I am a fan of Claws. Its not as good as boiling crab, but its pretty good and the added bonus is that I never had to wait! The food comes out pretty quick, however, you have to flag someone down after thye food drop off. My usual is a 3 lbs combo pack for 37 dollars. It comes with fries, an appetizer and 3 lbs of seafood. I normally 1 lbs of clams and 2 lbs of shrimp. with the shrimp being 1 dollar more per lbs. Today I ended up getting 1lbs of crayfish, in that combo mix because I saw a sign that said they had live Louisiana crayfish. Usually they offer frozen ones. My first bite I tried the crayfish first and it was not good, then I tried a 2nd one and it still wasn't good and then i asked my sister what she thought. She agreed with me and grabbed another one. I was like omg stop eating it! I am not going to pay for this. I told one of the worker that it was bad and he said that's how its suppose to taste like it was live. I am thinking that I had crayfish straight from Louisiana, I know what good crayfish taste like. I am Asian I know my seafood. These had a weird soft mushy texture. I really suspect that these were not live. Guy didn't offer a solution so I simply said for him to take back all the crayfish and exchange them for shrimp. I took out-of-town family to this place because they wanted some good seafood. I feel really bad we had the worst experience. We had to get our own bibs as well as ask for utensils to cut the crab but by the time we got them to us our food was cold. They said they only have a limited supply of utensils which is surprising because they have three different crabs available. The server that took over for our server that went on break did offer to cut our cold crab for us. We found hair on one of the shrimp. The butter we asked for on the side tasted like it had went bad. Oh and we had 3 different checks which they automatically added a 18% tip on to. When we talked to the manager he didn't seem to really care and never even apologized. Won't be back here! read more

So, it's really been years since I've been back to Claws. It's around the corner and pretty good. I was a customer since their little in-the-wall location in the same plaza. Their newly built location is amazing. Roomy with a FULL and endless tv for sports games- if anyone is ever interested!! So I've been here twice in the last few days, literally Saturday for the football game and yesterday night. I have to say, I still love their sauce as ever. Really good sauce, not too oily, not too garlicy, with hints of pepper. I got the cannonball sauce, medium with 1lb of shrimp. The shrimps were plump and juicy, not overcooked. Also, ordered garlic fries, which were actually better on Saturday, more crisp and less oily, than yesterday night's. I also got a refresher: celery sticks and carrot sticks to keep is somewhat healthy. We also got beignets and ice cream dessert on Saturday night, which was good in my opinion, except I think they should add a tad more ice cream to the portion of beignets- personal opinion. I also loved their strawberry lemonade- which they offered refills for. Quality is still amazing as I remembered, if not better even. I would go back when there is fresh crawfish (currently not in season) and when I can go back to eating oysters. If I remember correctly, their ceviche added on top of the oysters were FIREEE but unfortunately for right now, I have to stay away from raw fish/seafood for personal reasons. Definitely recommend. We would always go to BC for this sort of food so it was really nice that we tried something else for a change. I don't really give a shit that the decor is a rip-off or the menu is a rip-off of the original. They won't be the first and they won't be the last. All I care about is that the food is good and I'm not waiting for an hour for a table. I"m not the sort of person who patiently waits for food. What am I? Fido? No thank you. We got a table rather quickly but the first thing I noticed was the lack of AC. It was a hot day to begin with and no AC! That was a huge downer. Thank god I didn't shower beforehand because usually when I go to BC, I smell of the entire place. BC really stinks if you think about it. I was expecting Claws to smell too but it didn't. However, even though I didn't smell afterwards from the heavy spices, I did smell from the copious amount of sweat I developed from no AC. We ordered shrimp (they didn't have any crab) with Cannonball medium spice. We also got fried shrimp, fried catfish, cajun rice and wings. I thought the fried shrimp was the same as BC's but their fried catfish was definitely better. It had a cornmeal crust which is the way it is done in Louisiana. The