He spent a good bit of time trying to get my laptop to boot up and eventually removed the hard drive and battery to take them to his home workshop so he could retrieve my info and put it on my thumb drive. He rang me in the evening to say that sadly the hard drive was corrupt and couldn't be accessed. The battery had begun to bow upward, so it was a goner too. In his opinion the 7 year old machine wasn't worth fixing because at that age things would just keep going wrong. Kinda like a used car. In the end he didn't charge me a penny because he wasn't able to fix my machine! How often does that happen?!! Before taking my stereo receiver into Doctor Video I called repair shops in Northern VA, Richmond, and Roanoke, all of which quoted me more than $100 to replace a piece of hardware that costs less than $3 online. Mike at Doctor Video was very reasonable to deal with; I spent less than $50 getting the issue fixed and had the pleasure of some of the best customer service from a repair shop in my life. My only gripe was that the repair took a bit long however in the grand scheme of things, I would rather wait an extra few weeks for the repair to be finished than pay more than double the price to shops with rude technicians or poorly experienced repairmen. If I am ever in need of electronic repair in the area I will absolutely be bringing my business here.
