I recently bought a used car at Clay Cooley Hyundai in Terrell. It was a superb experience. I came in to the dealership just before they closed for the day, but they stayed late in order to process my paperwork and complete the sale. Wesley, the manager, and Daylon, the sales person, were both very helpful and low pressure. I was buying the car for my son, and I didn't realize that my son would have to sign the paperwork in order to have his name placed on the title. Daylon voluntarily drove all the way out to my house the next day to have my son sign the papers. Both men bent over backwards to make me satisfied. DEFINITELY A FIVE STAR DEALERSHIP!!! read more

Having recently purchased an Elantra for my son at another dealership, I have used Clay Cooley a couple of time for service/repair with disastrous results. My first visit was to get an extra key made. I had the digital key FOB, but it had to be programmed and laser cut. After charging $180, I discover they didn't cut the key, and sent me on a wild goose chase to other dealers all over the DFW area to get the key cut......at an additional charge. I had the smarts to call these places before I drove an hour in each direction, and none of them could cut the key. Ended up having to go to a locksmith at my expense to get the key cut, which doubled the cost. The second (and my final visit) was to get a 32k mile service done, which is listed on Hyundai Bluelink at $149.95. This basically is an oil change, tire rotation, and cabin air filter replacement, with checks on other systems. I called prior to arrival and asked for the 32k mi service appt. When I arrived, the same idiot that had screwed up my key replacement was there in service, but another service tech had my appt. About 20 mins after arrival, I got a text that said my car was ready. I went to the service dept and was presented with an invoice for an oil change. I told the service tech that my appt was for a 32k mi service that included several other items. About an hour later, I was told my car was ready, and was presented with a bill for a 30k mi service (not 32k mi) for $377. As soon as I questioned the bill, the idiot I had dealt with previously started making excuses for the additional charges and made it clear that if I didn't pay what they invoiced, I wouldn't get my car back. It was nothing short of extortion......and of course I went off on him verbally. I'm sure my comments were heard all over the dealership......and as I left, the manager came running back to the service dept., but didn't attempt to question me on what was going on. Funny thing is that while I was waiting for my car, a lady I had seen in the waiting area was chewing the manager's ass for what she said "was the worst service she had ever experienced in a dealership", and finished with "she would never buy a vehicle there". I filed complaints with the dealership and Hyundai NA, but neither have responded.......and I don't expect they ever will. Better stay away from this place unless you like extortion and pitiful service. I still haven't decided if what happened to me was intentional or just plain lack of attention/stupidity. I feel it was intentional because as soon as I questioned the bill, I got immediate excuses and was told "pay the bill or the car doesn't leave here"........was far too quick with the extortion comment to not have been intentional. read more

FINANCING? BEWARE AND INFORMED!!! I feel like I was Railroaded into financing with their financial institution do to the finance guy. He violated my rights by running my credit without MY permission. I came with my own credit approval and was ready to buy. The manager and the Sales person were told NOT to run credit or finance anywhere else. They did not try to change my finance with Capitol One The financial officer did it on his own to make his bonus. Somehow my Capitol One rates were affected by his actions and caused my loan to be messed up. Apparently someone was added on to my loan application which increased my RISK? I didn't/t do it. That leaves only one person who could have. The FCRA says your RIGHTS ARE VIOLATED when this happens. Running your credit without your permission IS ILLEGAL and he got paid for it. I had to use Hyundai Financing to get the car I had already drove home in. BEWARE!!!!! read more