fries were pretty good too except they weren't really spicy. I also liked the cajun wings even though I think some people didn't. They are much larger than the ones at BC and has a different seasoning too .... the one at BC tastes just like their fries. I also liked that the lime wedges were cut nicely and looked clean unlike the ones at BC. The ones at BC often look like they've been cut for a while and been sitting in that container they bring and dump on your table. The shrimps were nice and plump, the sauce was good but not spicy enough for me. We got medium because we didn't want to kill everyone else's tastebuds. The corn was so sweet and yummy .... much better than the ones I've had on the many occasions we've been to BC. The sausage was also a lot tastier and less fatty than the ones at BC. I also liked the cajun rice although it didn't have much flavor, but probably goes well mixed with the sauce which is usually a tad too salty. I like how they sell baguette here. We usually have to sneak a loaf of baguette into BC from Banh Mi Che Cali. Overall, I'd have to say I enjoyed the food here too, maybe much better than BC. My only complaints would be the lack of AC and that they only have one girl working the entire floor. I mean c'mon.... the poor girl..... she did well for being there alone, but the boss must be some cheap ass for not hiring more people to help out. I would definitely come back here again in the future if they turn the AC on. I want to go to Boiling Crab but don't want to wait a whole freaking hour. This would be the close equivalent to that place and a few extra items they don't have like pasta and steak. Came here a few times already and most recently for a little PYE fun too. Usually I order to share or share orders with those I'm with but for some reason, everyone this time ordered their own stuff. So mine was 1 dungeness crab and 1 pound of shrimp. The cannonball seasoning thrown in mild. They told me it's usually 1 pound for the crab but the one they selected is 2 pounds. Fuck it, let's do it. I'm starving. I think I was the pig of the table. Everyone only ordered one or two things but that crab sure kept me busy. Everyone was almost done with everything they ordered as I finished the crab. I picked out just about everything. Sorry to those who were there that I had them wait for me to go through a pound of shrimp. Next time I'll order something I can certainly breeze through but that crab was excellent. $15 per pound for the crab and something like $10 for the shrimp, couple bucks for the oysters I shared, tax, tip. I get away with dinner for around $50. Not bad, right? I'm such a pig. Last time I was here I had said I wanted to come down here on purpose just to try their steak. I've yet to do that. read more

The statement, "It's better than Boiling Crab" had been heard more than once. Even more enticing was hearing that there wasn't such a wait. I had to check it out to see if it was true. Kat L and I visited Claws before dinner and there was no line. The interior of the restaurant reminded me of Boiling Crab but with more of a pirate theme. We ordered an appetizer that included fried and battered mussels, calamari and shrimp. The appetizer was brought out quickly, which was great because we were hungry. For our order, we chose shrimp, crawfish, clams and sausages. Brought out in a bag of their spicy and flavorful cajun seasoning, the food was fresh and hot. It seems a bit pricey as a tea, but you can drink it a lot due to the spiciness from the foods. it does taste lychee with real diced lychee. Not bad! Horrible manager. I was there today with a party of 16. They where nice enough to tell me there was going to be a gratuity charge of 18% on the bill. It started of ok. But as soon as they got busy are server completely forgot about us. I stopped a couple waiters to ask for drinks and got either I'm going on brake, or I heard you. Finally decided to talk to the manager and rudely didn't allow me to talk and his excuse was simply that they got busy. I said I wasn't happy paying the gratuity and he kept on saying "I got busy not my fault". I completely understand they got busy. He just needed to apologize and not blame it on him being busy. Claws has officially captured my soul. Not just my heart, my soul!!! Food is delicious. I recommend any seafood with garlic butter. Garlic butter seems to get along with everything on my table. If given a straw, I would drink the garlic butter out of the bag. The crawfishies weren't huge, but they weren't small either. Clean, no sandy rocky or muddy taste here. What really makes Claws stand apart from Boiling crab would probably be their drink selection, IMO. Boyfriend