When my basement flooded I was both looking forward to the new floors I always wanted and really not looking forward to all the hassle and work involved in getting them. But with Clawes Carpets the process was a breeze. I picked a floor in about 5 minutes (I'm very decisive) and Bobby came by to take measurements. Everything was smooth and quick. Most of my original flooring was already gone but I decided to floor rooms that were unaffected by the flood as well. When my insurance company gave a deadline to send photos of the work, Clawes fit me into the schedule. And the installers did a pristine job. These workers floored all the way to the far ends of the closet under my staircase. My friends and family have all been very impressed with their work in such a tight space. Highly recommend! Working with Luis, Bobby and Kevin on upgrading our hardwood floors was an easy process. Getting someone out to measure for an estimate only took 2 days and the hardwood selection in their showroom was great. Fidel and his crew were so incredibly professional and took great care of our things during install. We were home (me, my two boys and our large dog) and they worked around us without seeming inconvenienced in the least. They even installed without having to unplug our sound system. Ater the job was done, I walked around to check the work for any mistakes... Can't find anything I don't like or that isn't exceptional. We recently had extensive water damage in our home. Clawes carpets have come to our rescue once again in less than five years after they gave us beautiful quality flooring/carpet in our home. Louis and Kevin are professional staff members in the office who work patiently with us and revised our quote three times to accommodate suggested fixes by our insurance company. April & Valerie are very considerate in the scheduling department who worked very hard to fit our emergency in their busy schedule, keeping us updated every step of the way. Daniel and his crew gave us beautiful flooring on our main level (LVP) and basement (LVT). when we expressed our concern about a few things Bobby Clawes (owner) visited personally to help reattach our dishwasher, and send Edger (one of their best employees for a long time) for finishing transition of floor to carpet. I stopped in today hoping to see some flooring that I had been looking at online. I was upfront and told them that it was for a house in another state (which I knew meant they wouldn't earn any money from helping me). Much to my surprise, they didn't just answer my questions but they went out of their way to educate me on my choices and offered several other selections for me to consider. I was quite surprised at how friendly and professional they were even knowing my situation. They even arranged for me to visit their sister store in Fairfax, where the owner would also unlock the Benjamin Moore paint store for me to browse the colors. One thing is for sure... All that I can say is WOW! We had a massive project with Clawes to replace all of the carpet in our house and replace all of the hard woods with engineered hard wood. First of all, they were incredibly helpful and patient as we took an incredible amount of time to pick our carpet and new floors. Secondly, their quality of work is pretty much unbelievable. I can't find a single error. Their work is absolute perfection. All of the teams that worked on these projects were kind, thorough and fast. I literally could not be happier with them. Clawes Carpet, and in particular Bobby Clawes is the best. I really liked the job they did and would 100% recommend them to anyone getting carpets. Saying that alone does not do them justice, so I'll recap my entire experience with them in hopes it helps convince you. I'm not getting paid by them and don't work for them, I'm just a really happy customer. Ok so earlier this month, I was on the market for carpets, and their prices were reasonable and they were really close to the house. Reviews were pretty good so I figured why not, let's go with them. Bobby Clawes (of Clawes carpet, it's a family owned business) came out and measured everything, gave me a bunch of quotes and took the time to show and explain to me the differences between all the different carpets. This was pretty awesome, I never think about carpets, so it's nice to get a quick tutorial on it. I went with Coastal. (Really pretty, I recommend it). They (random people from Clawes I never met) came two weeks later for the install, which took about 3 hours and after they left, I noticed huge gaps between the baseboard (the wall) and the carpet! "Oh no" I thought. I sent over a bunch of pictures and they said that Bobby would come back in a few days and we could walk through the house and figure out what to do. Fast forward two days, and Bobby came back. We went to the rooms with the gaps and he pulled back the carpet to reveal huge holes underneath the flooring. Essentially, the builders for whatever reason left huge holes between the wall and flooring. Maybe its a fire code issue? Who knows? Either way, this was the cause of the gaps. The fix for this is easy though as Bobby pointed out. We just to add extra layers of carpet where it joins the wall. This would essentially eliminate the gaps. He did so and TADA, fixed! He said that this was a common problem for all of the houses on my row. What impressed me the most was their persistence to make sure I was happy. I've heard horror stories of companies that do installs and then the customer isn't happy for one reason or another. Then they get stuck in a certain type of hell trying to contact customer support, or trying to get people back out to their house to fix it. Just google or search yelp for carpet reviews and you'll find a ton, I gaurantee you. This is where I feel Clawes stands heads and shoulders above the rest. Sure the initial install had some problems, but I loved the way they worked with me to make sure that it's absolutely perfect...to my standards. And if I had any future problems, he said he'd come back out and help again. So what I'm saying is if you need carpet, call Clawes. They are just a bunch of awesome hard working people that know and love carpet. 10/10 read more

