I will start by saying I love my new floors, however, the installation was a nightmare. We obtained quotes from several companies and narrowed it down to two. We chose Floor Advisor because Bob was knowledgeable, responsive, and just a nice guy. Our flooring was backordered for several weeks, but we were fine with that. Once installation started, things took a turn. We recently had our cabinets painted and we knew doing the floors after the cabinets were painted was a risk (especially since we were busting up tile), however, certain precautions would have minimized the damage. The demo crew showed up on day 1 with a foreman. My husband and I got quickly out of dodge so we would not be in their way. The foreman disappeared shortly thereafter. We came up from the basement to check on progress after several hours and the NOTHING was tarped/covered. So not only did we have an inch of dust and debris on all surfaces and our large sectional sofa, but every single one of our lower cabinets were damaged to the point that when they were fixed, wood putty, priming and repainting was involved. Our 3 month old refrigerator also has 2 big dings in it from flying debris. Again, a tarp may have prevented that. We tried to communicate with the two laborers, but English is not their first language and the foreman was nowhere to be found. In addition, the work van was leaking oil and leaked oil on our driveway, the sidewalk in front of the driveway, and on the street. When the foreman finally came back, he put tarps down (too late) and put cardboard underneath the leaking van (again, too late). When they left for the day, there were nails and debris left in our driveway and they did not leave our home in satisfactory condition. The second day of demo we at least had tarps, but again the foreman kept disappearing which made communication difficult. The laborers left our house in disarray beyond what you would expect, to the point that we had to clean feces off the toilet on our main floor bathroom. We called Bob several times with no response until finally we drove over to the store to speak to someone directly. We asked that Bob and his partner meet us at our home on Saturday morning so we could discuss our concerns in person. Bob offered to have a cleaning service come in to clean our home and have someone come and power wash the oil stains. He also promised to follow up with us that afternoon/evening to see how everything went that day. None of that happened. No cleaning, no power washing, and zero follow up. The installation crew was far more efficient and neat so Saturday and Monday-Tuesday went a lot smoother. It was rather hot on Monday and Tuesday and of course our home was hot as the saw was located outside and the door remained open a lot. I figured that was the reason why the A/C wasn't cooling down our home. It wasn't until the next day when I went to check all the floor vents I realized that ALL of them, except one, had been put back in the floor closed. With the lack of air flow, guess what happened? Yep, the outside unit froze. So that was a $200 service call. And the only reason why the one vent was open was because it was never put back in the floor properly ----they didn't cut the flooring properly to allow the vent cover to fit. My husband tried calling Bob repeatedly after the job was finished and, again, had to go into the shop after receiving no response. We wound up deducting the cost to fix the damaged cabinets (as Bob agreed) from our final payment. Not once has Bob followed up with us since. We even called last week to try to find out the color of the stain they used on the shoe moulding and stairs to fix something else (won't even get into that) and it took calling for several days with no response until my husband once again had to go to the shop to get the information in person. Love my floors but highly disappointed in the entire experience. read more