ordered the peach iced tea while I had a strawberry lemonade. Oh yeah, and a Newcastle--beer is a must for me with this fare. I was formerly not a fan of sucking the juice out of a shrimp head after ripping it apart from the body. Do we as carnivores do that with any other type of food? When was the last time you were craving the cooked up innards of a chicken head at KFC? How about a cow's head before slicing into a ribeye steak sizzling off the grill? I thought not. But when you add some cajun seasonings and spices into the mix, those shrimp heads seem a bit more delectable. And why do I bring this up? It was at Claws that I began to appreciate more in depth the act of shrimp head sucking. When the person sitting across from you orders only a pound of shrimp for the both of you, it's important to savor each morsel immensely. And I actually urge you to try it some time. Order just a pound and split it. You go from gorging to savoring. Pick your shrimpy victim carefully. Drag it through the spicy ooze at the bottom of the plastic bag. Dip the whole shrimp in your mouth and squeegee off the seasonings with your lips. Rip off that shrimp head and suck it. Then nibble at the edge because there's actually a little meat there. Proceed to peel off the shell as if it were Jessica Alba's panties. Take your naked shrimp and dip it into that spicy ooze again. Put the whole thing in your mouth and let your eyes roll to the back of your head. Lick your fingers and repeat. And don't forget to burp garlic into all of your friends' faces an hour later. As for the restaurant itself, the pirate them is a hoot. Less crowds means you get your order faster. After a good workout at Chuze, I blew all my gains cuz Claws was next door. Viet-cajun food was screaming to me. I ordered a pound of shrimp with two corn cobs in mild cannonball sauce. The shrimp was good, but I wish the bag had more sauce. Claws is a lil skimpy about that. I also like big chunks of soft garlic in the sauce, but Claws is more minced. Their garlic fries were awesome though. Very garlicky and the fries were crispy til the last fry. Service was kinda slow. Understandable since it's almost closing time and everyone just wants to go home. Overall, food was good. This place is so good!! My friend Lorraine T. introduced me to this place and I'm so happy she did. This was the first time I ever had crawfish, and it was goood and interesting. Honestly, I was a little weirded out er.. grossed out by the crawfish's legs, but once I got over that , I was able to enjoy the succulent meat of the crawfish. So little meat for so much work, but the seasoning made it worth it. This place is pirate themed, which made me confused. I get why they chose pirates (because they serve seafood), but somehow, it didn't belong. Well, all I thought of was Capt'n Morgan. I've had their shrimp, live crawfish, and snow crab with the cannonball seasoning spicy. All of this was good. I liked the sauce. Perfect amount of spices and garlic, plus butter. There really isn't anything to complain about. In addition to all of this good stuff, they offer combination buckets. The combination A is a great deal. You get to choose 3 pounds of seafood (shrimp, clams, mussel, crawfish, NO CRAB), cajun fries, and a choice of appetizer. I recommend getting the shrimp cajun rolls. It is ground up shrimp with cheese rolled into an eggroll. Surprisingly delicious. Claws offers baguettes as well which is an awesome choice to dip into the sauce. So, what can I say about Claws? I've been here a few times, have never waited and have always had a sexy experience. They have an awesome pirate theme and it would be even sexier if the servers wore a patch over their eye, and talked to you in pirate lingo like Captain Jack Sparrow. Now that's bad ass. Like hey Captain Sparrow, you can board my black pearl and commandeer my vessel any time you want. Oops did I say that? I meant that girl Elizabeth Swann, yeah. Ahem, the Captain's daily catches are pretty damn good too. Their calamari isn't your ordinary order. It's like they cut the tentacles off a huge squid, bread it, fry it and serve it to you. It's greasy, but fat brings out the flavor. Spicy Cannonball (mixture of cajun, garlic butter, and lemon pepper) is the way to go upon ordering your crawfish and shrimp. Though the flavors don't stick too well due to the mixture of garlic butter and lemon pepper, it's still a great meal and even better when you dip your peeled dweller in the bag of sauce. Those are all the offerings I've ordered from their extensive menu and they have a lot of stuff. They also have bottomless drinks! Just check it out online and then sail your way to Claws. Lemme