I give one star to the nice man who dropped off the carpet padding. The rest deserve a 0. So this was my second time ordering padding for an area rug. The first experience went well so we decided to use them again. When we placed the order we were told the turn around would be one week. Two weeks go by I call and they say oh I am not sure why you were not called it will be here by Monday 1:30. Monday at 4:00 pm I arrive to the store and guess what there was no padding ..and the two gentlemen one named Jose and other I will call the deliver of padding were like hmm are you sure you are in the right store...ahhh I think so and they looked and couldn't find it. So the " deliver" said you know I will go and pick it up and drop it off to your house ( so nice right ?? ) . We even had a discussion about how it needed to be cut and I had given all of them these measurements prior. So the "deliver" drops of the padding ...my husband and I go to place it under the area rug and is not the right size ..it is standard not cut nothing ....so they never really had our order done ! So today I nicely went in to express my frustration Jose was there chatting on the phone he can hear that I am frustrated as I am speaking to the kind lady sitting at the desk. He takes his time finishing up a phone call which not really sure if it was personal or not..but any who I tell him my story and he is like yeah sorry ..he didn't care nothing nothing like I ams sorry what can we do..well jokes on you Clawes Carpet because you have lost my business for good and we were looking for someone to help us with a carpet renovation in an entire house :) read more

I also decided to have my guest bathroom renovated- they do that too! Jim, the man who did all this work was terrific. He is very professional, and does an excellent job- he is meticulous about doing everything well and is very neat and clean when he works. Contacted Clawes Carpets to do a small wood floor replacement after a water leak; which included a half bath, entry foyer & coat closet. With prepping my home for sale, I also had Bobby take measurements & provide flooring estimates for the remainder of my townhome. Bobby provided knowledgeable product insight & cost effective suggestions, such as LVT for the baths vs. ceramic tile. Turn around time to receive the wood flooring, having it delivered onsite & scheduled for install was several weeks & much longer than I originally anticipated. None-the-less my install was easily scheduled on a Saturday, which was super convenient! The installers worked quickly & did an excellent job, but there was a slight misunderstanding regarding the replacement of a piece of the subfloor. This also called for a plumber to be on-sight to replace the toilet flange. Luckily their go-to plumber was able to come out within the hour & as a bonus Bobby obliged me on my request to have the laborers install my own provided quarter round in an upstairs bathroom (that I laid LVT myself in, thanks to Bobby's suggestion!) while they waited for the plumber. If that's not extra enough, Clawes also reimbursed me for brushed bronze toilet flush handle that had to be replaced because it was hauled away with the old toilet. The entire process from choosing the right carpeting, to measurements and installation could not have been easier or more pleasant an experience! The entire staff is very knowledgable and extremely helpful. The installation went smoothly and all of the squeaking floorboards were screwed down - it's like we have a brand new, well-constructed upper floor. And it looks beautiful! At that time, we didn't know what we wanted, so they provided a lot of great advice and samples to consider to make the process easier. We went to Clawes of Clifton for hardwood flooring. From the first visit to the last visit there sales, shop, and installers were fantastic. Clawes was very thorough and worked with us to get the best product and job done! They have in house wood working, painting and installation of the hardwood risers/treads and flooring. I cannot say enough good things about Clawes Carpets. We bought a new house in October 2014, and all of the carpets needed replaced. We worked with Bobby, who I believe is the owner, and he is honestly such a great guy. He was very personable and professional, and he really knows what he is doing. He worked with us to find the right carpets for us, knowing our needs (kids, pets), budget, and time constraints (we had not yet moved our stuff into the new home and were obviously hoping to have the new carpet installed before moving in). I was very happy with the selections they offer, as well as the pricing, and they were able to get the new carpet installed within a few days of our initial meeting; it was a full house job (two stories, 8 rooms plus staircase), and they got it all done in a few hours. We were very happy with the work done. We also recently had them come out to do a repair/replacement in one room (thanks to our territorial cats), which was also done at a great price and a reasonable time frame. We haven't had them clean the carpets yet, but will be doing that in a month or two, probably. I will update my review if necessary after they clean the carpets, but at this point, I'm expecting more excellence! read more

