Patsy Spencer Vipperman · Shared with Public This is a recommendation for anybody with computer problems in or near Roanoke. Commonwealth Computer Services came to my aide this past week when I had 2 serious problems. For the first, I called and made an appointment for someone to come to my house. I was sent a picture of the tech who would come, he arrived at the appointed time and did a terrific job. Two days later when it appeared I had been scammed online, I called and the same tech arrived in less than an hour. He checked everything over, found nothing amiss and put my mind at ease. I still have work to do with new accounts and password changes, but certainly know who to call again if I have problems. read more

I don't know if I can say I experienced bad service because what I ultimately got was no service. No, it was anti-service. My computer died and the motherboard code indicated insufficient power. I was pretty sure I needed a new power supply but I wanted to be certain before I spent the money. I brought the power supply in hoping they could just hook it up to one of their rigs and see if it worked. I should have known I was in trouble when the guy looked at it and said "Wow, that's a lot of cables!" A week later when I hadn't heard from them I called and asked if they'd checked it. The answer was "The one with all the cables? Yeah... it was broken... the connector or something." Fortunately I was able to come get it before they recycled it. When my new power supply arrived I hooked everything up and... the exact same problem as before. There was never anything wrong with the power supply. My computer is now running with a new motherboard (the actual problem) but the exact same power supply CC told me "has a broken connector or something." Clearly these are folks that business call to install windows on all their computers, not the kind who actually fix hardware issues. If they'd just admitted that they would have saved me a whole lot of time and ultimately about 60 bucks on parts I didn't need. read more

I have been to Commonwealth Computer Services several times to have various desktops and laptops repaired. I have always had a good experience with their repair service. They have always had my computers repaired and back to me quickly and their prices a very reasonable. I definitely recommend them to anyone I know who is having issues with their computer equipment! read more

I found Commonwealth Computer Services online and they really lived up to their fantasitc reviews. I brought in my 2 year old HP laptop and they were very friendly and got the diagnosis pretty quick. My laptop was diagnosed to have a motherboard issue so I chose not to repair it. But they were very understanding and offered to recycle it for me! read more

He spent a good bit of time trying to get my laptop to boot up and eventually removed the hard drive and battery to take them to his home workshop so he could retrieve my info and put it on my thumb drive. He rang me in the evening to say that sadly the hard drive was corrupt and couldn't be accessed. The battery had begun to bow upward, so it was a goner too. In his opinion the 7 year old machine wasn't worth fixing because at that age things would just keep going wrong. Kinda like a used car. In the end he didn't charge me a penny because he wasn't able to fix my machine! How often does that happen?!! So if you have a PC that is giving you trouble and you want someone to come to you, definitely give Ken a call. You won't regret it.

I wanted to do business with a local business, but sadly, I believe they took advantage of my situation. I had done business with them at least four times prior and was completely satisfied, but I will not do so in the future. The Intel Core i3-8100 is a budget desktop processor released in October 2017 as part of the 8th Generation "Coffee Lake" lineup. I partly blame myself for not conducting thorough research before making the purchase.

Then this weekend, the screen started to appear "jerky" and the iPad was pretty much useless. We called a couple places open on Sunday that wanted over $200 for a new screen. I thought we should get a new iPad, rather than spend $200 to replace another screen on an outdated model. But we took it by the shop on Tuesday when they were open during the week. The tech had it working like new within 5 minutes, at no charge, and we didn't even have the receipt from the first repair. (I'm sure they could have looked it up if they thought we were dishonest). Anyway, really appreciate the immediate attention when I stopped by and quick fix.

Chris did a wonderful job of getting the multitude of Smart devices, laptops, TVs, etc. at home running optimally. Not only did he fix it, I also got a tutorial on the issues and resolution, which in my view was a great add-on. The total cost and time to completion was lower than the initial estimate. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the place was and of the many washing machine and dryers it had inside that was almost like New in how well kept they were. The Laundromat opens early in the morning at 6:00AM, and it closes at 10PM. It has plenty of parking spaces outside as well as fast food restaurant near by for one to get a bite to eat while doing their laundry. It has an ATM machine in case one needs to get money as well as two change machine in case one needs change to work the top of the line commercial washing machines and dryers. It also has a laundry soap washing machine where you can purchase small boxes of laundry soap for individual loads of clothes. It also has special laundry wheel carts where you can place your clothes from the washer to the dryer, and the take the dry clothes to one of the folding tables to be folded. For your convenience it has clean Public Restrooms for you to use while doing your laundry as well as a soda machine in case you get thirsty. To entertain you while you're doing your clothes, it has several.TV that you can watch while sitting in one of the chairs provided. They have small and larger washers and dryers, that one can use depending in the size of one's laundry. The machines are very clean and there is a lady in charge of cleaning the dryer's filters daily and of cleaning the interior of the place. Just by observing all that I did, I have no hesitation in doing my laundry there and would highly recommend this place to all those who need to do there laundry in a Laundromat either for the time being or forever.

I love Commonwealth computers! I have been going to them for several years and they have always been able to fix my computers and for a reasonable price. With a household of computer users I needed somewhere trustworthy! I love the secretary , she is always nice and makes me feel welcome which is hard to find nowadays. She is also knowledgeable with computers. The last time I was at Commonwealth computers I took my computer in thinking it was something very serious and I am so thankful that they were honest and told me the same day that it was just a matter of changing the settings in my computer. I had dropped my iPhone 5s and the screen was unresponsive. I called repair shops around Roanoke and they had the cheapest price ($99 + tax). I brought it to the store and it was fixed the next day just like it was promised. I think Marshall is quite professional and friendly. read more