start by letting everyone know that I am Boiling Crab's #1 fan!!! I have been going there since 2006 and have been a loyal customer ever since. After a year of going there, Boiling Crab started to get more and more popular and the wait made me wanna try other places. I went to Cajun Corner, Rockin Crawfish, Crawfish House... a bunch of other places INCLUDING Claws, but decided then that nothing could compare to Boiling Crab... BUT!!!! I don't know what happened, maybe Claws made some changes or they were just havin an off-day the day I went a LONG time ago, but I paid a visit the other day and oh my goodness CLAWS IS BOMB. Just from one bite, you can tell that the shrimp and crawfish have never been frozen. The Cannon Ball is similar to the Whole Shabang but has its own DELICIOUS, unique flavor... They offer pretty good meal deals for big parties. The only thing is the fries aren't as great as Boiling Crab, but still pretty good. Probably 98% of Claws' reviews compare it to Boiling Crab, so to put all of that aside... Claws is just a GREAT restaurant to dine at. Excellent QUICK service, delicious food, fun experience, the total package... Beware: for those who come here often, this is not the same Claws you've experienced. I have been here a few times and a friend who came with me agreed that the sauces are now watered down. I like my shrimp and crawfish soaked with the garlic flavor but it was difficult for my taste buds to know it was even there; we did not see much clumps of chopped garlic. Go figure. We also ordered Kumamoto oysters which did not look like it at all. Another failure. One thing that tripped me was that the waiter never came back to our table for at least 30 minutes. The group I was with are drinkers so we ordered beer and most of us already finished our glass or bottle and were still waiting for our refill. The waiter never came by. The above mentioned are in regards to service and food taste. One thing you must know as a crawfish foodie, this place now has cheap ass bags. The plastic bag that held my shrimp and mussels was not durable. There was a leak. Good thing I caught it before it leaked towards the edge of the table and down to my lap. My friend on the other hand got the worst of it. Apparently his bag was punctured and the sauce spilled on his jeans. We were upset. I was not happy either. If I could give zero star, I would do it. Had to try this place because Kim Thai always raves about it in her seafood boil mukbangs and I was not disappointed. I ordered a pound of shrimp with mild spicy cannon ball sauce and my friend ordered the same with medium spicy. The shrimp was not overcooked so it very easy to peel and the sauce was so good! I feel like it was more flavorful and definitely more garlicky than the whole shabang sauce from Boiling Crab. The server compared the mild spicy to hot cheetos and I think that was pretty accurate. I tried my friend's medium spicy sauce and it definitely made me sweat a little. Our order of small cajun fries came was actually pretty large so we struggled to finish it but they were nice and crispy with the perfect amount of seasoning. There was no wait on a Saturday right when the opened, and at one point we were the only ones there. Service was great, I would definitely come back again if I was in the area. read more

I am definitely a fan of Claws. It's a couple blocks past BC and their sauce taste pretty much the same as BC's whole shabang. The prices are the same. They even have some combo specials where it'll save you a dollar or two if you wanna get the combos. They have all the stuff BC has on their menu plus more. I LOVE the bottomless strawberry lemonade. Definitely good stuff. I came here with my gf and my sister for dinner on a random night I forget but when we got there, we saw people standing outside waiting. I assume that there will be a decent wait time. We ask inside and we'll be seated next. Sweett! I guess the wait isn't bad as long as you don't come at peak hours with large groups. I'm so going here for crawfish instead of BC from now on. Same thing but it's got the lemonade and no wait. Claws also has a happy hour on the weekdays 3-6pm $1 off seafood and appetizers are 20% off. I will be back during those hours at least once. With a wider selection, same prices and taste, bottomless strawberry lemonade and little to NO wait for smaller parties.. why wouldn't you come here? or at least try it once. Con: Their cajun fries are not as good as BC and they don't do half lbs. Sausages aren't great but since BC changed theirs they suck as well. p.s. We just came from the Long Beach half and we were famished! Couldn't wait to eat! We got a pound of shrimp