I CANNOT recommend this company. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! While the process of installing new flooring in our basement began reasonably smoothly with Bobby arriving on time to measure the house, he failed to listen to our needs. We requested he measure the entire house for new flooring as we intend to replace all our flooring within the next year. We also indicated we would start with new flooring in the basement within a few weeks after receiving the quote. Assuming Bobby knew what he was doing, I did not watch him take his measurements. We had a lengthy conversation on recent trends and the best flooring options for the basement family room area, the bedroom, and the bathroom. Shortly after the measurements were taken, Clawes provided a quote for carpet on the stairs and the guest bedroom in the basement and a second quote for luxury vinyl tile for the remaining "basement area." Three weeks after receiving the quote and selecting the carpet and luxury vinyl tile, Clawes' installers arrived. The luxury vinyl tile was to be installed first and the carpet two days later. Between receiving the quote and the arrival of the installers, we had not only asked several questions related to the flooring in the bathroom and the installation process given the presence of a vanity, toilet, and tub in the bathroom, but we had also done extensive work to the bathroom to have it ready for the new flooring (removed the vanity and changed out the lighting fixtures, towel bar, etc. and repaired and repainted the walls). On installation day, the installers began at 8 am. Around 9 am, after our basement had been torn apart in the installation process, I received a phone call from Emily at Clawes letting me know the bathroom flooring had not been included in the quote and the installers would not complete that room without us paying an additional charge. Since the bathroom had been requested to be measured and we indicated we would be starting with the flooring for the ENTIRE basement, I was stunned. I spoke to several employees that morning and afternoon and provided email documentation showing that we had asked extensive questions about the bathroom flooring and clearly showing our understanding the bathroom floor was included in the quote. In fact, the final quote (after the flooring product selection had been finalized) was a reply to our email which contained our questions on the installation of the bathroom floor. After directing Kevin to the emails, he indicated he "understood my position exactly and would have someone call me back." Luis phoned later that morning and began to argue with me indicating the bathroom had not been included on the quote and I could see that by looking at the diagram. When I indicated I had never seen a diagram, Luis' response was "of course you haven't seen the diagram, we don't provide our diagrams to customers." If you don't provide these diagrams to customers, you CANNOT expect the customer to know you omitted a room they asked you to measure and did not include that room in the quote described only as "the basement area." When I directed Luis to the emails which clearly document that the bathroom floor was to be included, he indicated "they could not possibly keep track of all the emails they receive from customers." 5 1/2 hours after the installation began and our basement was a disaster area, Bobby called me and immediately began yelling at me indicating the bathroom was not included on the quote and they would not install flooring in the bathroom without us paying an additional charge. He accused me of being dishonest and of trying to "get something for free." I indicated that was completely untrue, that I'm very honest (not that a customer should have to defend themselves to a business they have hired) and was merely trying to get the product and installation at the price we had been quoted and paid. My husband and I felt deceived. It was the week before Thanksgiving and we knew it would be difficult to find another company to complete the installation and ensure the bathroom flooring flowed properly from the basement family room area. Bobby was unprofessional and disrespectful. I tried in vain to communicate my position; we felt deceived as they had provided a quote and only after tearing our basement apart, demanded an additional amount of money to complete the job. Bobby kept referring to the diagram- the diagram we had not been provided because "they don't provide the diagrams to their customers." Bobby refused to listen to my position, continued to be unprofessional and hung up on me. My husband and I decided we were stuck as we wanted the flooring installed properly. So I phoned back to provide a credit card. Bobby yelled at me, saying "you just want it done for free, so goddamnit we will just do it for free" and hung up, again. It was a very exhausting, trying process. The installers left us with damaged walls, damaged furniture, dust and mess EVERYWHERE and a leaking toilet. read more
