyone who takes pride in their pool the way that I do:) read more

I hired Clear Expectations, based on the great reviews, to install a new pool pump. At first they were great, they took care of the installation quickly and at a fair price (for that, they get 2 stars). However, when some problems started arising with the pump, everything changed. I started calling and e-mailing them regarding a leak, at the beginning it took various calls and days of waiting to hear back from them. Finally, they came back to "fix" the leak; but whatever they did, it didn't work. After more than a month, the pump is still leaking and I cannot get them to answer my calls or messages; even though I have e-mailed the owner directly a number of times. My intention was to keep this company as my weekly service, but after my experience, I will definitely look for someone else to do my cleaning and to fix what they wouldn't. read more

STAY AWAY! THEY WILL WAY BLEED YOU DRY & OVERCHARGE! STAY AWAY! NOTHING BUT HEADACHES!!!! AGGRAVATION. As was the case mentioned by another below...I was recently told my pump broke and because I chose to order one online (not cheap $1,200) and get repairs done without using their company they have since been trying to recoup their money EVERY which way possible including NOT sending the normal pool guy to do the start up which was already agreed to and paid for UNLESS a new increased rate contract is signed. What a shame! Not to mention they quoted me $8,000 for stone repair that I was able to get done for $2,000. AND they wanted $500 to fill my pool. A job The requires putting in a hose and turning it on. It's a Friday afternoon in July and I'm going on 3 months of no pool usage thanks to Clear Expectations. It's Clear they expect their High end clients to pay HIGH COSTS. Bad business. Very Bad. Please save yourself the aggravation. I've been so patient and they have taken total advantage of my kindness. read more

I have an issue with my brand new pool lights, which haven't work a day since they were professionally installed (they were not installed by Clear Expectations, so no fault of theirs). However, Clear Expectations is the warranty company who is supposed to replace them for the manufacturer. It took over a week to get a call back from them, and I finally spoke to a gentleman there last Thursday. I explained to him that I have been trying to get this issue resolved for over a week, and no one has called me back. The gentleman assured me this was the first he had heard of the situation, he would be ordering the new lights as soon as we got off the phone, and he stated he would be at my house on Monday. He further stated he'd call me on Monday morning to let me know what time he'd be arriving. I had to work on Monday (today), so my dad came to my house at 9:00 am to wait for the pool guy to arrive. At 11:25 am, when I still hadn't heard anything from the gentleman at Clear Expectations, I called and left a message on his cell phone. At 1:50 pm, I still hadn't heard anything, so I called and left another message. I then called his office, and the lady said she would try to call him, since he still hadn't arrived at my house. Shortly thereafter, I sent a follow up text message requesting an update as to when he would be arriving. Finally, at 3:10 pm, I received a text message from him saying he apologizes but he had an employee get hurt and he wouldn't be coming today. He also stated in his text, "I am going to order two new lights". In my return text, I said I accept your apology, but I wish you would've let me know sooner. This is frustrating because my dad has been waiting at my house all day for you to arrive. I also stated that I thought he was ordering my lights on Thursday when we got off the phone, which is what he had previously said. He responded back "My employees are important to my business and they WERE ordered". Well I hope and understand that your employees are important to your business, as they should be, but what about your customers and the time they spend waiting for you to arrive? I guess that is not important? I'm not sure what time the employee got injured, and I understand things happen, however; I would've appreciated a text as soon as he knew he wasn't going to make it to my house, not at 3:10 pm. Especially since he told me on Thursday he'd be calling me Monday morning. And, if the lights were ordered on Thursday, why did you say in your text "I am going to order the lights". That sounds to me like the lights have not yet been ordered. This is my first experience with Clear Expectations, but it hasn't been a positive one thus far. read more

After working with the larger pool companies around San Diego, it was great to find Matt and the folks at Clear Expectations. Personal attention, thoughtful/detailed quotation and excellent execution - that's about all one can ask for in a service provider. We had mineral blasting to clean the water line and tile repaired/replaced in the hot tub - great job and we'll come back again. I wish the team the best of luck and hope you give the "big guys" a run for their money! read more

Clear Expectations is the best pool service company I have ever used. I worked with about 3 other companies before them and they are night and day above the rest. They are so responsive and Shawn and the team are fantastic, honest, and on top of it! It's nice to have a reliable company for regular service, however the true test is when you need help in a hurry and this is what sets them apart. I've had several concerns that came up and they literally had someone out there the same day to diagnose and give me an honest assessment. The other thing I like and respect about them is they have never tried to up-sell me, they give me the options, tell me the benefits of each and help me decide which one is best for my needs. Those are the types of people I like working with. If you choose them, you will be happy! I certainly am! read more

A few months after my first review, I hired Clear Expectations to replace my pool pump motor and once again their service was excellent. Their price was reasonable and they were at my place within 2 days of my inquiry. Kendra was super helpful when I called way after normal business hours. She took my payment over the phone and scheduled my appointment for the very next day. Their tech Jamie was courteous, knowledgeable, professional and FAST! Hats off to the owner Matt for making my job a priority. My new pump motor is whisper quiet so not only do I thank Clear Expectations, but so do my neighbors - great job guys! read more

WOW, absolute pleasure working with these guys. Very professional and courteous service. I wanted my single speed pool pump changed out to a variable speed, found one on Amazon for an excellent price and then looked around for someone to install it. Found Clear Expectations online and decided to email them for a quote....which came back to me in no time and very reasonable. Matt answered a ton of questions I had over email in a very responsive fashion and also alerted me to a SDGE rebate on the pump I had. Shaun came by exactly on time and did a great job installing the pump and fixing some of the tubing to the filter. I couldn't be happier, top notch service and definitely my go to guys the next time I need help with the pool. read more

No choice but to give 5 stars. Matt, Kevin, and Kendra are all very professional and patient when it comes to a pool dummy (me). Communication is great, prices are comparable to all other pool places, actually he was a little cheaper than a couple other quotes on monthly service. They have been a joy to work with and I hope it stays that way. After reading the sketchy review about pool companies, its refreshing to have a company that emails and texts, you gotta keep up with the times. BTW the pool looks immaculate and I owe it all to the crew. Thanks again guys! read more

Clear Expectations has been servicing a pool at one of our rental properties for 3 years and it has been nothing but a positive experience. The staff is knowledgeable, professional, and reliable. In addition to regular cleaning and maintenance, they have also done diagnostics and repairs to the pool heater (gas valve and control module). He was very transparent and communicated with me every step of the repair process! He ordered my part, being an older spa he really had to call numerous suppliers, kept me in the loop of lead times so I could share with my tenants and gave me an expected repair date!