cannonball style with medium heat, a pound of clams prepared the same way, rice, corn, and a beer, of course. Everything was really good and it was a lot easier to eat the clams than the shrimp. But what the heck, both were plump, juicy, and savory! Came here for my anniversary with hubby. Arrived around 7; It was not busy at all. I did not have to wait for that horrible hours long wait like boiling crab. PROS: -Friendly customer service -Helpful workers -Clean environment -Clean and well stocked bathroom. -Food is delicious. Cons: -Food does not taste "cajun" enough. I mean this place is suppose to be the reflection of home cookin' southern cuisine. BUT my jambalaya was a little bland. Exceptionally good, but I guess being from New Orleans I just have too high of a standard when it comes to southern cookin' . SO I won't hold that against them. -I hate restaurants bring out my food or my boyfriend's food separately. If we ordered together bring it out together. ___________ SEASONED FRIES ARE YUMMM-O! My partner in crime and I love going here especially during lent (Friday's no meat day, so gotta gluttononize on yummy seafood right? hehe). We come here for a few reasons: 1) Exorbitant wait times at Boiling Crab 2) Food is tastier here and less oily. (Hey, gotta watch out for my cholesterol levels!! Don't wanna be getting a heart attack!) We usually order the same things every time (shrimp, sausages and cajun fries). --no sausages during no meat Fridays though. And I usually accompany my food "inside the trash bag" with a blue moon, or two or three. :) We don't really like the crawfish too much in general (here or Boiling Crab). Just not a fan of working too hard for food that is not really rewarding. I would not recommend coming here, or Boiling Crab if you have high cholesterol because you might get a heart attack while you're in the middle of working for your food. read more

Get the mixed seafood bag deals! Choose 3, 4 or 5lbs of clams, mussels, crawfish or shrimp (crab is extra). Three pound meals is $36 and comes with cajun fries and an appetizer. Four and five pound bags ($54 and $65) come with cajun fries, an appetizer and fried calamari. Sausage, potatoes and corn are extra. Revisited Claws last night w/ a group of friends and it was soooo good! Got 5 lbs of clams, shrimp & crawfish - four of us could barely finish. Traded cajun fries for sweet potato fries (yum!) and got the cajun wing appetizer. The fried calamari was the best calamari I've ever had - there was too much food though so the fries, calamari & wings ended up being to go. I highly recommend getting one of these combo deals, the strawberry lemonade, peach iced tea, passion fruit iced tea & a baguette to soak up all the yummy sauce! Two big TV's for you to watch games on as well - Claws is definitely my choice over Boiling Crab. =) read more

We went to Claws because Boiling Crab had a 2 hour wait. Claws was only a 45 minute wait. It's a smaller restaurant with an annoying pirate theme. The servers are really friendly here. The atmosphere is quieter with less of a ruckus since there are only a few tables. They do have a small bar with maybe 5 chairs that you could order drinks at while waiting for your table. Big plus! Parking is easy-peasy. Not a headache at all. Their menu is WAY more extensive than BC's. They have so much stuff. Pasta, frog legs, fish & chips, tilapia, crab cakes, chicken tenders, ribs, salmon, even desserts...I can't even remember everything. Check the website for the full menu. Food breakdown: "Under the Sea Bag": Seafood is good. Sauce is really good and flavorful. Not watered down tasting at all. Only downside is it lacks the huge chunks of garlic that I love. Shrimps and crawfish are a good size. Sweet Potato Fries are good too. Exactly like BC's. Fried Okra: Pass! Really plain. Couldn't taste anything but breading. Big serving though. Chicken Wings: Better than BC's. Good size with plenty of meat. It's not the saucy type of wings though. Dry rub but not too much spice coating. Good flavor. I really want to try the coconut sea snails. I heard they're bomb. I also really wanted to get a French baguette with my meal but I forgot. Can't wait to go here again. I definitely recommend this place. Food is just as good as Boiling Crab. Way bigger menu selection. Shorter wait and easier parking. Oh yea, docked one star because everything is about a dollar more expensive than BC. Only downside. read more

Gave them another shot and this place continues to have the worst customer service of any restaurant in Orange County. Food is good but there's a reason why servers leave every month and they can't find anyone worthwhile to replace them. Food takes forever. Servers are brain dead. Come here if you want cold food with awful service. read more

So, I've been to quite a few crawfish restaurants including The Boiling Crab & Cajun Corner - and really, this place BY FAR has the worst service!! We went on a Wednesday night... not a Friday or a Saturday (thank goodness) and the restaurant wasn't even full - they had at least THREE servers... yet, we often had to go up to the register to place orders?!? I'll give it to them, we came with a party of 8 and were quickly seated (clearly it wasn't crowded) and the place is very clean with a pirate theme. Their menu has the typical crawfish, shrimp, oysters, french fries, etc... but I was surprised that they also have pasta and rice dishes. French fries are about 2.99, shrimp 9.99/lb, oysters 10.99/lb - the great thing though is that we went to their website and printed a coupon which brought all the crawfish down to 6.99/lb! If you like spicy... definitely go for "fire in the hole" - all of the people I was with say that it was the spiciest they've had in comparison to the other crawfish establishments... I had one and started coughing - I think I'll stick to the medium spicy. But why did I give this place only 2 stars? The service, really - most crawfish places seem so similar these days, so service really stands out. read more

$100 for 2lbs of Alaska King Crab, 2lbs of shrimp (shell and heads on), and a shipwreck appetizer. They failed to add corn and sausages, not that we needed them, but the fat kid inside me is disappointed. Take out order came double wrapped in heavy plastic bags and with a very large sheet of heavy duty wax paper. Much appreciated. Made clean up a breeze. If you order take out over the phone and it's your first time, they won't start making your order until you show up. Sounds odd but it's understandable if you think about it. I asked the girl at the counter how many ghost orders they get and she said at least a few a week from both new and returning customers. I find that odd (ordering and not picking up) and disrespectful, but I think the business should charge over the phone if this is such an issue for them rather than making it an inconvenience to potential future customers. Anywho, the crab was sweet and firm. The shrimp were okay, but that's probably because I ordered w/ shell on, so the sauce didn't have time to seep into the meat. Next time, I'll just order all king crab. The shipwreck appetizer was your typical fried basket o' fried stuff and things. Not good. Not bad. Just fried. Tartar sauce it came with was good. Made a huge mess and didn't even try to keep my hands clean. Was fun and shockingly, my hands didn't stink of garlic and seasoning for three days. Nearly odorless after washing. THAT was nice. I would order again though I'm not sure when. This is one of those "Hey let's try this" type of places for me, not a regular destination. More often than not, if I'm in this plaza, you'll find me at the Thai place on the other side of the driveway. All in all, go to Costco and do this yourself for half the price, but if you can't be bothered, then these types of restaurants are now a dime a dozen. read more

Came here with 7 other ppl 4 a goodbye dinner. . .we just walked right in, no waiting in line. The atmosphere was all pirate themed, which i love btw! The womens restroom had pictures of Orlando Bloom! :) The service was quick and nice. Looks like a new establishment. Group ordered total of 4lbs of crawfish, 3lbs of king crab legs (which was DELICIOUS!), 2lbs of clams, 4lbs of shrimp, 3 orders of garlic bread, 2dozen oysters, 1lb of sausage, 3 orders of cajun fries. . . I rationalized that there is nothing special about cajun shrimp boil in a bag that warrants huge lines and crowds. As such, I decided to check one of the many Boiling Crab knockoffs and settled on Claws. My friend and I ordered one (1) lb. each of shrimp, crawfish and crab legs. As always, the shrimp worked nicely to keep us full, we kicked ourselves for ordering the crawfish and the crab legs were a lighter alternative. The meal comes with an appetizer and I think we selected the Cajun Crab Rolls. I have no memory of this so it must not have been good. We upgraded the accompanying fries to sweet potato and threw in a few cobs of corn for fiber. With two cups of soda, we were ready to overindulge in seafood. And so we did.....It was too much food for two people. Just putting this out there: I broke out in massive hives the next day all over my body. I am not allergic to seafood so it could have been from lack of washing the seafood prior to cooking. I can't say for sure that was the cause but I need to blame somebody. read more
